BREAKING: GLEAT Wrestler Retires (Updated)

While they haven’t posted today’s results yet, GLEAT has announced breaking news: Yukari Hosokawa, one of the female wresters on their roster, has retired effective immediately. However, the door was potentially open for a return as Hosokawa is only 19. She began training in 2017 in HEAT UP under the tutelage of current GLEAT wrestler Yu Iizuka before officially debuting in 2019. She had never won a singles match but had some success in tag team matches.

UPDATE: Now it’s GLEAT Wrestlers Retiring. Also announced during the event was that Kaz Hayashi will retire on 7/1/24 at GLEAT’s annual biggest event of the year when they run GLEAT Ver. 12 at TDC Hall.

GLEAT 12/24/23 Results (With FREE Full Event Video)

GLEAT held their last G PROWRESTLING event of the year this past Sunday, which also was a KAZMA SAKAMOTO 20th Anniversary event. The big man began his career as KAZMA in TAKA Michonoku’s old K-DOJO (Kaientai Dojo) promotion/wrestling school in Chiba Prefecture, then jumped to WWE where he had a stint as KAZMA SAKAMOTO, then kept that name when he returned to Japan following his WWE release.

Sunday’s event was held at Umeda Stellar Hall in Osaka and can now be watched on demand FOR FREE on YouTube. There was no live broadcast, but the full event was uploaded earlier today. You can also watch the full video below, video courtesy of the GLEAT Official YouTube Channel:

Match 1: Issei Onitsuka, Masato Kamino & Tomoaki Honma (New Japan Pro Wrestling) beat Kotaro Suzuki, Keiichi Sato & Hartley Jackson. Onitsuka pinned Sato after a Frankensteiner.

Match 2: Fire Katsumi (Just Tap Out) beat Jun Tonsho.

Match 3: Minoru Tanaka & JD Lee beat Galeno Del Mal & Tommy Knight. Tanaka beat Knight with Minoru Leg Bar.

Match 4: Soma Watanabe & Yuya Susumu beat Takanori Ito & Tetsuya Izuchi. Watanabe pinned Ito after Firebird Splash.

Match 5: Kaito Ishida beat Seiichi Ikemoto.

Match 6: KAZMA SAKAMOTO 20th Anniversary Match: Tatsumi Fujinami (Dradition) & Kaz Hayashi beat KAZMA SAKAMOTO & TAKA Michinoku. Fujinami beat SAKAMOTO with a dragon sleeper.

Main Event: T-Hawk, El Lindaman & CIMA beat Ryuichi Kawakami, Hayato Tamura & Check Shimatani. CIMA pinned Shimatani.

GLEAT ran a GLEAT Ver. EX event today as they wind down the build to their next blowout event coming up in a few weeks at the start of the new year.

Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand FOR FREE on YouTube.

The announced paid attendance was 226.

Match 1: Takanori Ito & Yusuke Kodama beat Soma Watanabe & Jun Tonsho. Ito pinned Tonsho with a German suplex hold.

Match 2: Galeno Del Mal won a 5 person battle royal, last eliminating Hartley Jackson. The other participants were Masato Kamino, Aja Kong & Daisuke Sekimoto.

Match 3: Kaz Hayashi, El Lindaman & Issei Onitsuka beat Kotaro Suzuki, Keiichi Sato & HANAOKA. Lindaman pinned Sato with a German suplex hold. Afterwards, Kuroshio TOKYO Japan appeared and was announced for 12/30, possibly in a 6-man tag match with Colt Cabana & Brandon Cutler from All Elite Wrestling.

Match 4: Aoi beat MICHIKO. Afterwards, Aoi announced she was leaving DIAMOND EGOIST, MICHIKO’s current faction, and asked to re-form a team with Sayaka Unagi. But Yukari Hosokawa then appeared and declared her loyalty to MICHIKO.

Match 5; Kaito Ishida beat Ryuichi Kawakami.

Match 6: T-hawk, Jun & Rei Saito beat Hayato Tamura, KAZMA SAKAMOTO & Check Shimatani. T-Hak pinned Shimatani after Night Ride.

Main Event: Lidet UWF Championship Next Challenger Tournament Finals: Minoru Tanaka beat Tetsuya Izuchi by submission to win the tournament. As a result, Tanaka will fight Lidet UWF Champion Fujita “Jr.” Hayato for the title on 12/30 at Tokyo Dome City Hall.

The next event is 12/24 at Umeda Stellar Hall in Osaka for the final G PROWRESTLING event of the year and the last event before TDC Hall. Broadcast plans TBA but since it’s in Osaka there almost certainly will be no live broadcast. If that’s the case, it will be available on demand on YouTube a few days after the event.

Injury Report: Yu Is Not Feeling GLEAT

Constant bad puns aside, GLEAT continues to get hit hard by constant injuries the last few months, today they reported Yu Iizuka is the latest casualty. Zygomatic fracture or, in simpler medical terms, face/facial trauma/fracture. Out a long time per their release, so likely several months or more. Upcoming card changes pending.

GLEAT ran their latest G PROWRESTLING event today, returning to Osaka for today’s event headlined by a G-REX Championship match.

Today’s event was held at Umeda Stellar Hall in Osaka and will be available on demand on YouTube at a later date (probably Tuesday or Wednesday). There was no live broadcast.

Match 1: Soma Watanabe & Yuys Susumu beat Takanori Ito & Fire Katsumi. Watanabe pinned Katsumi after Firebird Splash.

Match 2: Ryuichi Kawakami beat Keiichi Sato.

GLEAT 11/3/23 Results

GLEAT ran their latest G PROWRESTLING event today, returning to Tokyo to further set up some upcoming major title matches.

