The New Year period is one of the biggest in pro wrestling in Japan just because of Ittenyon aka 1/4 (Tokyo Dome) but this entire week has seen and will see several other major events across several promotions (started with Stardom yesterday). My schedule will allow me to watch many, but not all, major events live and do live results based on time differences (I am currently 17 hours behind Japan). Here are the current plans for the rest of the week:
12/31: All-Japan major year-end event, 2 PM JST. Post-event results tomorrow (it’s a 9 PM PT start tonight but I am working tomorrow so it will start too late for me and will probably run 3+ hours)
1/1: Pro Wrestling NOAH “NOAH THE NEW YEAR”, 3 PM JST. Right now the plan is to do live results as it is a 10 PM PT tomorrow start. Whether or not I can stay awake after a full day’s work for what should be a 4-5 hour event is up in the air.
1/2: All-Japan event, 11:30 AM JST. Live results planned (1/1 at 6:30 PM PT)
1/3: All-Japan event, 11:30 AM JST. Live results planned (1/2 at 6:30 PM PT). DDT live event, 6:30 PM JST. Post-event results (1:30 AM PT start)
1/4: Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, 11 AM JST. Live results planned (1/3 at 6 PM PT).
1/4: New Japan Tokyo Dome event, TBA (4 PM JST but there will be a pre-show match so plan for 20-30 minutes earlier). Live results planned but depends on how long event goes (1/3 at 11 PM PT, I anticipate 4+ hours so the last 1-2 hours may be a struggle to stay awake for it)
As always, plans are subject to change to circumstances beyond my control. (And of course the ever-present threat of major earthquakes in Japan among other things. I imagine there could be one from that final massive Hiroshi Tanahashi retirement air guitar performance to send the crowd home happy…hopefully)
