AEW Dynamite 11/22/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s ARW Dynamite in Chicago:

Updates will begin at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET.

Continental Classic starts tonight. Rules: 20 minute time limit, 3 points for win, 1 for draw, 1 point lost for DQs, nobody allowed at ringside.

Match 1: Continental Classic Tournament Gold Block: Swerve Strickland vs. Jay Lethal
Result: Swerve Strickland beat Jay Lethal
Strickland is 1-0, 3 points. Lethal is 0-1, 0 points.

Schedule Update: This week’s Rampage airs LIVE SATURDAY AT 7 PM ET (TAPED at 7 PM PT).

MJF & Adam Cole come out. Promo interrupted by Samoa Joe after The Devil appears on the big screen. MJF accepts Joe’s offer, and that means Joe will face MJF for the AEW World Championship on 12/30 at the Worlds End PPV in Long Island, NY (MJF’s hometown).

Match 2: Angelo Parker, Matt Menard & Jake Hager vs. Hook, Katsuyori Shibata & Orange Cassidy
Before the match, Cassidy brings out Danhausen, back after being out most of the year due to injury.
Result: Hook, Katsuyori Shibata & Orange Cassidy beat Angelo Parker, Matt Menard & Jake Hager. Hook beat Parker with Redrum.

Adam Cole interviewed. Roderick Strong shows up again and Cole tells him off, saying they’re not friends anymore.

Christian Cage rechristens Luchasaurus as Kill Switch and Nick Wayne as The Prodigy. Wayne’s mom comes out and gets Kill Switch pushed into her, knocking her out. Adam Copeland saves her from chair shots.

Match 3: Continental Classic: Rush vs. Jay White
Result: Jay White beat Rush
White is 1-0, 3 points. Rush is 0-1, 0 points

Toni Storm Championship Acceptance Speech. Thankfully this is very short and unceremoniously cur off by Skye Blue heading to the ring for the next match. (They are starting to run up against time now, less than 25 minutes TV time left and they still have 2 matches)

Match 4: Skye Blue vs. Anna Jay & Ruby Soho in a 3-way
Result: Skye Blue beat Anna Jay & Ruby Soho in a 3-way by pinning Jay.

Wardlow interviewed backstage. AR Fox interrupts for some reason and gets laid out.

Main Event: Continental Classic: Mark Briscoe vs. Jon Moxley
Result: Jon Moxley beat Mark Briscoe
5 minute overrun on TV. Moxley is 1-0, 3 points. Briscoe is 0-1, 0 points.

Saturday on Collision: Blue Block-STRONG Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston vs. Brody King for the title and Daniel Garcia vs. Claudio Castagnoli. Collision will air at regular time after the LIVE Rampage at 7 PM ET.

This show started off fine then went completely off a cliff. Not really worth watching except the first match, maybe the main event, and the MJF/Cole/Joe segment.

AEW Full Gear 2023 Results (11/18/2023)

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Full Gear PPV in Los Angeles, CA:

Pre-show:
ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston beat Jay Lethal to retain the title.
Claudio Castagnoli beat Buddy Matthews by submission.
ROH Tag Team Champions MJF & Samoa Joe beat Gunn Club to retain the titles. Adam Cole returned during the match.

PPV:
Darby Allin, Adam Copeland & Sting beat Christian Cage, Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne.

MJF is not medically cleared for the main event. Adam Cole will defend the AEW World Championship for him.

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy beat Jon Moxley to retain the title. (To my dismay this probably means he’s never losing it)

Toni Storm beat AEW Women’s World Cahampion Hikaru Shida to become THE NEW AEW WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPION! Cheated of course.

In a Ladder Match, AEW Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill beat FTR, LFI and Malakai Black & Brody King to retain the titles.

Julia Hart beat AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander & Skye Blue in a 3-way by pinning Blue to become THE NEW AEW TBS CHAMPION! The House (Pretty Much) Always Wins.

Tony Khan promised a huge free agent signing would be announced and that person would sign their AEW contract tonight. It was revealed to be Will Ospreay. But he won’t be in AEW for a while as his New Japan contract is not up until February. Then he’ll be coming over. Well, at least it wasn’t Iceberg (Bill Goldberg) but some will be disappointed with it not being Mercedes Mone. I was thinking maybe it could be Mickie James.

The Continental Classic Tournament begins Wednesday and they are making ANOTHER new title that will go to the winner-the AEW Continental Champion. AND whoever wins will hold an AEW Triple Crown because Eddie Kingston will be defending both the ROH World Championship and the New Japan STRONG Openweight Championship in every match he’s in. I didn’t care for the tournament before and now I care even less. And AEW doesn’t need more titles unless Tony Khan is trying to sweeten WBD into a new and better TV deal. There are 4 entrants so far after this announcement: Bryan Danielson, Kingston, Andrade El Idolo, Mark Briscoe. (Triple Crown suggests the eventual winner will probably be Kingston). Tournament ends on 12/30 at the Worlds’ End PPV.

In a Texas Death Match (no pinfalls, submissions, DQs, countouts, only win by 10 count down), Swerve Strickland beat Adam Page.

Kenny Omega & Chris Jericho beat The Young Bucks. As a result, The Bucks lose their guaranteed anytime, anywhere AEW Tag Team Championship shot to The Winnipeg Jets.

MJF showed up in an ambulance as Adan Cole was coming out for the main event. Which led to…
AEW World Champion MJF beat Jay White to retain the title.

End Show.

The post-event media scrum will begin shortly (just after midnight ET/9 PM PT) and can be watched LIVE FOR FREE on YouTube.

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Ontario, CA:

Match 1: Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta vs. Orange Cassidy & Hook
Result: Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta beat Orange Cassidy & Hook. Yuta pinned Hook with a seatbelt.

