BREAKING: Commentary said at the start of the first match that Jon Moxley is now off tonight. Not medically cleared to compete. Rey Fenix now defends the AEW International Championship against Orange Cassidy instead (Oh god…).
Samoa Joe promo.
Match 2: Chris Jericho vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
Result: Powerhouse Hobbs beat Chris Jericho. Could be called a glorified squash even though it went about 10 minutes.
Adam Cole/Roderick Strong video.
Match 3: AEW International Champion Rey Fenix vs. Orange Cassidy for the title
Result: Orange Cassidy beat AEW International Champion Rey Fenix to become THE NEW AEW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION! They teased Fenix being hurt during the match at the end.
Toni Storm promo. Played during split-screen commercial after the first 48 minutes were commercial-free after saying the first 30 minutes would be.
Match 4: Wardlow vs. a jobber…not really a jobber because it’s Matt Sydal but still…
Result: Wardlow beat Matt Sydal by ref stoppage. Squash.
Match 5: Adam Page vs. Jay White
Result: Jay White beat Adam Page. MJF came out right afterwards. Long promo during which Juice Robinson says next week there is a battle royal for the annual shot at the Dynamite Diamond Ring.
Toni Storm promo continued from earlier. Again right to split-screen commercial.
Match 6: AEW Women’s Champion Saraya vs. Hikaru Shida for the title. Ruby Soho is banned from ringside
Result: Hikaru Shida beat AEW Women’s Champion Ruby Soho to become THE NEW AEW WOMEN’S CHAMPION! Soho did get involved in diguise, which brought out Toni Storm to fight her off with a shoe.
Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita do Sammy Guevara’s cue cards gimmick during split-screen commercial.
Friday on Rampage: BCC vs. Gates Of Agony, Skye Blue vs. Emi Sakura, The Hardys & Brother Zay vs. Angelo Parker, Matt Menard & Daniel Garcia and Jay Lethal vs. Trent Beretta.
Saturday on Collision at 7 PM ET AGAIN: Christian Cage vs. Bryan Danielson for the AEW TNT Championship.
Next week: Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royal. Winner faces MJF for the Dynamite Diamond Ring the week after in Philadelphia.
MJF tries to call Adam Cole but the call gets dropped. Max Caster then volunteers The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn to be MJF’s partners for an 8-man tag against Buller Club. MJF refuses as Gunn & ANthony Bowens have issues with Caster.
Main Event: Luchasaurus (with Christian Cage) vs. Adam Copeland
Result: Adam Copeland beat Luchasaurus. Mainly being squashed until Christian interference backfired. BCC, Gates Of Agony & Adam Page all came out for a big post-match brawl all over the place.
Promised overrun went a total of 15 minutes, they advertised a reported 10 minutes.
The shoe started off great but once the International Championship match happened it went off a cliff for me and left me disgusted and planning to take a hiatus from Dynamite for a bit and only watching Collision. I hope AEW comes back to Northern California soon so I can go WWE on Tony Khan like they did on social media today. I’ve been a loyal AEW fan since Day 1 but my faith is wavering this past month.
End Show.
