AEW Dynamite 6/26/24 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Buffalo, NY (this is the final Dynamite recap I am doing for the time being):
MJF promo. Daniel Garcia interrupted immediately. Eventually Will Ospreay barged in too.

Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi (New Japan) & Titan (CMLL) beat Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta by DQ. Moxley DQ’d. Chair use. Post-match brawl brought out Tetsuya Naito, who brawled with Moxley to the back.

Owen Hart Cup Men’s Quarterfinals: Jay White beat Rey Fenix. As a result, White advances to the Semifinals and will face the Jeff Jarrett-Wild Card winner.

The Young Bucks announced the Wild Card member will be someone from The Elite. (Early thinking is this means Adam Page)

The Acclaimed segment. The Elite interrupted. This led to The Elite vs. The Acclaimed & Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door.

Mariah May, Mina Shirakwaw (Stardom) & Toni Storm beat Saraya, Harley Cameron & Anna Jay. Shirakawa pinned Cameron after Glamorous Driver Mina. Shirakawa tried to hit Storm with a champagne bottle post-match but Storm ducked and May got hit instead.

Mercedes Mone promo. She talked like she would be on commentary for a Stephanie Vaquer-Lady Frost match Saturday on Collision. (Note: As of this posting that episode of Collision is being taped)

Chris Jericho promo. He said he recruited Minoru Suzuki to be a trios partner for Forbidden Door (Bryan Keith is out) but in a video package Suzuki said no. Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata & Hook them came out and a brief brawl ensued.

Zack Sabre Jr. (New Japan) beat Kyle O’Reilly.

Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay beat Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona. Ospreay pinned Liona after Hidden Blade. Afterwards, Strickland laid out Ospreay.

No Rampage taping this week. This Friday’s episode was taped last week in Allentown, PA.

This week’s Collision will be TAPED. They are taping that right now.

AEW Dynamite 6/19/24 Results

Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy & Dante Martin beat Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, Roderick Strong & Zack Sabre Jr. Cassidy pinned Strong after Orange Punch.

The Acclaimed beat AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks in a NON-TITLE match. But since this was that Eliminator gimmick, and it’s perhaps the first time the champs were beaten in one, as a result The Acclaimed get a future AEW Tag Team Title shot.

Toni Storm-Mina Shirakawa contract signing for Forbidden Door. Afterwards, Saraya, Harley Cameron & Anna Jay came out for a brawl.

Owen Hart Cup Women’s Quarterfinals: Kris Statlander beat Nyla Rose. As a result, Statlander advances to the Semifinals and will likely face the Willow Nightingale-Serena Deeb winner.

They may also tape next week’s Rampage tomorrow. No word on why Collision isn’t live this week as there are no sports conflicts (NBA is done, NHL Finals Fame 6 is Friday, no soccer on TNT). The next live Collision probably will be July 6.

Next week: Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay vs. Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun, Toni Storm/Mariah May/Mina Shirakawa vs. Saraya/Harley Cameron/Anna Jay and Jay White vs. Rey Fenix in an Owen Hart Cup Quarterfinals match. Next week’s Collision is also TAPED (will be taped after Dynamite), probably because the following weekend is Forbidden Door.

New Japan video package. Looks like Shingo Takagi is in the Owen Hart Cup this year (DA DA DAAAAA!).

Samoa Joe & Hook beat Tony Nese &Ari Daivari. Double submission.

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone beat Zeuxis (CMLL) to retain the title. Had Zeuxis won, the Mone-Stephanie Vaquer match at Forbidden Door would only have been for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship.

TV Time with Chris Jericho. Private Party is the guest. They wanted to be trained by Jericho until they swerved, sending Big Bill & Bryan Keith packing before beating down Jericho and bailing before Bill & Keith could make the save.

AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland beat Killswitch in a NON-TITLE match.

Chris Jericho TV Time (new segment). There’s a tree in the ring for “The Learning Tree” Jericho. Bryan Keith appears to align with Jericho & Big Bill before Hook interrupts the segment, along with Samoa Joe.

IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley beat Rocky Romero in a NON-TITLE match. Eliminator format.

Don Callis tried to get Orange Cassidy to join the Family but he refused. Trent Beretta did though and beat down Cassidy. Best Friends are no more.

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone beat Skye Blue to retain the title.

Due to injury sustained Sunday at Double Or Nothing, Adam Copeland is stripped of the AEW TNT Champiosnhip. Broken leg. The Elite pan to give it to Jack Perry but are interrupted by Christopher Daniels, who has been made an interim EVP by Tony Khan. Ladder match for the title at Forbidden Door with qualifying matches over the next few weeks.

A Casino Gauntlet Match for an AEW World Championship match at Forbidden Door was won by Will Ospreay. As a result, Ospreay will face Strickland for the title then. Roughly 9-10 participants total.

I didn’t watch the live show and I am taking an indefinite hiatus from doing so due to growing disliking of the product this past year.

Friday on Rampage at regular time: Konosuke Takeshita vs. Penta El Zero M in a TNT Title Qualifier, Toni Storm vs. Viva Van, Satnam Singh vs. TBA and Kyle O’Reilly vs. TBA. Spoilers to come tomorrow.

Saturday on Collision: AEW International Champion Will Ospreay vs. Kyle O’Reilly for the title.

AEW Dynamite & Rampage 5/1/24 LIVE Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite AND LIVE Rampage from Winnipeg, Canada:

Dynamite:
Tony Khan is in Jacksonville selling what happened last week. His feed gets cut out by The Young Bucks, who say because of this they’re running the show now.

Swerve Strickland comes out first. He calls out who will be his next challenger for the AEW World Championship at Double Or Nothing, but The Bucks interrupt to introduce said challenger-Christian Cage. He & the Patriarchy beat down Strickland & Prince Nana, culminating with Killswitch legit ripping some of Strickland’s hair off his head.

Match 1: AEW TNT Champion Adam Copeland vs. one of House Of Black for the title. Who it is was not revealed in advance. It was revealed to be Buddy Matthews.
Result: AEW TNT Champion Adam Copeland beat Buddy Matthews to retain the title. Matthews may have been legit injured when he took a stiff elbow on a diving crossbody from Copeland to his midsection.

Match 2; Samoa Joe vs. Isaiah Kassidy
Result: Samoa Joe beat Isaiah Kassidy. Squash.

Skye Blue promo.

Orange Cassidy interviewed. He says Chuck Taylor will never wrestle again after a parking lot fight with Trent Beretta last weekend. Trent interrupts. Cassidy charges him but security keeps them apart. During this, Don Callis makes a move on Cassidy.

Match 3: FTW Champion Chris Jericho vs. Katsuyori Shibata for the title
Result: FTW Champion Chris Jericho beat Katsuyori Shibata to retain the title.

WIllow NIghtingale accepts Blue’s challenge for an AEW TBS Championship match. Added to Rampage. The Bucks add a stip-Kris Statlander & Stokely Hathaway are banned from ringside and if either interfere, Nightingale is stripped of the title.

Match 4: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brian Cage
Result: Claudio Castagnoli beat Brian Cage by submission

Next week: Copeland vs. Brody King for the TNT Championship and Cassidy vs. Beretta.

Added to Rampage tonight: Konosuke Takeshita vs. London Lightning.

Rocky Romero interviewed. He’s done with Best Friends and is going after titles now. He challenges Kyle O’Reilly for Rampage tonight which likely finalizes the Rampage lineup.

Match 5: Mariah May vs. Serena Deeb
Result: Serema Deeb beat Mariah May by ref stoppage (towel). Towel thrown in by Toni Storm.

Justin Roberts does THE INTRO for Kenny Omega. You know what that means…NORTH CA-RO-LI-NA!!! This continues into Rampage.