Adam Page-Swerve Strickland staredown. If either got violent with the other, both are banned the rest of the year and their PPV match Saturday is off. That didn’t happen because Page cut a straight fire promo and also found a loophole-nothing about Prince Nana in there, so Page got a free beatdown on Nana until security broke it up.

Match 2: Skye Blue vs. Red Velvet. The winner gets added to a 3-way Saturday for the AEW TBS Championship against Kris Statlander & Julia Hart
Result: Skye Blue beat Red Velvet. As a result, Blue will face AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander & Julia Hart in a 3-way for the title at Full Gear.

Miro promo.

Result: Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Kota Ibushi & Paul Wight beat Brian Cage, Kyle Fletcher, Powerhouse Hobbs & Konosuke Takeshita. Omega pinned Cage after One Winged Angel.

MJF is main event segment, which is next.

Friday on a LIVE Collision: Dax Hardwood (actually said that on broadcast) vs. Rush, Saraya & Ruby Soho vs. HIkaru Shida & Kris Statlander, Miro vs. Daniel Garcia. Then on a LIVE Rampage: MJF and Jay White interviews and Toni Storm vs. Emi Sakura. More to come on the socials.

MJF promo. Jay White comes out at the end and sets up the Bullet Club beatdown to end the show. Samoa Joe is watching on the monitor backstage as we cut away.

This show didn’t do much for me especially as a PPV go-home, but it wasn’t a bad show. Everything was average or better, the tag match and women’s match are worth watching (the tag match was really good). I didn’t care much for the street fight. Viewer discretion on this one but there’s nothing you need to or should skip outside of a couple quick squashes.

LIVE results for Collision Friday at 8 PM ET and Rampage at 10 PM ET Friday are scheduled. A PPV preview special follows at 11 PM ET, all on TNT. All will be TAPED on the west coast.

UPDATE: After the show, AEW announced on the socials that they’ve officially signed Kota Ibushi.

Match 3: The Kingdom vs. 2 jobbers
Result: The Kingdom beat 2 jobbers. Squash. Went only about 55 seconds.

Main Event: FTR vs. El Hijo De Vikingo & Komander
Result: FTR beat El Hijo De Vikingo & Komander. Cash Wheeler pinned Komander after Big Rig. House Of Black promo followed the match to wrap it up. During the match, Vikingo hit his head at an awkward-looking angle on the announce table after a suicide dive and looked a tad unsteady in a couple spots.

End Show.

AEW News: Women’s Wrestler Gone?

According to AEW’s website and changes on her social media profiles, The Bunny may be gone from the promotion. She is no longer on AEW’s roster page and has removed such references from her social media bios.

Signing in 2019 after wrestling in Impact Wrestling as Allie (and also the indies), The Bunny appeared on only 3 matches this year, missing 6 months due to injury after losing a title match to then-AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter. No word on her future plans, although she is married to The Top Ratings Draw in AEW aka The Blade.

AEW Dynamite 11/8/23 Results

Result: Darby Allin & Sting beat The Outrunners. Squash.

Toni Storm & Hikaru Shida interview with Tony Schiavone. Pre-recorded and in black & white per Strom’s demand. Contract signed for Full Gear.

Match 3: Swerve Strickland vs. Penta El Zero M. During entrances commentary announced Adam Page is banned from ringside
Result: Swerve Strickland beat Penta El Zero M. Afterwards, Adam Page came out and attacked Strickland with a chair, also using it on security as they intervened before sending Strickland off the stage and through a table with Deadeye.

Don Callis-Kenny Omega promo. They incorporated footage from the video game “Yakuza: Like A Dragon”, which elevated the typically high promo video quality even further.

Renee Paquette interviews Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega but The Young Bucks interrupt quickly. They eventually talk into a tag match at Full Gear-if Jericho & Omega win, The Bucks lose their guaranteed future AEW Tag Team Championship opportunity. If The Bucks win, Jericho & Omega must split up. Renee REALLY enjoyed this.

Match 4: ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe vs. Keith Lee for the title
Result: ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe beat Keith Lee by ref stoppage (technical submission) to retain the title. Afterwards, Joe announced the ROH TV Championship is now VACANT. He’s giving it up to go after the AEW World Championship.

Orange Cassidy promo.

Match 5: Gunn Club vs. Bollywood Boyz
Result: Gunn Club beat Bollyeood Boyz. Squash. Lasted just a few seconds.

Jon Moxley promo.

Match 6: Julia Hart vs. Red Velvet
Result: Julia Hart beat Red Velvet

Mariah May is introduced backstage. She signed with AEW after recently leaving Stardom (Japan). She says she’s here because of Toni Storm so RJ City says he’ll introduce May to Storm next week.

Main Event: Jay White vs. Mark Briscoe for White’s AEW World Championship shot at Full Gear
Result: Jay White beat Mark Briscoe to keep his title shot. MJF cleaned house afterwards until White bailed. After this, masked assailants attacked The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn backstage as “The Devil” appeared again to close this clip. MJF ran to the back and found The Acclaimed & Gunn laid out (Anthony Bowens got thrown through a window here) as Samoa Joe walked in on cue, smirked and walked off to end the show.

Next week: Jon Moley & Wheeler Yuta vs. Orange Cassidy & Hook.

Friday on a LIVE Rampage from Oakland, CA: FTR vs. El Hijo Del Vikingo & Komander. Saturday’s Collision will be TAPED after the show. Spoilers to follow Saturday morning.

As the show wound down, Mariah May got the #AllElite graphic on social media. Those who don’t follow Stardom or the international scene closely probably haven’t heard of her. Understandable.

A better show than last week, everything was consistently at or above average with nothing bad or that you need to skip. Strickland-Penta and Joe-Lee were really good matches. Right between C+ & B- but no real complaints.
