Stardom 4/27/24 Results

STARDOM ALL-STAR GRAND QUEENDOM 2024, Stardom’s latest blowout event today, is in the books.

Today’s event was held at Yokohama Buntai in Yokohama and can be watched on demand on PPV via Pia Stream for 4400 Japanese yen (just under $30 US) until Tuesday morning. It should be available on demand on Stardom World soon after that. However, there once again were issues with the PPV, this time with purchasing the English commentary version ahead of time (there was also Japanese). They fixed it quickly but had to issue refunds again because some had to purchase it twice to get English. You can also watch the pre-show matches and the first PPV match FOR FREE on YouTube.

The announced paid attendance was 2735. This is a new venue that may be replacing Yokohama Budokan and has a listed capacity of 5000, but the setup was probably for quite a bit smaller. I’m guessing this number was 70-75% full.

Pre-show:
Match 1: Momo Kohgo beat Ranna Yagami.
Match 2: Yuna Mizumori & Aya Sakura beat Lady C & Rian. Mizumori pinned Rian.

PPV:
Match 1: Future Of Stardom Champion Rina beat Sayaka Kurara to retain the title. V8 for Rina.

Match 2: Syuri, Konami & Ami Sohrei beat Gina, Waka Tsukiyama & HANAKO. Konami pinned Tsukiyama after Triangle Lancer. Now that she is part of Stardom and not a freelancer anymore, Konami has joined the God’s Eye faction.

Match 3: Saya Kamitani beat High Speed Champion Saki Kashima, Saya Iida & Fukigen in a 4-way by pinning Fukigen to win the title. Kamitani becomes the 26th High Speed Champion.

Match 4: Mina Shirakawa vs. Natsuko Tora went to a no contest. Thekla interference. Returning after a long absence, Thekla has now joined the Oedo Tai faction.

Match 5; Aja Kong & Kaoru Ito (OZ Academy) beat Tam Nakano & Natsupoi. Kong pinned Nakano after a diving elbow drop.

Match 6: Goddesses Of Stardom Champions Suzu Suzuki & Mei Seira beat Starlight Kid & Ruaka, Hazuki & Koguma and AZM & Miyu Amasaki in a 4-way, when Seira pinned Ruaka, to retain the titles. V2 for the champs. Afterwards, Kid was kicked out of Oedo Tai and got a post-match beatdown until Tam Nakano made the save.

Match 7: IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani beat Sareee to retain the title. V5 for Iwatani. Next up: Possibly Ice Ribbon star & longtime figurehead/leader Tsukasa Fujimoto, who also teased perhaps a handicap match with Arisa Nakajima before her apparent impending retirement against Iwatani.

Match 8: Wonder Of Stardom Champion Saori Anou beat Hanan to retain the title. V2 for Anou. Next up: Ami Sohrei or Natsupoi. Anou made a determination match between them for the future.

Main Event: In a 3 Falls Match with different rules for each fall, World Of Stardom Champion Maika beat Momo Watanabe 2-1 to retain the title. Fall 1 was a normal match won by Watanabe. Fall 2 was a Hardcore Falls Count Anywhere match won by Maika. Fall 3 was a Last Woman Standing match won by Maika. V4 for Maika.

The next event is Monday at Fukuyama Big Rose in Hiroshima. It will be available on demand at a later date. (The next scheduled live event is Friday, one of 6 live broadcasts scheduled for May. 4 will be on Stardom World while 5/5 in Fukuoka and 5/18 at Yokohama Budokan will be PPVs)

DEVELOPING: New Japan Acquiring Stardom

New Japan has announced that, effective June 28, it will be acquiring Stardom from parent company Bushiroad Corporation. The promotion will acquire all stakes in Bushiroad Fight Co. Ltd, due to be renamed Stardom Co. Ltd., for 100 million Japanese yen (around $675,000 US). Beyond statements form Stardom President/CEO Taro Okada & NJPW President/CEO Hiroshi Tanahashi, no further details were released.

More as it becomes available.

Stardom 4/21/24 Results (Updated)

Stardom has their second event of the weekend coming up today in Osaka, this one with 6 matches and also a title match. The title match is for the Goddesses Of Stardom Championship as Suzu Suzuki & Mei Seira defend against Risa Sera & Kurumi Hiragi from the Prominence promotion, both challengers clearly going after former partner Suzuki. Elsewhere, this is the last event before their last major event so there could be some final build for next weekend.