Rampage:
Omega promo continues past the normal Dynamite overrun. At about that time Kazuchika Okada comes out. It’s a setup for a Jack Perry ambush. Omega tries to fight it off but when he goes for a V-Trigger Okada breaks it up and Perry hits Omega with a chair. The Bucks come out for a EVP Trigger. The Elite pose with the wounded Omega but FTR quickly comes out to make the save.
I figured this was how they would write Omega off TV long-term to have surgery for diverticulitis. The promo was absolutely hot and legit scary as he talked about the medical ramifications of his condition and what it means for his health. Absolute must-see.

Back to commentary then back to backstage as The Elite attack FTR again and dump Omega off the stretcher by the ambulance.

Matt Menard replaces Taz on commentary for Rampage.

Match 1: Jay White vs. Dante Martin
Result: Jay White beat Dante Martin

Deonna Purrazzo interviewed.

Swerve Strickland promo. More with Christian Cage promised for Dynamite next week but he won’t be alone.

Match 2: Rocky Romero vs. Kyle O’Reilly
Result: Kyle O’Reilly beat Rocky Romero

Main Event: AEW TBS Champion Willow Nightingale vs. Skye Blue in a Manitoba Massacre for the title. Anything Goes. Stokely Hathaway & Kris Statlander banned from ringside, if either interfere Nightingale is stripped of the title
Result: AEW TBS Champion WIllow NIghtingale beat Kris Statlander to retain the title.

Konosuke Takeshita vs. London Lighting did not happen, at least not on TV. I’m guessing time constraints because the Omega promo segment ran extremely long.

Dynamite was an enjoyable episode for me this week, it was nice to not have Tony Khan anywhere near it except at the beginning, and he stayed off the socials too. The Strickland-Cage and Omega promos really elevated the show. Matches were okay, not great but not bad either. Rampage suffered from Dynamite running way over despite a nearly 10-minute overrun, the main event was rushed and I don’t like the women having to resort to hardcore garbage matches to get time & reactions from the crowd, but the effort was absolutely there as always. Rampage can be skipped. The Omega promo segment is must-see.

No Collision this week. Rampage follows Collision next week and both will be on TBS, not TNT.

Also next week on Dynamite: Harley Cameron vs. Mariah May and Serena Deeb promo.

AEW Dynamite 4/24/24 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s LIVE NATIONWIDE AEW Dynamite from Daily’s Place (Jacksonville, FL):

As the show begins, The Young Bucks & Jack Perry are shown arriving earlier today. Security tries to keep Perry out but they get blown off.

Orange Cassidy comes out but gets a beatdown by Trent Beretta quickly. Chuck Taylor then comes out. Trent tells Taylor to make a decision and Taylor lays out Trent before demanding a parking lot fight because Taylor isn’t going to be medically cleared to compete. Trent leaves.

Jon Moxley promo.

Match 1; AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland vs. Kyle Fletcher in a NON-TITLE match. Usual “eliminator” gimmick meaning a title rematch for Fletcher if he wins
Result: Swerve Strickland beat Kyle Fletcher. Feed went out during split-screen commercial.

Next week: Kenny Omega returns. Hometown appearance (Winnipeg, Canada).

Thunder Rosa interviewd. Deonna Purrazzo interrupts and things quickly get heated.

Match 2: Mina Shirakawa (Stardom) vs. Anna Jay
Result: Mina Shirakawa beat Anna Jay. More split-screen issues. Anna broke up the post-match celebration and choked out Mariah May until Toni Storm made the save. Then Serena Deeb came out and sat next to the AEW Women’s Championship belt Storm left on the stairs of the entrance and called her shot to the camera.

Willow Nightingale Championship Celebration Mercedes Mone interrupts and tensions quickly boil over ahead of their AEW TBS Championship match at Double Or Nothing. Mone bitch-slaps Nightingale at the end. Very hot starting build.

