DDT runs their monthly tour-ender event today, GOD BLESS DDT 2024, in Tokyo. It’s lean on match quantity but headlined by 2 title matches-First up is a DDT Extreme Championship match as Akito defends against Danshoku Dieno, with as usual weird rules: There are 9 win conditions and prohibited moves, to be chosen pre-match by the referee. Only the referee will know them-nobody else will, to include the wrestlers and fans. In the main event, Shinya Aoki defends the KO-D Openweight Championship against HARASHIMA. And ahead of a DDT debut at the end of 2024, another actor (can’t quite get his name right from translations) will appear at the event to greet the fans. I already expect him to debut against Kaisei Takechi. Also keep an eye out for the usual Iron Man Heavymetalweight Championship wackiness, especially in and starting with the second match.

Because Kota Ibushi was scheduled to appear and that will not happen for unspecified reasons, DDT is offering refunds to those who had purchased tickets before the announcement so that may affect today’s attendance and ticket availability.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. Actor Takumi Momose will be a guest on commentary. There are only 6 matches today so even with the title main events this probably will be a “regular” Korakuen event with a runtime of around 2 1/2 hours.

Too early to get a prediction right now but advance tickets suggest it could be 1000+. DDT has announced a card change for an event this weekend (after Thursday’s event), and it’s noteworthy because it affects a title match-Takayuki Ueki, one member of the KO-D 10-Man Tag Team Champions, is now off. The event. Dislocated right shoulder. Reportedly happened in a match recently. Out indefinitely. Munetatsu Nakamura is the replacement and the title match will go on as planned. It will be interesting to see who is recognized as titleholder should the champs retain, but there is a chance the match will be cancelled last-minute: The event is to be held outdoors so if the weather is bad (rain), it’s possibly off (admission is free).

Today’s event was held at El Caimo Yatsushiro in Kumamoto and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE Thursday. There was no live broadcast.

DDT kicked off their October tour today with the final event for Makoto Oishi before he retires from full-time wrestling to relocate and spend more time with his family (he may still compete part-time including when DDT is in his area) and also the third match for Kaisei Takechi, just days after “The Rampage” had his second career match.

The announced paid attendance was 500, a legit advance sellout. 100% legit full capacity sellout. (500 is the venue’s max capacity for wrestling)

DDT runs their monthly signature Tokyo event today, and it’s another huge one today because it features the return of Kaisei Takechi. “The Rampage”, a member of a popular sports athlete/entertainment group in Japan (legit sports entertainment!), he made his pro wrestling debut in DDT in February which garnered almost unprecedented mainstream attention for the promotion and brought in many new (younger female) fans, quickly selling out Korakuen Hall to watch the popular Takechi compete. He’s gonna do it again today, teaming again with The37Kamiina in the main event. Before that, there’s a unique DDT Extreme Championship match as it will be defended in a tag team match so Shunma Katsumata can lose the title without being beaten and Akito can win it under similar circumstances. There’s also a potential hoss fight for the DDT Universal Championship as Yuki Iino defends against Yukio Naya. And the always-subject-to-change plans include a DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Championship match where you never know what will happen with the true 24/7 title of pro wrestling.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. It will also be streamed live for free on ABEMA in Japan. The event is a legit advance sellout. Riki Matsui, a member of dance/music group BALLISTIK BOYZ, will be a special guest on commentary for the second time, the first being when Takechi debuted here in February. This is being billed as a 3 hour special event, and is starting earlier than usual for a Korakuen Sunday morning event, so that’s what to plan on time-wise.
There is also a PPV available for pre-order on WRESTLE UNIVERSE which is a support package for Takechi. It can be purchased for 3500 Japanese yen (around $25 US) and will feature a special movie, a digitally signed smartphone wallpaper and a chance to win a signed photo. The PPV is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday at 4 AM PT/7 AM ET and can be watched until 10/21 at 10 PM PT/1 AM ET. It can be purchased until 10/14. (The first one they did is available on another streaming service but requires a paid membership, which costs about $8/month US and is available worldwide).

