DESTRUCTION, New Japan’s annual September Kobe blowout event, is now in the books.
Today’s event was held at Kobe World Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand OUTSIDE JAPAN ONLY on New Japan World. This event aired as part of WORLD PRO WRESTLING LIVE 2026 exclusively on TV Asahi in Japan.
The announced paid attendance was 4870, a super full house/very near sellout. But that would only be about 60-65% capacity as the venue’s full capacity is between 8000-8500.
There were several last-minute changes to the event due to Kosei Fujita, Yuya Uemura & Yushin Hatazawa all being pulled off the event. Fujita-right knee injury. Uemura & Hatazawa-the always vague poor health. Matches were changed and a pre-show match was cancelled as a result.
Match 1: Toru Yano, Mistico, El Desperado, Boltin Oleg & Shota Umino beat Dick Togo, Sho, DOUKI, SANADA & Ren Narita. Umino pinned Togo after Second Chapter.
Match 2: Master Wato, Ryusuke Taguchi & Yoh beat Gedo, Taiji Ishimori & Robbie X. Wato pinned Gedo after a swan dive elbow smash.
Match 3: Daiki Nagai, OSKAR (The Grouch) & Yuto Ice (Ice Baby) beat Zane Jay, Great-O-Khan & HENARE. Ice pinned Jay after Cruella.
Match 4: Zack Sabre Jr. & Ryohei Oiwa beat Taichi & Aaron Wolf. Oiwa pinned Taichi after The Grip.
Match 5: Callum Newman beat Jeff Cobb.
Match 6: Shun Skywalker beat NJPW WORLD TV Champion Konosuke Takeshita to win the title. Skywalker becomes the 11th NJPW WORLD TV Champion. This match will be available on demand FOR FREE on YouTube at a later date.
Match 7: Shingo Takagi beat Claudio Castagnoli (All Elite Wrestling).
Match 8: IWGP Global Champion Gabriel Kidd beat Drilla Moloney to retain the title. V1 for Kidd. Next up: Umino.
Main Event: IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji beat Hirooki Goto to retain the title. V2 for Tsuji. Next up: As previously announced, Oiwa who will cash in his G1 CLIMAX 36 victory reward early and not wait until Tokyo Dome. That match will happen on 10/12 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.
The next event is 10/6 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo to start the Road To KING OF PRO WRESTLING 2026 Tour, a short 4-event sprint to 10/12, with a doubleheader. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 2:30 AM PT/5:30 AM ET. (The last 2 events, in Ishikawa & Niigata, will be non-televised)
