New Japan continued their annual Hokkaido tour today with the halfway point event.
Today’s event was held at Irie Sports Park General Gym in Hokkaido and can be watched on demand on New Japan World. (It’s all live & on demand the rest of the tour now)
The announced paid attendance was 1150.
Match 1: Taisei Nakahara beat Yusahin Hatazawa. (I’ve been inadvertently spelling it wrong as Hatasawa)
Match 2: Shun Skywalker won a 14 man battle royal, last eliminating Shota Umino.
Match 3: Gedo & Jeff Cobb beat Zane Jay & Callum Newman. Cobb pinned Jay after Tour of the Islands.
Match 4: Taichi, Yuya Uemura & Aaron Wolf beat Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa & Kosei Fujita. Uemura pinned Jackson after Lions Shiner.
Match 5: Daiki Nagai, Robbie X, Taiji Ishimori, Shingo Takagi & Yota Tsuji beat Tatsuya Matsumoto, Ryusuke Taguchi, Yoh, YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto. Ishimori beat Matsumoto with Bone Lock.
Main Event: OSKAR (The Grouch) & Yuto Ice (Ice Baby) beat Toru Yano & Togi Makabe. Ice pinned Makabe after KOB. As a result, OSKAR & Ice will get the next IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship shot. But let’s point out the real talking point here-Makabe & Yano, who are well over 100 years old combined, managed to hang with the duo about half their age for nearly 34 minutes. 34 MINUTES! That really says something. When said title match happens it TBA but I’m thinking either DESTRUCTION of KING OF PRO WRESTLING as it all but has to be before the upcoming World Tag League.
