STARDOM DREAM QUEENDOM 2024, the promotion’s year-end blowout event, took place earlier today. Below are quick results I found since the promotion is always slow to post results, more details will be added later.
Today’s event was held at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo and can be watched on demand as a PPV on Stardom World in Japanese & English for around $30 US. Ami Sohrei was a guest on Japanese commentary while Xena was a guest on English commentary. It will be available to all monthly subscribers on or after 1/11/25. You can also watch the pre-show and the first PPV match FOR FREE on YouTube.
The paid attendance has not yet been announced. Based on advance ticket sales I think they’ll do a bit better than DDT did yesterday there with a reduced capacity setup, which was 3579 (near sellout). 4500-5000 sounds possible. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 4023, a legit sellout)
Pre-show:
Match 1: Yuna Mizumori & Aya Sakura beat ChiCHI (Evolution) & Matoi Hamabe. Mizumori pinned Hamabe.
Match 2: Ranna Yagami vs. Sayaka Kurara went to a 15 minute time limit draw.
PPV:
Match 1: Hanan & Saya Iida beat Goddesses Of Stardom Champions Momo Watanabe & Thekla to win the titles. Hanan & Iida become the 35th Goddesses Of Stardom Champions. Hanan pinned Thekla with a backdrop hold. Probably the most slam-dunk result given how much trouble Thekla has caused lately and Watanabe seems in line for a singles push again. Nonetheless, it caps off the true breakout 2024 for Hanan and cements her as THE future of Stardom. She should be singles champion soon and many times over to come.
Match 2; Mina Shirakawa, Waka Tsukiyama, HANAKO & Rian beat Saki Kashima, Tomoka Inaba, Lady C & Hina and Rina, Azusa Inaba, Ruaka & Fukigen in a 3-way when Shirakawa pinned Fukigen.
Match 3: AZM, Mei Seira, Suzu Suzuki & Miyu Amasaki beat Mayu Iwatani, Momo Kohgo, Hazuki & Koguma. AZM pinned Kohgo after Azumi Sushi.
Match 4: Saori Anou beat Mika Iwata (Sendai Girls).
Match 5: Syuri beat Konami by DQ in 33 seconds. H.A.T.E. interference. Former GLEAT wrestler Maya Fukuda then appeared and made the save, seemingly aligning with Syuri and hinting at joining Stardom in 2025.
Match 6: In a No DQ Match. Natsuko Tora beat Maika.
Match 7: Starlight Kid beat Wonder Of Stardom Champion Natsupoi to win the title. Kid becomes the 24th Wonder Of Stardom Champion. At last, you could say.
Main Event: Saya Kamitani beat World Of Stardom Champion Tam Nakano to win the title. Kamitani becomes the 20th World Of Stardom Champion. And righted the wrongs that was the 5STAR GP and fallout. Nakano never should have gotten a title shot after starting 0-3 and going winless then winning the title from Tora, even with the logical explanation she only lost the title at the end of December 2023 due to having to vacate it (injury). This result, like it or not, saved Stardom’s 2024 to me. Tam Road has ended and the queen is dead. Long Live The Phenex Queen! As for Nakano, now she has to deal with the returning Sayaka Unagi.
The next event is STARDOM NEW YEAR DREAM 2025 Friday at Tokyo Garden Theater in Tokyo. Broadcast plans TBA but the current lineup which includes 3 potential pre-show matches suggests it could be, albeit on very late notice, another PPV. If there is a live broadcast on Stardm World, PPV or not, it should begin Thursday at 11 PM PT/2 AM ET.
UPDATE: PPV again Friday on Stardom World. 4400 yen/around $30 US. Non-PPV version available on or after 1/11 (may now be 4680 yen). It will be available in Japanese and English with Ami Sohrei & Xena as guests again on the Japanese & English versions, respectively.
UPDATE 2: After this event, Hazuki & Koguma went to the OZ Academy year-event at Korakuen Hall and beat Ryo Mizunami & Sonoko Kato to win the OZ Academy Tag Team Championship. Hazuki & Koguma become the 40th Champions. Next defense upcoming likely is against Mizunami & Cohaku.
