New Japan continued the New Japan Cup today with more Round 2 matches.
Today’s event was held at Uwajima City General Gym in Ehime and can be watched on demand on New Japan World.
The announced paid attendance was 924.
Match 1: TAKA Mochinoku & Yuya Uemura beat Daiki Nagai & YOSHI-HASHI. TAKA beat Nagai with Just Facrlock.
Match 2: Tomohiro Ishii, Satoshi Kojima & Yuji Nagata beat Katsuya Murashima, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Hirooki Goto. Kojima pinned Murashima after a lariat.
Match 3: Callum Newman, Jeff Cobb & TJP beat Hartley Jackson (Independent/Freelancer), Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr. Cobb pinned Jackson after Tour of the Islands.
Match 4: BUSHI, Yota Tsuji, Tetsuya Naito & Shingo Takagi beat Jado, Toru Yano, El Phantasmo & Boltin Oleg. Tsuji pinned Jado after a curb stomp.
Match 5: Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Sho, Yujiro Takahashi, Ren Narita & EVIL beat Chase Owens, Bad Luck Fale, Drilla Moloney, SANADA & David Finlay. Narita pinned Owens after Double Cross.
New Japan Cup Round 2:
Match 6: Taichi beat Gabriel Kidd by countout. House Of Torture interference.
Main Event: (A now bald) Shota Umino beat Great-O-Khan. New look and new attitude for Umino as his post-main event victory promo was…nothing.
As a result, Taichi will face Sabre in the Quarterfinals and Umino will face the Tetsuya Naito-Jeff Cobb winner (Friday).
