DDT 9/14/22 News (Updated)

Time for a roundup of recent DDT news:
This past weekend in JCW in the US, DDT Extreme Champion Joey Janela successfully defended the title against Beastman in a Body Slam Challenge match. The rule was the first to successfully bodyslam your opponent wins, and Janela managed that. V3 for Janela. Video of the entire event may be available on the Game Changer Wrestling YouTube channel (it was a free livestream).
Former AEW Women's World Champion Riho will be part of Tokyo Joshi Pro's major WRESTLE PRINCESS 3 event on 10/9 at Tokyo Dome City Hall. This is expected to be TJPW's biggest event of the year, although a case can be made for GRAND PRINCESS in March when they ran Ryogoku Kokugikan for the first time.
Ganbare has announced two new events for November-an 11/3 holiday matinee at Yokohama Radiant Hall (11/2 US time) and 11/19 at 2AW Square in Chiba.
The full card for DDT on 10/8 in Chiba was announced and is headlined by a KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championship match and two DDT-ONLY WE crossover tag matches. One is an intergender tag of Shunma Katsumata & Saki Akai vs. Hibiscus Mii & Kaji Tomato.

UPDATE: AEW star Abadon, previously announced for the 9/16 TJPW event, is now off that event. Visa issues. She was to have faced Moka Miyamoto. Mei Suruga is the replacement. Refunds will be offered. Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh will also miss the event. Both are on another international excursion.

Ganbare Pro 9/3/22 Results

Ganbare Pro ran an event after Tokyo Joshi Pro today, headlined by a Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Championship match as Yumehito Imanari defended against Hartley Jackson.

Today’s event was held at Narimasu Act Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNVIERSE at a later date. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 118.

Match 1: Ksieuke Ishii beat Yuki Kanzaki.

Match 2: Yuna Manase & YuuRI beat Moeka Haruhi & Yoshiko Hasegawa. Manase pinned Hasegawa after Suzuki Dynamic.

Match 3: In a hardcore match, Shigehiro Irie & Akane Fujita beat Mizuki Watase & HARUKAZE. Irie pinned Watase after an avalanche Samoan Drop onto a chair.

Match 4: Ken Ohka, Shuichiro Katsumura & Takaki Iwasaki beat Takao Soma, Shinichiro Tominaga & Jun Masaoka. Katsumura pinned Tominaga.

Main Event: Hartley Jackson beat Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Champion Yumehito Imanari to win the title. Jackson becomes the 3rd Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Champion. Next up: Yuna Manase. That will happen on 10/2 at Itabashi Green Hall. Can she bring the title back home to GanPro now that it has been wrestled away from those despicable Pheromons, albeit by another outsider?

Ganbare Pro 8/27/22 Results

Ganbare Pro had an outdoor event scheduled that was weather permitting, and it went on as planned. This event was held in a special setting located at an open-air shopping center that was free to attend.

Today’s event was held at Tokorozawa Park Town Shopping Street in Saitama and will be available on demand on WRSETLE UNIVERSE at a later date. There was no live broadcast.

The announced attendance was 389. Admission was free.

Match 1: Yumehito Imanari & Tysin maeguchi beat Gota Ihashi & Takaaki Iwasaki. Imanari pinned Ihashi after a lariat.

Match 2: Moeka Haruhi, HARUKAZE & Cherry beat Yuna Manase, Yoshiko Hasegawa & Kakeru Sekiguchi. Haruhi pinned Hasegawa after 79.5MHz. Cheery was a late replacement for YuuRI, who misse the event due to a hand injury.

Match 3: Aja Kong & Shinichiro Tominaga beat Shota & Takao Soma. Kong pinned Shota after a backfist.

Main Event: Ken Ohka, Shuichiro Katsumura & Keisuke Ishii beat Tatsuhito Takaiwa, Mizuki Watase & SAGAT. Ishii pinned Watase after Nail Kick.

Ganbare Pro 8/21/22 Results

Ganbare Pro ran a small house show today dubbed “Sangalia 2022” that was preceded by the signing ceremony for the upcoming Spirit of Ganbare World Openweight Championship on 9/3. The ceremony, held separately from the event at Narimasu Act Hall in Tokyo, it saw Champion Yumehito Imanari & Challenger Hartley Jackson get heated after much beer-themed (and fueled?) taunting.

Today’s event was held at Takashimidaira Community Center in Tokyo and should be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 114.

Match 1: MAO (DDT) & HARUKAZE beat Onryo & YuuRI. HARUKAZE pinned YuuRI after Flame Spear.

Match 2: Yuna Manase & Moeka Haruhi beat Nao Kakuta (Tokyo Joshi Pro) & Yoshiko Hasegawa. Manase pinned Hasegawa.

Match 3: Hartley Jackson beat Shinichiro Tominaga.

Match 4: Keisuke Ishii beat Shota.

Ganbare Pro ran their latest big event, ULTRA SOUL 2022, today, headlined by the 30th Anniversary of Tatsuhito Takaiwa’s debut and another attempt to wrest the Spirit of Ganbare World Openweight Championship from the control of DDT’s Tumehito Imanari.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 313.