Today’s event will be held at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka and can be watched LIVE on Stardom World for paid subscribers (currently around $6.25/month) and also as a PPV via Pia Stream for 2200 Japanese yen (around $15 US). Both streams will be the same. You can also watch the first match FOR FREE on YouTube. There will be no commentary for all broadcasts. Yesterday’s event went 2 hours with 5 matches so with a 6th match and title matches normally having a 30 minute time limit I anticipate this event will go closer to 2 1/4 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Saya Kamitani, AZM, Lady C & Miyu Amasaki vs. Tam Nakano, Yuna Mizumori, Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara
Saki Kashima vs. Saya Iida & Rian in a 3-way
Syuri, Ami Sohrei & Ranna Yagami vs. Hazuki, Koguma & Momo Kohgo
Mina Shirakawa, Waka Tsukiyama, Gina & HANAKO vs. Natsuko Tora, Starlight Kid, Ruaka & Fukigen
Maika, Saori Anou & Mayu Iwatani vs. Momo Watanabe, Hanan & Natsupoi
Goddesses Of Stardom Champions Suzu Suzuki & Mei Seira vs. Risa Sera & Kurumi Hiragi for the titles

Updates below will begin at 9 PM PT/midnight ET. The live stream has begun and is currently in pre-show mode.

8:55 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka, Japan. There is no commentary.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. The venue can normally hold at least 1300 but has been set up for smaller since the pandemic, but whatever the setup is looks close to full. As it’s what they seem to be doing since full crowds were allowed all over the country again I’m guessing it’ll be much smaller than that, probably around 550. (Actually as we see the second angle hard camera, much higher up than yesterday, I see front rows of empty seats so I’m revising my estimate to 500) (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 389)

The matches should begin shortly. The match card rundown starts the show, except for the 3-way and main event all matches today are 20 minute time limit. 15 minutes for the 3-way and 30 minutes for the title match. Order is as listed above.

Result: Saya Iida beat Saki Kashima & Rian in a 3-way by pinning Kashima. Afterwards, Iida with microphone. High Speed Championship shot called. Kashima asked the down Rian about it but instead Saya Kamitani came out. Then they were joined by Fukigen. That gave Kashima an idea…4-way! We’ll see what happens, might be a late add to the PPV next weekend.

Match 3: Syuri, Ami Sohrei & Ranna Yagami vs. Hazuki, Koguma & Momo Kohgo. 20 minute time limit
Result: Hazuki, Koguma & Momo Kohgo beat Syuri, Ami Sohrei & Ranna Yagami. Hazuki pinned Yagami after a diving senton.

Quick break for ring cleaning.

Match 5: Maika, Saori Anou & Mayu Iwatani vs. Momo Watanabe, Hanan & Natsupoi. 20 minute time limit
Result: Time Limit Draw

Main Event: Goddesses Of Stardom Champions Suzu Suzuki & Mei Seira vs. Risa Sera & Kurumi Hiragi for the titles. 30 minute time limit
Result: Goddesses Of Stardom Champions Suzu Suzuki & Mei Seira beat Risa Sera & Kurumi Hiragi to retain the titles. Suzuki pinned Hiragi with a German suplex hold. V1 for the champs. Next up…well, no fewer than 3 teams came out: Koguma & Hazuki, AZM & Seira and Ruaka & Kid. 4-way?

The next event is STARDOM GRAND QUEENDOM 2024 Saturday at Yokohama Buntai in Yokohama. Live streaming as a PPV via Pia Stream will begin Friday at 11 PM PT/2 AM ET. It will be available on demand on Stardom after the PPV viewing window ends, which should be sometime next week.

Stardom 4/20/24 Results

As Stardom continues to move on from the mass talent exodus (mostly to Rossy Ogawa’s newly-announced Marigold promotion), the promotion also continues to further test live streaming capability with this weekend’s doubleheader. Today they’re in Kobe for a house show with 5 scheduled matches ahead of tomorrow’s event, which has a title match scheduled. The likely main event is a 10-woman tag match with rules rarely seen in women’s wrestling these days-3 Falls with a 1 Hour time limit as HLA…I mean, E Nexus V (Mina Shirakawa sure bought the HLA on her recent US tour during The Collective) vs. the Oedo Corps faction.

Today’s event will be held at Kobe Sambo Hall in Kobe and can be watched LIVE on Stardom World. There will be no commentary. Most non-title matches in the promotion have 15-20 minute time limits so even with the potential hour-long main event I anticipate this event’s total running time being around 2 hours.

