New Japan Pro Wrestling 7/11/2026 LIVE Results (Updated Pre-Show)

New Japan kicks off the G1 CLIMAX 36, the promotion’s biggest annual tournament and unofficial official start of the Road to Tokyo Dome, today and, for maybe the first time ever (second at most), it starts in the US. The first day will feature almost the entire field competing in matches, except for two in Block B (Drilla Moloney & Gabrirl Kidd). All of Block A will be in action.

On a side note, the promotion did a social media poll in Japan asking fans to vote on who from each block they felt would win. Their predictions? Konosuke Takeshita & Yuya Uemura. Make note if you’re keeping score!

Today’s event will be held at Now Arena in Chicago, IL and can be watched LIVE on New Japan World (NO PPV) in Japanese & English. All matches are G1 CLIMAX matches with a 30 minute time limit so it could go as long as 4 1/2-5 hours but since this is the US I imagine it will be around 3 hours.

Today’s lineup (all G1 CLIMAX matches):
Block B: Aaron Wolf vs. HENARE
Block A: Shingo Takagi vs. Jake Lee
Block B: OSKAR vs. Ren Narita
Block A: Yuto Ice vs. Great-O-Khan
Block B: Shota Umino vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
Block A: Hirooki Goto vs. SANADA
Block B: Yuya Uemura vs. Callum Newman
Block A: Boltin Oleg vs. Ryohei Oiwa
Block A: Konosuke Takeshita vs. Yota Tsuji

Updates below will begin at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET.

Pre-Show Update: You will also be able to watch the first 2 matches FOR FREE on YouTube.

5 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

Opening series video plays first. And then…

We are LIVE from Now Arena in Chicago, IL. Your Japanese hosts are (didn’t get the main person’s name-rotating to also include Haruo Murata), Milano Collection A.T. & today’s guest El Desperado.. Your English hosts are Walker Stewart & Chris Charlton. Also regular Japanese crew including referees & ring announcers, so notably no Tak, who usually does the US events. (Actually we do have Tak! He takes over for Match 3)

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Clearly not a sellout and they discounted tickets left today, the source I usually get early estimates for decided to paywall that info, but the setup looks like maybe around 6000. From what I can see so far I’ll predict roughly 3500. (It was un-paywalled right before event time, the estimate based on ticket sales was about 3850 with the setup being for just over 5600. Full capacity if used would have been about 9450) (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 4125)

All matches are G1 CLIMAX 36 matches, 30 minute time limit.

Result: Yota Tsuji beat Konosuke Takeshita

A decent slate of early matches led into a hot final third of matches that, all things considered, made for a great start to the tournament.

New Japan 7/7/2026 Results

The end of another era in New Japan came today as Tiger Mask 4, the promotion’s longest-serving incarnation of the iconic comic book-based masked wrestler, called it a career today, retiring just 8 days before what would have been his 31st anniversary in the ring.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on New Japan World.

Main Event: Tiger Mask 4 Retirement Match 2: Tiger Mask 4 vs. Black Tiger 4 (Rocky Romero) went to a 5 minute time limit draw. Which led to…
Main Event (continued): Tiger Mask 4 beat Black Tiger 4 in 18 seconds.

The retirement ceremony that followed included a surprise appearance by the original Tiger Mask, Satoru Sayama. After the traditional 10 Bell Salute signifying his retirement, he was carried off by the main roster, a legend of the Junior Heavyweight division leaving as he should-a winner. Now we can wonder if there will be what would/should be a Tiger Mask 7 to fill the void in the promotion. (TM 5 is/was Ikuhisa Minowa in independents, TM 6 is an unknown who primarily does special appearances)

The next event is the G1 CLIMAX 36 Tournament, the biggest tournament of the year, starting Saturday at Now Arena in Chicago, IL. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET.

BREAKING: Another New Japan Veteran Retiring

At today’s New Japan event (non-televised), longtime wrestler Tomoaki Honma announced his retirement. Honma suffered a spinal injury that left him temporarily paralyzed in 2017 but recovered enough to return to action but more recent concerns have surfaced in exams and he decided to retire. Honma turns 50 in November and has mainly bern a part-timer post-pandemic.