Match 1: Yoshiko Hasegawa Ganbare Debut Match: Moeka Haruhi & YuuRI beat Yuna Manase & Yoshiko Hasegawa. Haruhi pinned Hasegawa after 79.5MHz.

Match 2: hartley Jackson & Max The Impaler beat Mizuki Watase & Tyson Maeguchi. Jackson pinned Maeguchi after a jumping piledriver.

DDT & Ganbare Pro ran a split doubleheader in Osaka today, both at the same venue with DDT running first then Ganbare had their event a couple hours later.

Today’s events were held at 176BOX in Osaka and should be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date. There was no live broadcast for either event.

The announced paid attendance was 235, a full house/near sellout.

During the opening announcements, Konosuke Takeshita announced, via recorded message, a 10th Anniversary event on 9/10.

Match 1: Yukio Sakaguchi beat Kazuki Hirata.

Match 2: Yuki Iino & Danshoku Dieno vs. Toru Owashi & Takao Soma went to a no contest. GM Imabayashi interference.

Match 3: Jun Akiyama, Yuuske Okada & The Bodyguard beat Yuji Hino, Yukio Naya & Yuki Ishida. Bodyguard beat Ishida with Rising Dragon.

In Tokyo Joshi Pro news ahead of tomorrow’s (tonight US time) event, they will return to Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 on 10/29 and while it will not affect tomorrow’s card, since it was announced at the time this news came out, Yuki Aino is off tomorrow’s event. Leg injury. It’s not known if she will miss any additional time.

Ganbare Pro 7/17/22 Results

Ganbare Pro ran a small house show in Tokyo today, resuming their series of occasional events that was put on hold due to the pandemic.

Today’s event was held at Basement MON*STAR in Tokyo and should be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 78, a super full house/very near sellout.

Match 1: Makoto & HARUKAZE beat Moeka Haruhi & YuuRI. Makoto pinned YuuRI after Swelling Swell.

Match 2: Keisuke Ishii & Shota vs. Shuichiro Katsumura & Shinichiro Tominaga went to d double KO. ALL 4 KO’d SIMULTANEOUSLY.

Main Event: In an elimination match with over the top rope rules, where the team left with one person by way of eliminations loses, Ken Ohka, Koki Iwasaki, Mizuki Watase & Sayaka Obihiro beat Yumehito Imanari, Takao Soma, Tyson Maeguchi & Sasuke (?). Order of elimination: Soma by Obihiro, Sasuke (?) by Obihiro, Obihiro by Imanari, Iwasaki by Maeguchi, Maeguchi by Watase. Because Imanari was the only person left for his team, the match ended there and Ohka’s team won. The match went a total of just short of 50 minutes.

After the event, Makoto vs. HARUKAZE was announced for 8/13 at Korakuen Hall as was what likely will be Spirit of Ganbare World Openweight Champion Yumehito Imanari vs. Shigehiro Irie for the title. Also, Shota will be leaving next month for an indefinite excursion to the US. No further details were announced.

Ganbare Pro 7/10/22 Results

Ganbare Pro ran one of their biggest events of the year, if not their biggest, today, an event that like Tokyo Joshi Pro earlier in the day would feature vocal cheering and streamer throwing allowed for the first time in over 2 years as Japanese wrestling slowly attempts to return to normal amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Today’s event was held at Ota City General Gym in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 804.

During the opening, it was announced that female wrestler Yoshiko Hasegawa, a 35-year-old with about 2 1/2 years of experience, is joining the promotion and will debut for Ganbare on 8/13.

Match 1: Isami Kodaka & Shuji Ishikawa beat Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie. Kodaka pinned Ishii after Brave legs & swords.

Match 2: Kouki Iwasaki & Tyson Maeguchi beat Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Black Tiger 5. Maeguchi pinned Tiger after Tyson Splash.

Ganbare Pro 6/29/22 Results

Ganbare Pro ran their first post-CyberFight Festival event today, finishing a very quick build to their next major event in July.

Today’s event was held at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 112.

During the opening, fans were encouraged to bring their voices to the next event in July, where at both Ganbare and Tokyo Joshi Pro fans will be allowed to cheer vocally, throw ticker tape/streamers and post support banners for the first time since the pandemic began. Masks are still required for fans and capacity at the venue will be limited to 50% (that will mean max crowds of around 1500).

Match 1: Kouki Iwasaki beat Tatsuya Matsubo by submission.

Match 2: Mizuki Watase, Moeka Haruhi & HARUKAZE beat Shuichiro Katsumura, Yuna Manase & YuuRI. Haruhi pinned YuuRI after 79.5MHz.

Today’s event was held at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 122.

Match 1: Rie Kawabata & Maria beat HARUKAZE & YuuRI. Kawabata pinned YuuRI after a moonsault press.

Match 2: Takao Soma beat Tsuyoshi Okada.

Match 3: Shuichiro Katsumura & Shigehiro Irie beat Kouki Iwasaki & Taison Maeguchi. Katsumura beat Maeguchi. After this, Katsumura vs. Minoru Suzuki was added to their 7/10 event.

Match 4: Masa Takanashi beat Shota.
