Ring Of Honor “Final Battle 2022” Results (12/10/22)

Ring Of Honor holds it’s traditional final major event of the year today, Final Battle 2022, but compared to last year’s very sad theme where it marked the potential end of the promotion, there is a feeling of great optimism this year under All Elite Wrestling owner/founder Tony Khan’s ownership, in part because many are anticipating a new TV or streaming deal to get ROH back on the air is going to be announced soon, possibly this weekend. In the meantime, they wrap up the year with one final loaded card mixing up both ROH and AEW stars for 6 title matches. The main event will be a rematch of Chris Jericho and Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship, but there’s a stip with huge AEW implications-if Castagnoli loses and doesn’t win the title back, he must leave Blackpool Combat Club and join Jericho Appreciation Society. Just before that should be another Instant Classic as FTR defend the ROH Tag Team Championship one more time against The Briscoes in a Double Dog Collar Match.

Today’s event will be held at College Park Center at University Of Texas-Arlington in Artlington, TX and can be watched LIVE on PPV via major cable/satellite providers and Bleacher Report in the US. Outside of the US, it can be watched on ppv.com and FITE. There will also be a FREE 1 hour pre-show on YouTube before the PPV and the post-event media scrum will also stream on YouTube. Based on the media scrum planned start time and pre-show, this could be a marathon event with a total runtime of potentially 4-5 hours. Note that the earlier start time is because they didn’t want to go head-to-head with WWE and, in particular, UFC tonight-the latter has a PPV at 10 PM ET and AEW’s own MJF is scheduled to be in attendance. Also, they claimed on last night’s AEW Rampage there was no college football to go against in this time slot. Clearly Tony Schiavone doesn’t know about the tradition that is America’s Game-Army vs. Navy. ROH is going against it. (GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!)

The post-event media scrum on YouTube will begin shortly (as of 7:10 PM ET). (UPDATE: It is now scheduled to start at 7:15 PM ET)

UPDATE: At the end of the media scrum, Tony Khan revealed more about TV plans for ROH: For now, it will be on the re-launched HonorClub. It also will include all prior ROH TV content and more plus this and upcoming PPVs 90 days after they occur. For now the monthly price will stay the same as before-$9.99. You can go to watchroh.com to subscribe. Live events will likely stay on Bleacher Report as long as owner Warner Bros. Discovery wants it. Plans for the return of weekly TV will be revealed as the time gets closer. So the good news is it’s on the way and now seems to be when rather than if. Khan also noted that .while it will be a little later for PPV buy estimates due to the early start time, the live gate and attendance was the biggest ever for the Final Battle event.

Guests at the scrum were Athena, Claudio Castagnoli and Samoa Joe (who also had the AEW TNT Title belt and was acting very much in AEW character, making for some humorous moments). It ended at about 8:35 PM ET, running about 80 minutes. The whole thing can be watched on demand on YouTube.

AEW Rampage 12/9/22 Results

Here are the quick results from last night’s AEW Rampage in Austin, TX:
Jon Moxley beat Konosuke Takeshita.

Regina di WAVE Champion HIkaru Shida beat The Bunny to retain the title. And earn a shot at AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter.

Lee Moriarty & Big Bill (W. Morrissey) beat Clayton Bloodstome & Izzy James. Bill pinned James after a chokeslam. Squash.

AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy beat TBA, picked by Kip Sabian and revealed to be Trent Seven, to retain the title.

This show came a week after the program’s worst ratings yet, leading Tony Khan to promise a fully loaded show tonight. Only the opening match is worth watching though, it was outstanding.

A Ruby Soho & Tay Melo Speaks segment advertised for the show never happened. Instead they’ll have a match next week on Dynamite.

Next Week: Winter Is Coming aka the annual “IT’S STINK! (Sting)” episode of Dynamite. Main Event is AEW World Champion MJF vs. Ricky Starks for the title AND the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

AEW Rampage 11/25/22 Results

Here are the quick results from today’s TAPED AEW Rampage from Chicago:
The show aired at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT due to NHL coverage on TNT.

ROH Tag Team Champions FTR beat Top Flight to retain the titles. Cash Wheeler pinned Dante Martin after Big Rig.

Chris Jericho promo. This led to Jericho vs. Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship being made for ROH Final Battle 2022 on 12/10, and if Castagnoli loses he must join Jericho Appreciation Society.

Darby Allin beat Anthony Henry.

Hikaru Shida beat Queen Aminata. Squash.

The Butcher & The Blade & Rush beat Dark Order (John Silver, Alex Reynolds, 10). Rush pinned Silver after a 10 Discus Lariat. 10 did not come out for the match until the end, when he turned on Dark Order to defect to LFI. They put Reynolds through a table then 10 unmasked in front of -1 at Ringside, possibly reverting back to being Preston Vance.

