News: Fan Injured By Wrestler Weapon

Yikes…according to a new story on some US wrestling news sites, wrestling icon Tiger Jeet Singh injured a fan recently at an event in Tokyo with a sword. Here’s what we know from translations of Hochi Sports & Tokyo Sports reports: It happened on 10/17 at a Meguni Kudo 40th Anniversary Event at Yoyogi National Stadium Gym 2. During Singh’s entrance he was swinging a sword wildly and it cut a fan in his forehead. The fan was hospitalized and treated for what thankfully were said to be minor injuries. Singh’s response? Sorry, Not Sorry. He says the fan should have gotten out of the way and the ring announcer was warning fans over the speakers (like you often hear when wrestlers fight outside the ring or go for over-top-rope dives in setups with no guardrails between the ring and front-row seats. Same explanation from Singh’s son, Tiger Ali Singh, who also says it was accidental. More apologetic, however, was Kudo. She believed there were “shortcomings in the corner team setup” and her organization will do everything to address the situation.

I don’t know if there is video of what happened but Tokyo Sports posted pictures that, from what I saw, don’t show the exact moment it happened but both Singhs had swords that appeared to resemble sabers similar to what is used in fencing. Nothing like a samurai sword or close to that. That’s why if you see Gianni Valletta making his entrance in Dragon Gate, you better duck. That chain he swings could easily take your head off.
