AEW Dynamite 12/13/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Arlington, TX:

Samoa Joe comes out right away to start. No opening video, pyros, etc. He calls out Adam Page, who comes out. Tensions interrupted by Roderick Strong who comes out and claims MJF is the devil. Page cuts him off with a forearm shot just before a referee comes out. Joe leaves and Strong ambushes Page from behind to lead to…

Result: Adam Page beat Roderick Strong

Match 2: Continental Classic Blue Block: Brrody King vs. Andrade El Idolo
Result: Andrade El Idolo beat Brody Kiong
Andrade is 3-0, 9 points. King is 2-1, 6 points. Because of his win in their earlier match, Andrade has the presumptive tiebreaker over Bryan Danielson, who is also at 6 points.

Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega promo. They call out and get Ricky Starks & Big Bill. This all leads to Jericho & Omega cashing in their guaranteed AEW Tag Team Championship shot for Worlds End on 12/30.

Toni Storm joins commentary for the next match.

Match 3: Ruby Soho vs. Riho
Result: Riho beat Ruby Soho

Wardlow promo.

Match 4: Continental Classic Gold Block: Rush vs. Jay Lethal. Rush must win to stay in contention

Main Event: Continental Classic Gold Block: Swerve Strickland vs. Jon Moxley
Result: Jon Moxley beat Swerve Strickland
Moxley is 4-0, 12 points. Strickland is 3-1, 9 points. Moxley will win the block unless he loses to Jay White in his last match and a lot of other crazy stuff happens.

Adam Page beatdown outside by the masked attackers. The Devil appears out of a car before Page is slammed onto the hood of the car. They blew past their allowed 5 minute overrun here and abruptly cut away.

Not a great show again despite Tony Khan’s social media promises, but another good show. The Von Erichs appeared but their spot was wasted by Orange Cassidy & Danhausen interrupting even though it sets up the Von Erichs to appear on Rampage Friday. All the tournament matches were good as usual but a slight step down from prior matches. The first and last matches are must-see.

Friday on Rampage: TBA.

Saturday on Collision: Blue Block matches-Andrade vs. Claudio Castagnoli, Eddie Kingston vs. Daniel Garcia and King vs. Bryan Danielson.

AEW Dynamite 12/6/23 Results

Result: Jon Moxley beat Rush by ref stoppage (technical submission).
Moxley is 3-0, 9 points. Rush is 1-2, 3 points. This means some losers tonight will potentially be eliminated from Finals contention.

The Kingdom interviewed.

MJF/Adam Page go at it verbally until Samoa Joe breaks it up. MJF thinks Page is The Devil.

Match 2: Continental Classic Gold Block: Mark Briscoe vs. Swerve Strickland
Result: Swerve Strickland beat Mark Briscoe
Strickland is 3-0, 9 points. Briscoe is 0-3, 0 points and can’t advance to the Finals.

Samoa Joe comes out for his match but the lights go out and The Devil’s Masked Men surround the ring. Lights go out again and when they come back on, they’re gone. We then see Joe alone in the ring and The Devil appears on the screen above the entrance area, cutting to MJF having been laid out, apparently by a broken beer bottle.

Jon Moxley promo. Swerve Strickland interrupts. Somebody’s 0 Has Got To Go and it’ll be next week at Winter Is Coming.

Match 3: AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm vs. Skye Blue for the title

Next week: Srickland-Moxley, White-Briscoe and Rush-Lethal in the Classic. Also Samoa Joe Speaks and The Von Erichs return to Dallas, plus Adam Page vs. Roderick Strong.

Main Event: AEW TNT Champion Christian Cage vs. Adam Copeland for the title
Result: AEW TNT Champion Christian Cage beat Adam Copeland to retain the title. Screwjob of course, in this case when Nick Wayne’s mom came out and turned on Copeland.

As a whole the show was average to just above average again. Not a bad show but outside of the Continental Classic, which continues to be solid if unspectacular, there’s nothing to care about. The main event finish was a big Go F*ck Yourself to all the non-Christian fans, and the fans in general. Not Best For Business and the live business is struggling for AEW right now regardless of how Tony Khan spins it.

Next week is the annual Winter Is Coming special.

Injury Report: Good & Bad AEW Updates (Updated)

From the socials and news sites comes a mixed bag of injury new from AEW:
First the good-Serena Deeb, who has been out of action since October 2022, announced on Instagram today she has finally been cleared to return effective today. She also explained her absence. Seizures. See her video below:

So glad to see her back, she was being a very effective heel in AEW.

On the bad side, Bandido, who has been out about 6 months so far, will not be back anytime soon. Wrist. Had surgery before but is not recovering as well as hoped for and will need more surgery. He seemed set to return anytime now, but no longer.

UPDATE: Bandido posted an update on the socials, he was given 3 options for treatment and 2 involve surgery. The third appears to involve PRP injections. Another news site rumor is that this setback means he’ll probably be out at least another 6 months.

In other news, Sammy Guevara reportedly has been cleared to return already (concussion) but remained out due to his wife Tay Melo about to give birth to their first child, which happened earlier this week. Guevara could now be back anytime.

Toni Storm interviewed. She will be defending the AEW Women’s Championship next week.

MJF comes out. He puts over Samoa Joe before throwing down for their PPV match then the lights go out and he gets ambushed by the masked men, one wearing a shirt with the devil logo on the back. That one has a baseball bat but Samoa Joe makes the save. This seems to set up a tag team match for next week, so we might find out who it (The Devil) is.

After commercial, commentary spins what happened as it being an internal job and that IT security is on the case. The match for next week is official.

Match 3: Wardlow vs. AR Fox
Reslut: Wardlow beat AR Fox. Squash.

Match 4: The Hardys & Brother Zay vs. Top Flight & Action Andretti
Match 4: Top Flight & Action Andretti beat The Hardys & Brother Zay. Dante Martin pinned Zay.

Result: AEW TBS Champion Julia Hart beat Emi Sakura to retain the title.

Mariah May interviewed backstage before stepping into Tony Khan’s area.

Christian Cage comes out. He called out Adam Copeland and got him. Long drawn-out promo leads to Cage suggesting they team once more for Copeland’s mom then goes for the cheap shot but clearly gets caught.

Main Event: Continental Classic: Jay White vs. Swerve Strickland
Result: Swerve Strickland beat Jay White
Strickland is 2-0, 6 points. White is 1-1, 3 points

A solid top-to-bottom episode overall, the non-wrestling stuff ran too long (Christian-Copeland and Sting-Flair interview) but all the matches were good. The tournament is making a slightly positive difference so far.

Friday on Rampage: TBA. They didn’t announce anything during the show or I missed it.

AEW News: It’s A Girl!

Sammy Guevara may be, in my book, a Faux Spanish GAWD in the ring, but outside the ring he is now a proud father. Guevara posted on the socials, shared by AEW’s official account and others, wife Tay Melo gave birth to their first child yesterday-a girl named Luna Melo Guevara.

I join AEW and many others in sending congratulations and best wishes to the new happy family.
