New Japan kicks off the G1 CLIMAX 36, the promotion’s biggest annual tournament and unofficial official start of the Road to Tokyo Dome, today and, for maybe the first time ever (second at most), it starts in the US. The first day will feature almost the entire field competing in matches, except for two in Block B (Drilla Moloney & Gabrirl Kidd). All of Block A will be in action.
On a side note, the promotion did a social media poll in Japan asking fans to vote on who from each block they felt would win. Their predictions? Konosuke Takeshita & Yuya Uemura. Make note if you’re keeping score!
Today’s event will be held at Now Arena in Chicago, IL and can be watched LIVE on New Japan World (NO PPV) in Japanese (presumably) & English. All matches are G1 CLIMAX matches with a 30 minute time limit so it could go as long as 4 1/2-5 hours but since this is the US I imagine it will be around 3 hours.
