Stardom continues the 5STAR GP today with the final day of the preliminary round. The remaining 2 matches in each of the 4 blocks will be held then we know who will advance to the playoffs-the winner of each block goes to the Quarterfinals, the rest go to Round 1 where 2nd place in each block faces 3rd place from the other block. We start with Red A, which has AZM vs. Rina and Maika vs. Akira Kurogame. AZM & Maika will both advance, but if AZM wins and Maika loses or draws, AZM wins the block. If both win, Maika wins the block because she beat AZM. But if Rina beats AZM and Maika loses, Rina will advance and knock Itsuki Aoki out AND there will be a tiebreaker between Rina & Maika for the block winner. Aoki advances only if AZM beats Rina. Now Red B, has Mei Seira vs. Utami Hayashishita and Maki Itoh vs. Konami. It’s a bit simpler here-the Itoh-Konami winner, if there is one, wins the block. If it’s a draw or no contest, Saya Iida wins the block. For Seira to advance, she must beat Hayashishita AND Itoh-Konami MUST BE A NO CONTEST OR DOUBLE DQ (something that means no points for both). Rina Yamashita can advance if Serira loses or draws AND Itoh-Konami is a no points scenario (Yamashita beat Konami but Itoh was a draw). If there somehow is a 5-way tie, Iida and Seira will advance while Konami would get 3rd on the second tiebreaker, which is wins. Now on to Blue A: Today it’s HANAKO vs. Ruaka and Suzu Suzuki vs. Julia Hart. Suzuki has advanced. If she beats Hart or it’s a draw, Suzuki wins the block. HANAKO advances with a win OR draw AND Hart loss. Hart must win AND Ruaka must beat HANAKO to advance. Ruaka must beat HANAKO AND Hart must lose or draw to advance. If Ruaka & Hart tie, tiebreaker goes to Ruaka. If both Ruaka and Hart win, HANAKO is OUT. Finally, Blue B: The last matches are Hanan vs. Saya Kamitani and Ami Sohrei vs. Starlight Kid. Kid has advanced. The Kid-Sohrei winner, if there is one, wins the block. Kamitani advances if she beats Hanan but can’t win the block because Sohrei has the tiebreaker. Hanan must win AND Kid must beat Sohrei to advance. Momo Watanabe has the absolute slimmest of chances to advance but still can IF Kid beats Sohrei AND Hanan-Kamitani is a no points scenario AND she beats Kamitani in a subsequent rematch because their tiebreakers are even (draw and same number of wins). That would mean Sohrei is OUT. Strap in for absolute chaos as every match is critical.
Today’s event will be held at Act City Hamamatsu Event Hall Block 2 in Shizuoka and can be watched LIVE on Stardom World. There will be no commentary. There are 8 matches scheduled and may be more if tiebreaker matches are needed so plan on this event going at least 2 1/2 hours even though matches are 15 minute time limits plus an intermission.
