Impact Wrestling Final Resolution 2023 Results (12/9/23) (Updated)
Impact Wrestling wraps up their 2023-and the Impact era-today with their final live event of the year, Final Resolution. It’s also the last official event before their rebranding to once again be TNA Wrestling in January (more on that and related news in a bit). With most of the major Hard To Kill matches already set, this one is less about title matches (just 2) and more about big names in big-on-paper matches. Ahead of Kazuchika Okada’s TNA return in January, Zack Sabre Jr. will represent New Japan tonight in what is the likely main event, teaming with Josh Alexander against Motor City Machine Guns. The Knockouts headliner is Trinity & Jordynne Grace vs. Deonna Purrazzo & Gisele Shaw as Trinity once again teams with her next Knockouts World Championship challenger in Grace and there’s a chance this is Purrazzo’s Impact finale (she is about to be a free agent). There’s also a potential hoss fight on tap between Rhino & Moose. The title matches are for the Impact Tag Team Championship as Ace Austin & Chris Bey defend against Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards and Digital Media Champion Tommy Dreamer defends against Deaner after retaining last time out by DQ.
Today’s event will be held at Don Kolov Arena in Toronto, Canada and can be watched LIVE on Impact+ (subscription required), YouTube (Ultimate Insider subscription required) and FITE ($9.99). The event is a legit advance sellout. This may be the last live broadcast on all platforms as is because Impact has also announced their streaming service has been acquired by Endeavor…THAT Endeavor, the one that is now a part-owner of WWE (HEY YO!), and while they promise improvements when they relaunch it as TNA+ next year (during the show it was announced it will launch on 1/5), other plans are uncertain. TNA+ also means a price increase-the service price will go up to $9.99/month or $95.99/year (20% more a month or nearly 1/3 more for yearly, currently it’s $7.99/month or $71.99/year) but current Impact+ subscribers will reportedly get a promo offer next week. It will be the same content at Impact+ right now, but they also will offer a VIP plan for $219.95/year (annual only) which will include the 4 quarterly PPVs live instead of having to wait 30 days for on demand. That’s about a $36 savings over buying them separately, or almost one free (their PPVs are $40). What this means for the YouTube subscription plans is not yet known. (And on a slightly related note, FITE announced today they will be changing their name to Triller TV, essentially having their current owner’s name forced on them. They will expand their sports offerings somewhat under the Triller label but will retain their focus of extensive combat sports coverage including a ton of pro wrestling).
There will also be a FREE 30 minute pre-show on all platforms. Given they always stick to a set timeframe for live monthly events and PPVs expect this event to have a total running time of 3 1/2 hours.

The end graphic had the wrong copyright year, 2022. HAHAHA! Way to end 20 years of Impact! The show was a slight bit shorter than expected with the main portion coming in at just under 2 hours 45 minutes.

This episode was taped on 11/11 and is a special called “IPWF (Impact Provincial Wrestling Federation) Throwback Throwdown 4”, a fictional earlier version of Impact with current wrestlers taking on old-school themed and low-flying personas from before the 1990s. I’m guessing as to who some of the wrestlers really are.
The YouTube pre-show appears to have been cancelled as there hasn’t been one for a while. None again this week. May not be back until the TNA re-branding in January. While the pro-WWE internet trolls absolutely hated on this, I actually enjoyed this a lot. A fun parody of 1980s old-school WWF. Check it out and leave your expectations at the door, just enjoy the ridiculous comedy for what it is meant to be!

Sonny Kiss interviewed backstage. Trinity shows up after overhearing Kiss setting sights on the Impact Knockouts Championship. Trinity says she’ll try to make it happen next week.
Match 5: Dirty Dango & Oleg Prudius beat 2 jobbers. Squash. Dango actually joined commentary until right before the end of the match after it started and let Prudius destroy the jobbers.
Jordynne Grace promo. Bully Ray interrupts her. Then KiLynn King also cuts in. King talks up facing Bully but Bully tries to talk her down. Then Steve Maclin shows up. He calls Bully soft again. Threats exchanged before Maclin leaves followed by King.
Rascalz promo. They introduce Myron Reed as their new member and apparently will face “some luchadors” next week.