Match 3: Casino Gauntlet Match. Staggered entry like a battle royal but first pinfall/submission wins and gets an AEW International Championship shot at Double Or Nothing.
Order of entry: Jay White, Dante Martin, Penta El Zero M, Kyle O’Reilly, Will Ospreay, Lance Archer, Komander, Jay Lethal
Result: Will Ospreay won by pinning Komander. As a result, Ospreay will face AEW International Champion Roderick Strong for the title at Double Or Nothing

Chris Jericho promo. He puts himself over as new FTW Champion and lays the roots for his next faction as The Learning Tree. Big Bill comes out wanting to be his first recruit.

Main Event: IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley vs. Powerhouse Hobbs for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley beat Powerhouse Hobbs by ref stoppage (technical submission) to retain the title. V1 for Moxley.

Next week: FTW Champion Chris Jericho vs. Katsuyori Shibata for the title.

Jack Perry & Tony Khan face-to-face meeting in the ring follows the main event. About 7 minutes TV time left. They shook hands & hugged it out, which was the dead giveaway as Perry smiled at the camera. He then laid out Khan with a microphone punch to the midsection then The Elite came out. The Young Bucks hit a Meltzer Driver on Khan and left him laid out in the ring before leaving. Once they were gone the roster began spilling into the ring as we cut away. Commentary either was cut off or was dead silent after the driver.

There apparently were a lot of technical issues tonight. A lot was said about major audio issues but I had no such problems, just with no picture-in-picture during commercials. I could see the commercials fine but no matches. The lineup wasn’t much on paper but thankfully it was not as bad as it looked. Turned out to be an average to just-above-average show despite no real Dynasty fallout, but some of the Double Or Nothing build got off to a hot start, in particular with Mone-Nightingale. I loved the ending of course but the aforementioned women’s segment is must-see.

Saturday on Collision LIVE NATIONWIDE after NBA Playoffs coverage on TNT (or 8:30 PM ET/5:30 PM PT, whichever is later): Bullet Club vs. Top Flight & Action Andretti for the Trios Championships, Toni Storm vs. Anna Jay.
Saturday On Rampage after Collision:: Thunder Rosa vs. Deonna Purrazzo and Trent Beretta vs. Chuck Taylor in a Parking Lot Fight

Orange Cassidy beat Shane Taylor.

Will Ospreay beat Claudio Castagnoli.

Strickland/Joe promo and one last going at it before Sunday.

After last week’s awful dumpster fire of a show, I skipped tonight’s show. Pending changes at my job will mean in the next couple months I will no longer be able to watch the live broadcast on Wednesdays. That and Tony Khan needs to be able to stay off socials for just one Wednesday before, during and just after the show.

No Rampage this Friday. It’s moved to Saturday because of NBA Playoffs and will probably be LIVE either before or after Collision.

Saturday: Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita in a Bunkhouse Brawl, The Elite vs. FTR & Pac and The Acclaimed vs. Gunn Club.

AEW Dynamite 4/10/24 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Charleston, WV:

Match 1: AEW World Champion Samoa Joe vs. Dustin Rhodes in a NON-TITLE match
Result: Never happened. Swerve Strickland ambushed Joe as he came out first. No word on if match will still happen tonight.

Match 2: AEW TNT Champion Adam Copeland vs. Penta El Zero M for the title
Result: AEW TNT Champion Adam Copeland beat Penta El Zero M to retain the title.

The Young Bucks talk All In London and show the backstage footage. Quick clip and a massive letdown. Mostly shots at FTR. Afterwards, FTR immediately storm out to the ring to respond. Ultimately this came off as little more than an EPIC FAIL of a Dynasty promo.

Will Ospreay promo.

Julia Hart promo. Excellent video.

Match 3: Hook, Chris Jericho & Katsuyori Shibata vs. Shane Taylor Promotions
Result: Shane Taylor Promotions beat Hook, Chris Jericho & Katsuyori Shibata. Lee Moriarty pinned Shibata after Fang. Shane Taylor interference set it up while Jericho & Hook argued outside the ring.

