Stardom 7/7/24 Results

Stardom ran an event in Tokyo today that was, as you may have heard by now, overshadowed by post-event and backstage controversy involving Thekla, as following the recording of post-match backstage comments she assaulted a female film crew member recording the comments on a mobile phone. Stardom posted clips of the video to social media. More on that after the results.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on Stardom World.

The announced paid attendance was 923.

There were last minute changes to the card because of HANAKO being off the event. Treatment for undisclosed injuries. Based on pre-event comments from President Taro Okada, there is a chance she could be out longer, possibly 1-2 weeks. She was to have teamed with Waka Tsukiyama to face Mei Seira & Miyu Amasaki. Gina was the replacement, meaning the first match was changed from a tag match of Lady C & Ranna Yagami vs. Gina & Rian to a 3-way. It was also announced that HANAKO is going to the US in August. She is expected to be there for a month. Also announced were 2 upcoming title matches: On 7/23 New Blood Tag Team Champions Hanan & Saya Iida will defend the titles against Rina & Azusa Inaba. That should be fun just because Hanan & Rina are real-life sisters (also, Hina is Rina’s twin sister. Hanan is about a year older than Rina & Hina). Also on 7/23 will be Goddesses Of Stardom Champions Syuri & Konami vs. Momo Watanabe & Thekla for the titles. Then on 7/27 the 7/15 Wonder Of Stardom Championship winner between Mika Iwata & Saori Anou in Sendai Girls will defend the title against Natsupoi, and Maika will defend the World Of Stardom Championship on 7/15 against Tomoka Inaba, with the winner there defending on 7/28 against Natsuko Tora.

Match 1: Lady C beat Rian & Ranna Yagami in a 3-way by pinning Rian. C debuted a new look today, cutting her hair much shorter than before (no more ponytail).

Match 2; Sayaka Kurara vs. Thekla went to a double countout.

Match 3: Saki Kashima & Hina beat Yuna Mizumori & Aya Sakura. Hina pinned Sakura after a deformed jackhammer.

Match 4: Mei Seira & Miyu Amasaki beat Waka Tsukiyama & Gina. Seira pinned Tsukiyama after Shooting Star.

Match 5: Hazuki, Koguma & Momo Kohgo beat Natsuko Tora, Rina & Fukigen. Hazuki pinned Fukigen after a diving senton. This essentially was a 10th anniversary match for Hazuki.

Match 6; Tam Nakano, Saori Anou & Natsupoi beat Syuri, Konami & Ami Sohrei. Natsupoi pinned Sohrei after Fairy Blink.

Match 7: Starlight Kid & AZM beat Momo Watanabe & Ruaka. Kid pinned Ruaka after a moonsault press.

Main Event: Maika, Mina Shirakawa & Saya Kamitani beat Mayu Iwatani, Hanan & Saya Iida. Kamitani pinned Hanan after Star Crusher.

The next events are Friday at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka and that night US time at Yamato Arena in Osaka. There will be no live broadcast for the Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 event. For the Yamato Arena event, live streaming on Stardom World will begin at 9 PM PT/midnight ET.

As for Thekla, following today’s incident (and also supposedly her intrusion at a handover party event earlier in the week), she was suspended with reduced pay for 1 week, meaning she is out the next 3 events (Friday, Saturday and next Sunday).