Depending on whether or not there will be an episode on 11/23 (Thanksgiving Day in the US), they may be taping up to 4 weeks of content or will have to come up with some other stuff to get them to Final Resolution, the next monthly live event, on 12/9. There also aren’t any more TV tapings being advertised until 1/14 when they return to being TNA Wrestling with Hard To Kill on 1/13. Both 1/13 & 1/14 events will be in Las Vegas, NV.

Ospreay post-match promo. He has a “huge announcement” to make in response to fan questions first…he fixed his kitchen. HA! That joke aside, he put Impact/TNA over and sent the crowd home happy.
While the matches were solid as always, the video quality of this event was not as good as usual, in particular with the ringside cameras. No issues with the hard camera but the ringside cameras were like the ones New Japan has used recently as US events, not high-quality. The sound quality/level was off a little for the main show after the pre-show. Those took a bit away from the experience for me. Main show was a little shorter than usual, including the show-ending promo it was only 2 hours 40 minutes. If the gripes about video quality don’t bother you, it’s another great show and as usual the Europe crowd was hot all event. Europe fans are always hot even if you don’t get their constant singing like they do at soccer matches.

It was announced in advance tonight’s broadcast would feature replays of 2 COMPLETE PPV matches: Will Ospreay vs. Mike Bailey and Impact World Champion Alex Shelley vs. Josh Alexander for the title.
The show opens with Thom Hannifan & Matt Rehwoldt introducing things, taped Saturday after the PPV. They made it sound like tonight is going to be a special clip show/PPV recap with no post-PPV matches. Just BFG highlights.
Ospreay-Bailey replay opens the show. Starts right after the bell rang, no entrances shown. When they had to go to commercial during this match, they resumed the replay back a few seconds before the break.
Highlights of the Call Your Shot Gauntlet, a 20-person staggered entry match where the eventual winner gets a future title shot of their choice. When it got down to the last 2, it became a normal match with win only by pinfall or submission. And those last 2 were Jordynne Grace and Bully Ray.

The show ends with a replay of the PPV-ending video package announcing the return of TNA (Total Nonstop Action). Impact will change its name back to TNA Wrestling at Hard To Kill on January 13, 2024. Including the Scott D’Amore promo that followed. A funny spot was showing a large room where most if not all the roster that wasn’t in the ring was watching & reacting.

The promotion is now in England for a 4-day tour that will include TV tapings for an upcoming episode of Impact next month and tomorrow will be Turning Point, which will be taped and air on Impact+, FITE and YouTube for Ultimate Insiders on 11/3 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT. Confirmed for Turning Point: Trinity vs. Donna Purrazzo for the Impact Knockouts Championship. And reportedly there is a stip-if Purrazzo loses, she can’t get another title shot while Trinity is champion as Purrazzo is 0-2 against the champ.
Although the event will be taped when it premieres next week. I will not be posting spoilers ahead of time and will be attempting to avoid them so I will hopefully be going into the event not yet knowing what happened.
10/27 UPDATE: On social media, Impact announced there were TV tapings at one of the England events happening this weekend. That episode will air next week.
BREAKING: Impact Star Signs New Extension
PCO Is Not Human. He also will continue to make an Impact. Coming off a win in a Monster’s Ball match at Bound For Glory, the French-Canadian Frankenstein has signed an extension with the promotion. Terms were not disclosed but he will be part of when the promotion rebrands itself again as TNA Wrestling in January 2024 at Hard To Kill in Las Vegas. That’s where PCO returned to the promotion in January 2022.

Will Ospreay (New Japan) beat Mike Bailey.
The Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match, where the winner gets a future title shot of their choice, was won by Jordynne Grace. She immediately called her shot, meaning she gets an Impact Knockouts Championship match at Hard To Kill.
Impact Knockouts Champion Trinity beat Mickie James to retain the title. Grace is next barring the unexpected.
Moose cashed in his Feast Or Fired briefcase and will get an Impact World Championship match at Hard To Kill.
Impact World Champion Alex Shelley beat Josh Alexander to retain the title.