Joe-Rhodes is still on for tonight per onscreen graphics before commercial in the prior match.

Match 4: Kazuchika Okada vs. TBA. TBA is Cristiano Argento
Result: Kazuchika Okada beat Cristiano Argento. Squash. Afterwards, Okada accepted Pac’s challenge for the AEW Continental Championship at Dynasty. Pac came out but The Bucks followed for a beatdown until FTR made the save, but Okada came back with a chair to punctuate the heel beatdown.

Match 5: Mariah May vs. Anna Jay
Result: Mariah May beat Anna Jay. Anna choked out Mariah with Queenslayer afterwards until Mina Shirakawa from Stardom ran out to make the save, then celebrate with Champagne and a little HLA with May.

Mercedes Mone interview. But when asked who she would rather face for the AEW TBS Championship between Julia Hart & Willow Nightingale, the lights go out and we hear the beatdown on Mone.

Main Event: AEW World Champion Samoa Joe vs. Dustin Rhodes in a NON-TITLE match. Take 2
Result: Samoa Joe beat Dustin Rhodes

I learned about the death of former All-Japan Triple Crown Champion and Yokozuna in sumo Akebono in the second hour and that further depleted the wind from my already-depleted sails, but this show was a bad dumpster fire. Even some Japanese hotties HLA couldn’t save it. As WWE now seems poised to begin a shift away from sports entertainment AEW is poised to take the mantle, which is a big mistake waiting to happen. If you missed the live show, skip the replay.

Friday on Rampage: Angelo Parker vs. Zak Knight, Orange Cassidy vs. Alex Reynolds and AEW TBS Champion Julia Hart vs. Leyla Hirsch for the title.

Saturday on Collision: Toni Storm vs. AZM (Stardom) and Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Powerhouse Hobbs & Kyle Fletcher.
On BOTB 10: FTW Champion Hook vs. Shane Taylor for the title.

AEW Dynamite 4/3/24 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Worcester, MA:

Adam Copeland comes out to open the show. Rambles for a while before bringing out Will Ospreay for the opening match.

Match 1: Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Will Ospreay
Result: Will Ospreay beat Powerhouse Hobbs

Match 2: Bryan Danielson vs. Lance Archer
Result: Bryan Danielson beat Lance Archer

Chris Jericho calls out Hook. Hook says he got them a match for Saturday on Collision. A subsequent promo reveals it’ll be against Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty.

Match 3: Jay White vs. Billy Gunn
Result: Billy Gunn beat Jay White by DQ. Low blow.

Willow Nightingale interviewed. Stokely Hathaway adds on but gets cut off by Mercedes Mone, who says she’s challenging whoever is AEW TBS Champion after Dynasty for the title at Double Or Nothing.

Match 4: AEW Tag Team Championship Tournament Semifinals: The Young Bucks vs. Best Friends
Result: The Young Bucks beat Best Friends. Nick Jackson pinned Trent Beretta. As a result, The Bucks will face either FTR or Top Flight for the titles at Dynasty. FTR-Top Flight is Saturday. Afterwards, Best Friends went for the group hug with Chuck Taylor but Beretta instead laid out Orange Cassidy with a running knee strike.

Match 5: Mariah May vs. Thunder Rosa
Result: Thunder Rosa beat Mariah May. As a result, Rosa will face AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm for the title at Dynasty on 4/21.

Next week: AEW TNT Champion Adam Copeland vs. Penta El Zero M for the title.

Saturday on a TAPED Collision at 11:30 PM ET/8:30 PM PT or after NCAA Basketball (whichever is later): Penta vs. Komander.

Samoa Joe-Swerve Strickland Dynasty contract signing is the main event segment. Devolved into the usual violence with Joe beating down Strickland into nothingness but Strickland came back to taunt Joe before signing the contract with his own blood, then Joe put Strickland through a table after a low blow to end it.

I didn’t care much for tonight’s lineup and the card on paper was nowhere near huge. The first 2 matches were good though.
