GLEAT 7/1/23 Results

GLEAT ran their 2nd Anniversary event yesterday, which likely was their biggest event of the year with a mix of G PROWRESTLING and Lidet UWF matches.

Yesterday’s event was held at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand FOR FREE on YouTube.

The announced paid attendance was 1279.

Matches 1-7 were G PROWRESTLING matches, while Matches 8-10 were Lidet UWF bouts.

Match 1: Issei Onitsuka & Yusuke Kodama beat Shigehiro Irie & Junjae. Kodama pinned Junjae with La Magistral.

Match 2: Quiet Storm, Galeno Del Mar & HANAOKA beat Emperador Azteca, El Bendito & MAZADA. Galeno pinned MAZADA with Galeno Special.

Match 3: G INFINITY Champions Jun & Rei Saito (All-Japan) beat Kaz Hayashi & Minoru Tanaka to retain the titles. Rei Saito pinned Tanaka after a diving body press. V1 for the champs.

Match 4: Michiko Miyagi, Aoi, Risa Sera & Janai Kai beat Yukari Hosokawa, Sayaka Unagi, Itsuki Aoki & Rydeen Hagane. Miyagi pinned Hosokawa after a tombstone piledriver. After the match, Miyagi announced she will be changing her ring name among other things. That will be revealed on 8/4 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.

Match 5: In a Loser Unit Dissolution Match, Ryuichi Kawakami, Hayato Tamura, Check Shimatani & KAZMA SAKAMOTO beat Tetsuya Iczichi, Jun Tonsho & Keiichi Sato.Tamura pinned Izuchi after Hayato Orchestra. As a result, 60seconds must disband. And yes, apparently it was a handicap match with an unfair advantage for Bulk Orchestra.

Match 6: GLEAT 2nd Anniversary Match: El Lindaman, Kento Miyahara (All-Japan) & Chihiro Hashimoto (Sendai Girls) beat Yutani, Flamita & Kotaro Suzuki. Lindaman pinned Yutani with a tiger suplex hold.

Match 7: G-REX Champion T-Hawk beat Soma Watanabe to retain the title. V2 for T-Hawk. Next up: Hayato Tamura. That match likely will happen on 8/4.

Match 8: Lidet UWF Single Bout: Maya Fukuda beat Azusa Inaba by KO.

Match 9: Lidet UWF Double Bout: Yu Iizuka & Ayato Yoshida vs. Shinya Aoki & Hikaru Sato went to a 20 minute time limit draw.

Main Event: Fujita “Jr.” Hayato beat Lidet UWF Champion Takanori Ito by ref stoppage to win the title. Hayato becomes the second Lidet UWF Champion.

The next event is G PROWRESTLING Ver. 56 on 7/16 at Umeda Sky Building Stellar Hall in Osaka. There will likely be no live broadcast.

Also not mentioned in results but announced for 8/4: Kota Ibushi participation. Yes, THAT Kota Ibushi (who hasn’t been seen since he unceremoniously left New Japan following an injury suffered in the 2021 G1 CLIMAX Finals). He has been reportedly linked to All Elite Wrestling but that hasn’t happened and seems very unlikely.