Today’s event was held at Tokyo FM Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on YouTube (this was a live stream earlier today).

The announced paid attendance was 230, a legit sellout.

Match 1: Takanori Ito, Yusuke Kodama, Masato Kamino & Yumehito Imanari beat Minoru Tanaka, Kaz Hayashi, Jun Tonsho & Tomoaki Honma (New Japn). Kamino pinned Tonsho after a lariat. After the match, 2AW Openweight Champion Takuro Niki came out and nominated Hayashi as his next challenger. That match will be held in 2AW on 12/3 at Korakuen Hall.

Match 2: G INFINITY Challenger Tournament: KAZMA SAKAMOTO & Quiet Storm beat Yu Iizuka & Tetsuya Izuchi. Storm pinned Izuchi after 53cm Arm Lariat.

Match 3: G INFINITY Challenger Tournament: Hartley Jackson & Keiichi Sato beat Soma Watanabe & Yuya Susumu by ref stoppage. Jackson beat Watanabe with a muffler hold.

Match 4: Kotaro Suzuki beat JD Lee.

Match 5: T-Hawk, El Lindaman & Junjae beat Ryuichi Kawakami, Hayato Tamura & Check Shimatani. Junjae pinned Shimatani after a rolling lariat.

Afterwards, Minoru Tanaka came out to announce a 4-man tournament with Takanori Ito, Soma Watanabe, Yu Iizuka & Tetsuya Izuchi with the winner getting to face Lidet UWF Champion Fujita “Jr.” Hayato for the title. The tournament will begin on 11/23 at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama with the winners facing off on 12/10 at Shinjuku Face. The title match will be on 12/30 at TDC Hall.

Match 6: Sayaka Unagi vs. MICHIKO went to a 15 minute time limit draw.

Match 7: G INFINITY Challenger Tournament Finals: KAZMA SAKAMOTO & Quiet Storm beat Hartley Jackson & Keiichi Sato to win the tournament. SAKAMOTO pinned Sato after New Tiger King Subtype. As a result, KAZMA & Storm will face G INFINITY Champions Jun & Rei Saito for the titles on 11/18 at Nishitetsu Hall in Fukuoka.

Main Event: Kaito Ishida beat Issei Onitsuka. As a result, Ishida will face Takehiro Yamanura on 12/30.

The next event is 11/12 at Umeda Sky Building Stellar Hall in Osaka. Broadcast plans TBA but since it’s Osaka, there probably will be no live broadcast and it will be on YouTube a few days later.

GLEAT 10/21/23 Results

GLEAT ran their latest G PROWRESTLING event Saturday, returning to regular host city Osaka for another house show.

Saturday’s event was held at Umeda Stellar Hall in Osaka and will be available on demand on YouTube Tuesday at 4 AM PT/7 AM ET. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 203.

Match 1: Issei Onitsuka & Fire Katsumi beat Andy Wu & JD Lee. Onitsuka pinned Lee after a spear.

Match 2: Aoi beat Azusa Inaba.

Match 3: Kotaro Suzuki beat Jun Tonsho by submission.

Match 4: Hartley Jackson & Keiichi Sato beat Soma Watanabe & Yuya Susumu. Jackson pinned Watanabe with Hartley No. 1 Leg Roll Clutch. Afterwards, Jackson issued a G INFINITY Championship challenge. Not a given as they could get the next shot at champions Jun & Rei Saito, but they’ve first got to win a 1-day tournament at the enxt event.

CIMA announced he will return on 11/12.

Match 5: Yusuke Kodama & Masato Kamino beat T-Hawk & El Lindaman. Kamino pinned T-Hawk after a lariat. Afterwards, Kamino issued a G REX Championship challenge to T-Hawk. Accepted. That match will happen on 11/12.

Match 6: Kaz Hayashi, Minoru Tanaka, Yu Iizuka & Tomoaki Honma (New Japan) beat Ryuichi Kawakami, KAZMA SAKAMOTO, Check Shimatani & Magnitude Kishiwada. Iizuka beat Shimatani with an armbar.

Main Event: Hayato Tamura beat Takanori Ito, Tetsuya Izuchi & Kaito Ishida in a 4-way by pinning Ito.

The next event is 11/3 at Tokyo FM Hall in Tokyo. Broadcast plans TBA.

News: GLEAT Absence This Weekend

While this one is not injury-related, GLEAT has bene forced to report on yet another in a long list of countless wrestler absences from recent events, this time announcing that Junjae is off this Saturday’s G PROWRESTLING event. Family emergency. He was to have teamed with JD Lee to face Issei Onitsuka & Fire Katsumi. No replacement named yet.

GLEAT 10/9/23 Results

GLEAT ran their latest major event today, dubbed GLEAT Ver. EX.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on YouTube (it was a free live broadcast).

The announced paid attendance was 729.

Match 1: Kaz Hayashi, Minoru Tanaka, Yu Iizuka, Jun Tonsho & Junjie beat Hagane Shinno, Yumehito Inanari, Shota, Mizuki Watase & Kaji Tomato. Hayashi pinned Imanari.

Match 2: Tomoaki Honma (New Japan) & Ryota Hama beat Kotaro Suzuki & Hartley Jackson. Honma pinned Jackson after Kokeshi. Wow, haven’t seen or heard from Hama in a long time, not since the former sumo wrestler left All-Japan after former yokozuna (Grand Champion) Akebono did (their SMOP tag team was something else).

Match 3: MICHIKO, Aoi, Risa Sera & Arisa Nakajima beat Yukari Hosokawa, Sayaka Unagi, Itsuki Aoki & Yurika Oka. MICHIKO pinned Hosokawa.
