GLEAT 7/16/23 Results

GLEAT ran their latest G PROWRESTLING event yesterday, the first event since their anniversary event at the start of the month.

Yesterday’s event was held at Uneda Sky Building StellarHall in Osaka and will be available on demand on YouTube tomorrow morning. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 244.

Match 1: Minoru Tanaka, Keiichi Sato & Yuya Susumu beat Kaz Hayashi, Yu Iizuka & Jun Tonsho. Sato pinned Tonsho with a leg lock clutch hold.

Match 2: Issei Onitsuka & Yusuke Kodama beat Seiichi Ikemoto & Fire Katsumi. Kodama pinned Katsumi after Mad Splash.

Match 3: Kotaro Suzuki & Hartley Jackson beat Magnitude Kishiwada & Junjae. Suzuki pinned Junjae with La Magistral. Afterwatds, Keiicho Sato joined Black Generation International after Kaito Ishida extended an invite. Yuya Susumu also was asked to join but didn’t answer.

Match 4: Quiet Storm beat Ryuichi Kawakami. Afterwards, Storm apparently tried to leave Bulk Orchestra but was talked out of it. Then Kawakami announced he & Galeno Dep Mar will challenge G INFINITY Champions Jun & Rei Saito for the titles on 8/4.

During intermission here CIMA held a special 5 minute training session with Commissioner Masato Yoshino, a former wrestler who spent most of his career in Dragon Gate with CIMA. Yoshino was one of the fastest wrestlers ever during a career cut short by injury, able to run the ring ropes with blinding speed. Seiki Yoshioka may be the closest thing I’ve seen to Yoshino in terms of speed.

Match 5: T-Hawk & Shigehiro Irie beat Hayato Tamura & KAZMA SAKAMOTO. T-Hawk pinned SAKAMOTO after Cerberus.

Main Event: El Lindaman, Soma Watanabe & Check Shimatani beat Takanori Ito, Tetsuya Izuchi & Galeno Del Mar. Lindaman pinned Ito with a German suplex hold. Afterwards, Ishida announced he would return from injury on 8/4 and Lindaman recruited several participants in the match for a 10-man tag against a Kota Ibushi-led team on 8/4.

The next event is GLEAT Ver. MEGA on 8/4 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, their debut at the famed sumo venue. Broadcast plans TBA. The venue will probably be at 70-75% capacity as the mass/box seats that hold up to 4 people for sumo will only be used at half capacity (2 per box).
