WITHDRAWAL (Pre-Tournament): Terunofuji (Y). The usual for him-back, knees, diabetes complications. Will not compete this tournament. That continues his post-promotion to Yokozuna pattern: In 20 tournaments including this one since, he has finished all 15 days in just 8 tournaments…and won the championship in each. In the other 12, he either withdrew early or didn’t compete at all. His stablemaster Isegahama says he will be back in January.
Of note: Watch the injury report for Takarafuji tomorrow as he may have suffered a left elbow injury. Tamawashi pulled his arm back a lot during the match and at best maybe hyperextended it, at worst could be enough to force the veteran out.

Oshoumi (J14) beat Hatsuyama (Ms1)
Nabatame (J14) beat Kotoeiho (J13)
Tochitaikai (J12) beat Wakaikari (J13)

Tsurugisho (J7) beat Shiden (J6)
Tohakuryu (J6) beat Tomokaze (J5)
Shimanoumi (J4) beat Shimazuumi (J5)
Tamashoho (J4) beat Kayo (J3)
Hakuoho (J2) beat Shirokuma (J3)
Kinbozan (J1) beat Kagayaki (J2)

Lower tier notes:
As expected, Asanoyama also is a WITHDRAWAL from Makushita 1. May be back in January but March now sounds more realistic, which could demote him to the Sandanme again. As for Enho in the Sandanme this time, no match today which means his first match will be tomorrow. He is at Sd56 this tournament and faces Suio, at Sd57.
