Ain’t no party like an Ultimate Party, and DDT’s final blowout event of the year, ULTIMATE PARTY 2025, is now in the books.
Today’s event was held at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. Former DDT wrestler (now front office member) Saki Akai was among the guests on commentary (and I was happy to see pics of her backstage reuniting with former TJPW partner and co-champion Yuki Arai).
The paid attendance was not announced.
Match 1: Sanshiro Takagi Return Match: Sanshiro Takagi beat Hinata Kasai by submission. Takagi has stepped back from regular matches this year to focus on his independent projects that are still promoted by DDT.
Match 2: HARASHIMA, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata beat Takao Soma, Shinichiro Kawamatsu (the real-life politician) & Rukiya. HARASHIMA pinned Rukiya after Blue Sword.
Match 3: Hideki Okatani, MJ Paul, Demus & Illusion beat Daichi Sato, Yuki Ishida, Kazuma Sumi & O-MENZ Kumadori. Illusion pinned Sumi after a swanton bomb.
Match 4: In a Blondfold Death Match where the referee was blondfolded, DDT Extreme Champion To-y beat Akito, Super Sasadango Machine, Kazuki Hirata & Abtonio Honda in a 5-way by pinning Hirata to retain the title. V4 for To-y. Next up: Takagi perhaps.
Match 5: Jun Akiyama, Shinya Aoki & Yuya Koroku beat Tetsuya Endo, HAYATA & Junta Miyawaki (Pro Wrestling NOAH). Akiyama pinned Miyawaki after Exploder.
Match 6: AMAKUSA (Pro Wrestling NOAH) beat Daisuke Sasaki. AMAKUSA was a replacement for the absent Danshoku Dieno (medical issues). More on that at the bottom of this post.
Match 7: MAO & KANON beat KO-D Tag Team Champions Yuki Iino & Yukio Naya and Chihiro Hashimoto & Yuu in a 3-way elimination match to win the titles. MAO & KANON become the 88th KO-D Tag Team Champions. Iino first eliminated Yuu then MAO pinned Iino.
Match 8: Zack Sabre Jr. (New Japan) beat Chris Brookes.
Match 9: Konosuke Takeshita & Kaisei Takechi beat Kazusada Higuchi & Takeshi Masada. Takeshita pinned Masada after Raging Fire. Afterwards, Takechi further pushed for a match against Takeshita.
Main Event: KO-D Openweight Champion Yuki Ueno beat DDT Universal Champion Minoru Suzuki for both titles. Ueno becomes the 19th DDT Universal Champion. V2 for Ueno. They went over 34 minutes. Afterwards, Ueno declared he wanted to lead DDT in running Tokyo Dome for the first time. But before that…next up: Super Sasadango Machine. That match will happen on 11/30 at Korakuen Hall for both titles.
As for Dieno, DDT provided an update on his condition-he continues to recover from complications from appendicitis and, to get fully prepared physically to return (which was to have been today but did not happen), he will be out the rest of the month. Dieno is now scheduled to return on 11/30.
The next event is Thursday at Shinjuku Face. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET.
UPDATE: It’s now official. Takagi is next for To-y and the DDT Extreme Championship. That match will happen on 11/30. Rules TBA.
UPDATE 2: MAO and Iino are now off Thursday. The always vague poor health.
UPDATE 3: Now a whole bunch more are out-KANON, Akito, Jun Akiyama, and Yukio Naya who missed 11/7 and are now off 11/8 and 11:9. The always vague poor health. So something is going around
