Stardom ran their semi-regular weeknight Tokyo event today., the first of consecutive events.
Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on Stardom World. You can also watch the first 3 matches FOR FREE on YouTube.
The paid attendance was not announced.
There were last-minute changes to the card due to Koguma and Natsuko Tora being pulled off the event. Koguma-family circumstances. Tora-the always vague poor health (again, aka illness).
Match 1: HANAKO beat Matoi Hamabe.
Match 2: Rina & Azusa Inaba beat Saya Iida & Yuria Hime. Rina pinned Hime after Pink Devil.
Rina Yamashita, Itsuki Aoki & Maki Itoh beat Ami Sohrei, Lady C & Kiyoka Kokatsu and Hazuki, Fuwa-chan & Waka Tsukiyama in a 3-way when Itoh pinned Kokatsu.
Match 3: Syuri, Hina, Tomoka Inaba & Ranna Yagami beat Natsupoi, Saori Anou, Yuna Mizumori & Anne Kanaya. Yagami pinned Kanaya after Beat Strike. Unless it already happened elsewhere, this may have been Tomoka’s return from injury.
Match 4: Suzu Suzuki & Akira Kurogame beat Starlight Kid & Ema Maishima. Kurogame pinned Maishima.
Match 5: Konami, Saya Kamitani & Ruaka beat Hanan, Maika & Utami Hayashishita. Kamitani pinned Hanan after a Frankensteiner. Afterwards, Ruaka delivered a promo from the absent Tora.
Main Event: Kikyo Furudawa & Rian beat New Blood Tag Team Champions Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara to win the titles. Furusawa & Rian become the 6th New Blood Tag Team Champions. Rian pinned Sakura after Hanaguruma. Very happy for Rian in particular, she was the last and slowest of the 2023 debuting class to win a title but has finally done so, and despite struggling in the 5STAR GP this year she did pick up a big win along the way and clearly has been on the verge of a breakthrough. Even though I don’t like her & Furusawa aligning with Itoh to perhaps get there, it seems like that time has come. And despite tying for the fewest successful defenses yet with 2, Sakura & Kurara had the longest reign so far at 10 days short of a year. But part of why they maybe had fewer defenses than they could have (and also reigned longer) was Kurara injuries. This was her return match after a neck injury in the 5STAR GP.
The next event is 10/27. Live streaming on Stardom World will begin at 2:30 AM PT/5:30 AM ET.
