After the PPV debacle that was Windy City Riot, literally and figuratively, New Japan is trying again tonight with their next US event, Capital Collision, as they head to Washington, DC for the first time. They already have ran into problems though, as last night they were forced to make several card changes because All Elite Wretling star Trent Beretta, scheduled for one of the featured matches, tested positive for the coronavirus and is now off. The promotion has promised greatly improved technical capabilities to avoid a repeat of what happened last month so hopefully it goes off without a hitch. The main event will feature a 4-way for the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship.
Today’s event will be held at Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, DC and can be watched LIVE on FITE in English for $19.99. You also get unlimited on demand replays with purchase. Also, it’s completely risk-free: If there are any technical issues with the stream like with Windy City Riot’s live broadcast, you can request a refund from FITE and you will get your money back in full, no questions asked. The PPV is also available in Japanese on New Japan World, but that will cost around $24 in addition to monthly subscription fees if you are not a subscriber. Subscribers still have to pay for the event for now.
There is also seheduled to be a 30 minute FREE pre-show on YouTube before the event. This may feature a pre-show dark match for the live crowd but that is not definite. Said match will not be on the PPV stream.
I expect the event’s total run time to be in the range of 3-3 1/2 hours.
