Tokyo Joshi Pro continues the Tokyo Princess Cup today with most of Round 2. After it started with 2 matches on the first day in addition to the Round 1 matches, the rest of the matches are on tap today to set up the Quarterfinals. This includes the Yuki Kamifuku-Pom Harajuku match scheduled last time but postponed last-minute because Kamifuku was removed from the card due to an apparent illness. But she is good to go as part of what will be 6 tournament matches. The rest include Miu Watanabe facing a literal big test against the massive (next to her) Zara Zakher and Yuki Arai vs. Wakana Uehara. 2 multi-woman tag matches make up the non-tournament portion of the event. There also is no Maki Itoh on this event as she is off to the US again (Miyu Yamashita is also leaving shortly for another international tour).
Today’s event will be held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. It’s another loaded 8-match card and with no time limit for tournament matches I anticipate it will run a little longer than usual for a house show event, probably between 2-2 1/4 hours.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. DDT’s event there yesterday did just under 300 and based on advance ticket sales I’m guessing it’ll also be in the 250-300 range. The maximum possible capacity for the venue is 500 but it’s often used post-pandemic with a setup for 350-450. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 297)
The matches should begin in about 15 minutes. During opening announcements, it was revealed on DDT’s website that Max The Impaler will return to TJPW at WRESTLE PRINCESS 5 in September. WASTELAND POM PARTY?

Wow, what an event. Definitely some upsets and unexpected outcomes, probaly none bigger than Watanabe losing. An impressive effort and again proving the old “size matters not” adage in what bordered on hoss fight, but wow. Just wow. Now I’m guilty of hoping Zakher can do the same to Mizuki.
