New Japan & Stardom held HISTORIC X-OVER 2, the second crossover event featuring both promotions under the same umbrella, made much easier now that New Japan is the official owner of Stardom. Some matches featured wrestlers from both promotions but actual intergender (male vs. female) wrestling was prohibited with one exception.
Today’s event was held at Osaka Prefectural Gym in Tokyo and can be watched on demand as a PPV on New Japan World and Stardom World. It’s $34.99 on New Japan World and about a dollar more on Stardom World. The PPV viewing window is until next Sunday, after that it may be available on Stardom World for monthly subscribers. Match 1: Saori Anou & Tam Nakano beat Tomoka Inaba & Syuri. Nakano pinned Inaba after Violet Screwdriver.
Match 2: Miyu Amasaki, AZM & Mei Seira beat Rina, Ruaka & Konami. AZM pinned Rina after a diving foot stomp.
Match 3: Francesco Akira, Callum Newman & Jeff Cobb beat Tiger Mask, Boltin Oleg & Toru Yano. Akira pinned TM 4 after Fireball.
Match 4: Saya Kamitani, Natsuko Tora, Drilla Moloney & Gabriel Kidd beat Saya Iida, Hanan, Ryusuke Taguchi & Hiroshi Tanahashi. Kidd pinned Taguchi aftera piledriver.
Match 5: In a No DQ Hardcore Match, KOPW 2024 Champion Great-O-Khan beat Suzu Suzuki to retain the title. Had Khan lost, he also would have lost his hair (braid & beard).
Match 5: Natsupoi & Taichi beat Thekla & Clark Connors. Natsupoi pinned Thekla after Fairy Real Gift.
Match 7: IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani beat Momo Watanabe to retain the title. V8 for Iwatani. Next up: If she gets what she wants, AZM on 1/4 at the Tokyo Dome. (UPDATE: It’s now official)
Main Event: Maika & Zack Sabre Jr. beat Starlight Kid & El Desperado. Maika pinned Kid after Michinoku Driver 2.
For New Japan, the next event is the World Tag League, their annual year-end Heavyweight tag team tournament, starting Tuesday at Ashikaga Municipal Gym in Tochigi. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET.
For Stardom, the next event is Wednesday at Aomori Budokan in Aomori. There will be no live broadcast.