Next week on Dynamite: Dax Harwood vs. Bryan Danielson, Willow Nightingale vs. Anna Jay.A.S., Death Triangle vs. The Elite Match 3 of 7 for the AEW Trios Championship (Death Triangle leads 2-0), Jade Cargill Championship celebration, MJF Speaks. More TBA early next week.

In other news, there are rumors that Thunder Rosa could be back in action in February. There are also rumors that going forward the plan for when champions are injured is to have interim titles if they are expected to be out less than 6 months. Beyond that, probably will have to vacate the title(s). That would put Rosa’s return at right about 6 months since going out with a back injury. I’m thinking she’ll be held back for a return at Revolution on 3/5/23 because it’s in San Francisco, CA, where there’s a heavy Hispanic/Latino population that Rosa would get a big pop for.

Rampage will be back at regular time next week.

Announced or expected for Wednesday’s Dynamite based on events tonight:
World Title Eliminator Tournament Finals: Ethan Page vs. Ricky Starks
ROH World Champion Chris Jericho vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the title
AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy vs. Jake Hager for the title

When the media scrum began, it was hard to hear due to lack of microphones but it sounds like Revolution will happen in March 2023, possibly in San Francisco, CA.

BREAKING: Konosuke Takeshita Signs With AEW

All Elite Wrestling just announced that DDT star Konosuke Takeshita has signed with AEW. The deal became official just before last night’s AEW Rampage. Nothing yet from DDT and his future there is uncertain but I imagine Takeshita will still compete in Japan from time to time. He will make a brief appearance tonight on the Full Gear PPV pre-show on YouTube.

AEW Rampage 11/18/22 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s LIVE AEW Rampage in Newark, NJ:

Word Title Eliminator Tournament: Ricky Starks beat Lance Archer. They brawled backstage to open the show and fought all the way to the ring, which lasted almost as long as the match. As a result, Starks will face Brian Cage in the Semifinals tomorrow.

FTW Champion Hook beat Lee Moriarty to retain the title.

Athena beat Madison Rayne. Squash.

Konosuke Takeshita & Jun Akiyama beat Eddie Kingston & Ortiz. Akiyama pinned Ortiz after Exploder.

Good show overall, entertaining from beginning to end.

Added to the Full Gear Pre-Show tomorrow: Beat Friends vs. The Factory (10 Man Tag), Starks-Cage and Kingston-Akiyama.

Next week’s Rampage will air at 4 PM ET/3 PM CT on the east coast due to NHL coverage on TNT. Should be regular time (10 PM PT) on the west coast.

BREAKING: Japanese Legend to AEW This Friday

All Elite Wrestling has just announced a dream match of Konosuke Takeshita & Jun Akiyama vs. Eddie Kingston & Ortiz for this Friday’s AEW Rampage, airing LIVE at 10 PM ET on TNT (TAPED at 10 PM PT). Akiyama, currently a member of DDT along with Takeshita, will be making his AEW debut while Takeshita returns to the promotion after a few months back in DDT after a successful first excursion to the US. Takeshita will probably spend more time in AEW after this Akiyama was not schedules for this weekend’s DDT event and the promotion doesn’t have an event scheduled until 12/2 (excluding an outdoor mini event) so there’s a chance Akiyama sticks around for a match or two next week.

AEW Rampage 11/11/22 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s TAPED AEW Rampage in Boston, MA:

Jungle Boy confronted Christian Cage & Luchasaurus before getting beaten down and chokeslammed on a chair. This set up Jungle Boy vs. Luchasaurus in a steel cage match for Full Gear.

AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament:
Brian Cage beat Dante Martin.
Bandido beat Rush.
As a result, Bandido will face Ethan Page in the Semifinals. Ricky Starks vs. Lance Archer was scheduled for tonight but was postponed after Archer attacked Starks on Dynamite Wednesday. Why this REALLY didn’t happen tonight is not known but Cage faces the winner.

Nyla Rose beat Kayla Sparks. Squash.

AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy beat Lee Johnson to retain the title..

I personally thought this was a really bad episode in every way outside of the squash. Rose imitated Jade Cargill, which was both hilarious and quite good. Very nice pump kick.

After the show went off the air, AEW announced on social media that Bandido has signed with the promotion.

Wednesday on the last Dynamite before Full Gear: Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara, Toni Storm vs. The Bunny, Page-Bandido, AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle vs. Top Flight (with the returning Darius Martin) & AR Fox for the titles, Tony Schiavone interviews Britt Baker, Renee Paquette interviews Saraya, Jon Moxley Speaks, MJF Speaks, Samoa Joe Speaks, and The Acclaimed debut a new music video. While not confirmed, probably Archer-Starks as well. Otherwise Cage would all but get a free pass to the Finals at Full Gear unless Archer-Starks winner competes twice next Friday.

Rampage is LIVE next week.