Today’s lineup (match order TBA):
Suzu Suzuki & Mei Seira vs. Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara
Natsupoi vs. Ami Sohrei, Lady C & Rian in a 4-way
Syuri, Saki Kashima & Ranna Yagami vs. Hazuki, Saya Iida & Momo Kohgo and Saya Kamitani, AZM & Miyu Amasaki in a 3-way
Mayu Iwatani, Hanan & Koguma vs. Saori Anou, Tam Nakano & Yuna Mizumori
Maika, Mina Shirakawa, Gina, HANAKO & Waka Tsukiyama vs. Natsuko Tora, Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid, Ruaka & Fukigen in a 3 Falls match

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 9 PM PT/midnight ET.

8:30 PM PT UPDATE: You can also watch the first match live & on demand FOR FREE on YouTube. It looks like the first match will be Suzuki/Seira vs. Sakura/Kurara.

8:40 PM PT UPDATE: The Stardom World live stream is up and running in pre-show mode. The live broadcast should begin in about 20 minutes.

9 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Kobe Sambo Hall in Kobe, Japan. There is no commentary.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Usually the venue can be set up for between 600-800 for wrestling, and it looks like a near-sellout. Depends on the setup but I’m guessing it’ll be in the 500-550 range. At least a full house, could wind up being a legit sellout. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 305. Not even close to either)

Match card rundown, it’s going to be the order listed above.

Match 1: Suzu Suzuki & Mei Seira vs. Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara. 15 minute time limit
Result: Suzu Suzuki & Mei Seira beat Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara. Seira beat Kurara with an inverted face lock.

The YouTube broadcast ends here.

Match 2: Natsupoi vs. Ami Sohrei, Lady C & Rian in a 4-way. 15 minute time limit
Result: Natsupoi beat Ami Sohrei, Lady C & Rian in a 4-way by pinning Rian.

Match 3: Syuri, Saki Kashima & Ranna Yagami vs. Hazuki, Saya Iida & Momo Kohgo and Saya Kamitani, AZM & Miyu Amasaki in a 3-way. 20 minute time limit. During intros there was a funny spot when, during Iida’s intro, she took part of her outerwear off and tossed it up, and it got caught on pipes above the ring! Thankfully one of the other wrestlers was able to jump high enough to pull it down.
Result: Saya Kamitani, AZM & Miyu Amasaki beat Syuri, Saki Kashima & Ranna Yagami and Hazuki, Saya Iida & Momo Kohgo in a 3-way when Kamitani pinned Kashima. Based on post-match happenings, Kamitani could now be angling for a shot at the High Speed Championship held by Kashima.

Match 4: Mayu Iwatani, Hanan & Koguma vs. Saori Anou, Tam Nakano & Yuna Mizumori. 20 minute time limit
Result: Mayu Iwatani, Hanan & Koguma beat Saori Anou, Tam Nakano & Yuna Mizumori. Hanan pinned Mizumori with a German suplex hold.

Intermission. Main Event coming up shortly.

Main Event: Maika, Mina Shirakawa, Gina, HANAKO & Waka Tsukiyama vs. Natsuko Tora, Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid, Ruaka & Fukigen in a 3 Falls match. 1 Hour time limit
Fall 1: Watanabe pinned Tsukiyama.
Fall 2: Tora DQ’d. Weapon use.
Fall 3: Maika pinned Fukigen.
Result: E Nexus V wins 2-1. In total, the match went just under 20 minutes.

Overall the streaming experience was good as Stardom continues ramping up live broadcasts on Stardom World, it was high quality (1080p HD) and there were only a couple times when it cut out (once during the main event, perhaps due to activity all over the venue) but for less than a second each time. There are more live streams to come which is a good sign. For my first time watching live on the service, a solid 9/10. Interesting to note they used 2 hard cameras-an additional one looking at one corner of the ring and the other in the traditional position-in addition to ringside cameras. Rather unique to me.

The next event is tomorrow at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka. Live streaming on Stardom World (also as a PPV via Pia Stream for around $15 US) will begin at 9 PM PT/midnight ET. Live results are tentatively scheduled.

Regarding Stardom 4/20-4/21 Results

In a post on their official English Twitter account, Stardom just announced their upcoming events on 4/20 & 4/21 will be streamed LIVE on Stardom World for subscribers. Because of this, I am pleased to announce plans to do LIVE results for both events. 4/21 will have a Goddesses Of Stardom Championship match as the likely main event.

Saturday’s event will be at Kobe Sambo Hall in Kobe. Sunday’s event is at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka. The live streams will begin Friday & Saturday, respectively, at 9 PM PT/midnight ET.

(4/27 broadcast plans for their major event at Yokohama Buntai in Yokohama are pending, but I have a feeling that will be a PPV with Stardom World on demand a few days later once the PPV window ends)
