After Tokyo Joshi Pro ran their finale there earlier in the day today, it was DDT’s turn to say their final goodbye to Shinjuku Face with their last event at the venue.
Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.
The paid attendance was not announced but it was a legit advance sellout, so assume 500.
There were last-second changes to the card due to Danshoku Dieno being pulled off the event. The always-vague poor health.
Match 1: Jun Akiyama beat MAsami Inahata.
Match 2: Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Daichi Sato beat Yuki Ishida & O-MENZ Kumadori. Sato pinned Ishida after Mad Splash.
Match 3: Takao Soma, Kazuki Hirata & Akito beat Snashiro Takagi, Ken Ohka & Naomi Yoshimura. Soma pinned Takagi after Mad Splash. This was Soma’s final match in DDT as he is leaving the promotion. Gota Ihashi seconded the winners in what was also his final DDT appearance. Soma’s future plans were not hinted at while Ihashi is leaving for personal reasons but confirmed on social media that he is not retiring. Post-match comments made it sound like Soma will become a freelancer.
Match 4: In a Four-Faced Soka-Blood Battle Camp Match, DDT Extreme Champion Shunma Katsumata beat Ryota Nakatsu to retain the title. V2 for Katsumata. Next up: Yuki Ueno. Which probably means what I think it means. That match will happen on 11/3 at Ryogoku Kokugikan.
Match 5: Takeshi Masada & Yuya Korku beat KO-D Tag Team Champions Shinya Aoki & Junta Miyawaki to win the titles. Masada & Koroku become the 91st KO-D Tag Team Champions. Masada pinned Miyawaki. Next up: Soma and Shota. So much for Soma leaving DDT even though he will be returning as a freelancer. That match will happen on 10/18.
Main Event: In a 4-way elimination match, MAO, KANON, Yukio Naya & Viento Levante beat Daisuke Sasaki, MJ Paul, Hideki Okatani & Illusion, Chris Brookes, HARASHIMA, Antonio Honda & Hinata Kasai and Yuki Ueno, To-y, Kazuma Sumi & Yuni. When one wrestler was beaten the whole team was eliminated. Order of elimination: Yuni by Illusion, Illusion by HARASHIMA, Kasai by MAO.
Afterwards, the roster gathered in the ring for the final farewell & commemorative photos and Takagi brought out the manager of Shinjuku Face to express his gratitude for 21+ years at the venue.
The next event is a Super Japan Pro Wrestling event tomorrow for Takagi’s new production farewell. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 3 AM PT/6 AM ET.
Finally, it was announced that what will be the grand finale for the venue on Wednesday, a CyberFight-produced event also featuring Dragon Gate, All-Japan & OZ Academy participation, will be available live & on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. The live broadcast will begin at 3 AM PT/6 AM ET. The final match will be Aja Kong & Chihiro Hashimoto vs. Mayumi Ozaki & Sareee. Before that will be a pair of tag matches and a battle royal.
