DDT ran another of their “Because DDT” themed events today, this one a Valentine’s Day…sort of…themed event produced by The37Kamiina faction, mostly an excuse to gift themselves some fancy spa getaways…you know, because DDT and they’re all about the WER!
Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.
The announced paid attendance was 306, a super full house/very near sellout.
Match 1: MAO & Shunma Katsumata beat Shiori Asahi & Makoto Oishi, Chris Brookes & Masa Takanashi and Tsutomu Oosugi & Banana Senga in a 4-way when MAO pinned Oishi.
Match 2: D Generations Cup Block A: Illusion beat Kazuma Sumi. Both were already out of contention and trying to just finish with a win.
Match 3: D Generations Cup Block B: Yuki Ishida beat Keigo Nakamura. Both are now out of contention (Ishida already was, Nakamura would’ve stayed in it with a win).
Match 4: In a handicap match, Yuki Ueno beat Gorgeous Matsuno & Gabai Grandpa, pinning Matsuno after a Grandpa Swanton Bomb.
Match 5: Yasu Urano beat Toui Kojima.
Match 6: “Konosuke Takeshita” (Sakura Hirota) & Akito beat Tetsuya Endo & Kazuki Hirata. “Takeshita” pinned Hirata after a jumping knee. This was a comedy match with Hirota dressed up as Takeshita.

In an elimination match with 2 count falls and over the top rope rules, Yuki Ueno beat MAO, Shunma Katsumata beat Ueno, Toui Kojima beat Katsumata. Kojima wins.
As far as the D Generations Cup goes, the final matches are on 2/18. Block A will be won by the Hideki Okatani-Yuya Koroku winner, Block B will be won by Kojima unless he loses to Takeshi Masada, then it’s a tie but if it’s head-to-head results to decide then Masada wins the block.
The next event is Saturday at Nagoya International Conference Center in Nagoya. There are 2 title matches headlining this event-DDT Extreme Champion Jun Akiyama vs. Akito in an Environmental Utilization Battle Match for the title (the ropes will be set up differently than usual for this one and different rules for rope breaks) and DDT Universal Champion Naruki Doi vs. KANON for the title. All Elite Wrestling star Kip Sabian will make his DDT debut as well, so he’ll be heading right to Japan after tomorrow’s AEW Dynamite. And now that we know his whereabouts, there’s a chance Daisuke Sasaki shows up so card subject to change if that happens. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at midnight PT/3 AM ET.
