AEW Collision 9/9/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Collision in Cleveland, OH:

Match 1: AEW International Champion Jon Moxley vs. Action Andretti for the title
Result: AEW International Champion Jon Moxley beat Action Andretti by submission to retain the title.

Match 2: AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander vs. TBA for the title. TBA is Robyn Renegade.
Result: AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander beat Robyn Renegade to retain the title. Squash. Afterwards The Renegades beat down Statlander but Jade Cargill returned to make the save. Then left Statlander JADED.

Eddie Kingston & Claudio Castagnoli interviewed. Kingston says he’ll defend the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship vs. Castagnoli on 9/20. (UPDATE: The match will also be for Castagnoli’s ROH World Championship, a double title match)

Match 2: Juice Robinson & Gunn Club vs. Dios Del Inframundo, Aerostar & Gravity. This was to have been an 8-man tag with Metalik & Jay White but White was a last-minute removal from tonight due to personal reasons. Metalik was also removed as a result
Result: Juice Robinson & Gunn Club beat Dios Del Inframundo, Aerostar & Gravity. Robinson pinned ?. Glorified squash.

CJ Perry promo. She wants to be Lana, the coldest manager in wrestling, again.

Match 3: Rey Fenix vs. Angelico
Result: Rey Fenix beat Angelico

FTR promo. Yet another open challenge for titles.

Match 4: World Title Eliminator Tournament Semifinals: Roderick Strong vs. Darby Allin
Result: Roderick Strong beat Darby Allin

Powerhouse Hobbs promo.

Keith Lee interviewed. Sounds like he’ll be on Collision more now.

Bryan Danielson interviewed. He teases this next year maybe being the last of his career and asked to face New Japan’s Zack Sabre Jr. on 10/1 before Ricky Starks interrupts. Danielson tries to recruit Starks into BCC but Starks & Big Bill beat down Danielson and Moxley when he tried to make the save.

Added to Dynamite Wednesday: Adam Page vs. Brian Cage and AEW International Champion Jon Moxley vs. Big Bill for the title.

Next week: FTR vs. Iron Savages for the AEW Tag Team Championship.

Main Event: World Title Eliminator Tournament Semifinals: Samoa Joe vs. Penta El Zero M
Result: Samoa Joe beat Penta El Zero M by submission. As a result, Joe will face Roderick Strong on Wednesday with the winner facing MJF for the AEW World Championship on 9/20.

A slightly above average episode overall and my least favorite Collision so far, but not a bad show by any means. Think of it more as a reset to start the post-CM Punk era of the program, so give it a few more weeks to see what will happen. Danielson-Starks does look like it’ll be the hot program for now.