Result: Akito & Yuni beat DDT Extreme Champion Shunma Katsumata & Kazuma Sumi when Yuni caused Katsumata to break the lighttube. As a result, Akito wins the title. Akito becomes the 60th DDT Extreme Champion. Next up: Akito asked for Dieno, who came out with his dog. Although I heard the one thing during Akito’s comments I thought we’d never hear again…the deplorable Pheromones. Seems like Akito might want Danshoku “Dandy” Dieno. Regardless, GM Imabayashi makes it official for 10/20.

Match 6: DDT Universal Champion Yuki Iino vs. Yukio Naya for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: DDT Universal Champion Yuki Iino beat Yukio Naya to retain the title. V1 for Iino. Afterwards, To-y with microphone. For I believe the 4th time he tried to cash in his “Money In The Bank” title shot and once again Iino speared it out of him. Iino told GM Imabayashi to make the match and it was. For 10/12 at Acros Fukuoka.

Main Event: Kaisei Takechi, Yuki Ueno & MAO vs. Chris Brookes, Takeshi Masada & Masa Takanashi. 30 minute time limit
Result: Kaisei Takechi, Yuki Ueno & MAO beat Chris Brookes, Takeshi Masada & Masa Takanashi. Ueno pinned Masada after WR. Of course the atmosphere was absolutely electric, with the many female fans in the crowd reacting loudly to Takechi’s every action. Almost sounded like a US wrestling crowd. Different music for Ueno too than what we’re used to hearing. Afterwards, Ueno briefly put Takechi over then handed over the microphone to let the star attraction address the fans. I think now we have to wait and see when we’ll get the answer to the obvious question…third match sometime in the future? But Takechi was interrupted by Oishi, who along with Dieno will face MAO & Shunma Katsumata Thursday in his last DDT match before retiring for the KO-D Tag Team Championship. Takechi then got to finish his comments and thank the crowd for coming to end the show. With Oishi crowding in for the photo ops.

The next event is Thursday at Shinjuku Face with 2 title matches, including Makoto Oishi’s final DDT match which is a KO-D Tag Team Championship match. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 3 AM PT/6 AM ET.

UPDATE: Said third Kaisei Takechi match will happen. Thursday. Post-event urgent addition. Will be Takechi & Oishi vs. Akito & Hirata. That means 2 matches for Oishi that day.

DDT ran the second half of a Hokkaido doubleheader today.

Today’s event was held at Sapporo Sun Plaza in Hokkaido and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE Thursday. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 313, a full house/near sellout.

Match 1: Daisuke Sasaki & KANON beat Yuki Ishida & Illusion. KANON beat Ishida with Just Cobra Twist.

Match 2: Tetsuya Endo, Yuki Iino & Makoto Oishi beat Tomoya, Akito & Kazuki Hirata. Oishi pinned Hirata. Once again To-y tried to cash in his ‘Money In The Bank” title shot for a DDT Universal Championship match and once again Iino prevented this with a spear beforehand.

Match 3: Jun Akiyama & Takashi Yoshida (Dragon Gate) beat Yuki Ueno & Keigo Nakamura. Yoshida pinned Nakamura.

Match 4: Shinya Aoki beat Yuya Koroku by submission.

Match 6: Danshoku Dieno beat DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion Chris Brookes to win the title. Dieno becomes the 1671st Champion. There was a special rule here that a fall only counted after a kiss while wearing thongs. Only in DDT.

Main Event: HARASHIMA, Yukio Naya & Kazuma Sumi beat MAO, Shunma Katsumata & To-y. Sumi pinned To-y with a schoolboy. As a result, Sumi wins To-y’s title shot. Which led to…
Impromptu Match: In a Falls Count Anywhere Schoolboy Only 1 Count Match, DDT Extreme Champion Shunma Katsumata beat Kazuma Sumi to retain the title. V6 for Katsumata. Sumi cashed in the title shot right away. Special rule for the match was you could only win with a schoolboy and 1 count only.
