BREAKING: Obituary-Joe Doering Dies

Some sad news just coming out to pass along-Joe Doering, who competed in All-Japan in the 2010s and was a 2-time Triple Crown Champion, has died after a valiant battle with brain cancer. He was only 44. The announcement came from Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling and its owner, former TNA Wrestling President Scott D’Amore. Doering had reportedly just entered hospice care earlier this week.

A giant by Japanese wrestling standards at 6’8”, 275 lbs, Doering became the 50th All-Japan Triple Crown Champion in 2014, making 3 successful defenses in his first reign that lasted just over 5 months. He would win the Triple Crown back in October 2017 and become the 59th Champion, again making 3 successful defenses in a reign that lasted 5 months. He was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2016 and made his final in-ring appearance in 2022 for TNA.

He definitely was one of the most successful big man foreigners in Japan this century and was loved by the Japanese fans as well. I join the wrestling world in sending deepest condolences on the loss of another brother, taken from us way too soon.

RIP and GOD BLESS, Joe.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 6/27/2026 LIVE Results (Tentative)

Tokyo Joshi Pro wraps up the spring house show tour today in Tokyo, even though it’s technically summer. That’s the plan, but the Tentative is there because plans are subject to change last-minute due to weather. Japan is being impacted by typhoons (hurricanes to us Americans) and conditions are being monitored. As of this post the event is on unless one of the following happens: The JR Ryogoku train station is closed, authorities issue advisories not to travel, or the venue closes. So it’s wait and see.

Today’s event, if it goes on as planned, will be held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. There are 6 matches planned so the event would be a standard house show with a running time of around 2 hours.

Today’s lineup (match order TBA):
Arisu Endo & Shion Kanzaki vs. Toga & Uta Takami
Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro vs. HIMAWARI & Kira Summer
Raku & Pom Harajuku vs. Mifu Ashida & Mahiro Kiryu
Yuki Kamifuku & Sakura Hattori vs. Chika Nanase & YuuRI
Mizuki vs. Ren Konatsu

FREE VIDEO: The Longest Wrestling Match Ever?

This has nothing to do with Japanese wrestling but I just read about this and it’s too crazy not to share…a Canada-based independent promotion called Mystery Wrestling (founded by All Elite Wrestling wrestler Evil Uno) claims to have set a new Guinness World Record earlier this week with a nearly 22 HOUR NONSTOP Royal Rumble-style match. And the while thing is available FOR FREE on YouTube (they livestreamed it but fortunately the full archived replay is now available).

Bookmark/save the below video and enjoy. It also raised nearly $35,000 Canadian for cancer research charities so it was for a good cause (and one near & dear to them as it was partly in memory of a wrestler who died of cancer at 23).

(The previous record? 21:49:12, which they claim to have set in last year’s version!)

Stardom News: Late Addition To Weekend PPV (SPOILERS!)

It turns out All Elite Wrestling is once again doing a TAPED AEW Collision this Saturday, which was taped last night. And apparently it resulted in another Stardom wrestler being added to Sunday’s Forbidden Door PPV-if you want to know who and don’t mind SPOILERS, click below. Otherwise, wait for Saturday night to find out…

FREE VIDEOS: Sumo-2026 Paris Event (June 2026)

As expected, it didn’t take long for videos from the June 2026 Paris Grand Sumo event to male it online. One YouTube channel I follow has put both events up in digest format (lightly edited fan video) featuring each day’s knockout tournament that featured almost all the top tier wrestlers participating (the only one who didn’t was Asanoyama. He didn’t go due to injury). Some other happenings are also featured. These videos can be watched FOR FREE on YouTube and consist of nearly 4 hours of footage. You can also watch them below:

Day 1:

Day 2:

Also, a correction to a prior post where I said Ozeki Kotozakura swept the 2 days and won both tournaments: Partially incorrect. It turns out he won Day 1 and Yokozuna Hoshoryu won Day 2. That was followed by a soccer-style Grand Championship playoff to crown the overall champion-Kotozakura beat Hoshoryu to win that. I did not know Hoshoryu won the second day beforehand.
