TJPW News: Young Wrestler Taking Another Long Break

Tokyo Joshi Pro had announced that Runa Okubo, the youngest member of the roster, is going on another indefinite hiatus, and likely a long-term one. Because of changes in her life right now, pertaining in large part to education (she started high school earlier this year), she would have a hard time balancing wrestling & school so after discussions with the promotion and her parents, it was decided she would take another extended hiatus from wrestling after next Sunday’s event at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo. Her final match will be against Yuki Kamifuku. Okubo will be back at some point like last time but when isn’t known. Not knowing bow the Japanese education calendar works I’m thinking at least 6 months.

BREAKING: TJPW Title Match Set For Osaka

Tokyo Joshi Pro just announced a big title match for later this year when Zara Zakher returns to the promotion…remember her impressive showing in the Tokyo Princess Cup, which included beating Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe in Round 2 in a massive upset? It will be the first such title match in Osaka in over 5 years (September 2019). Zakher also has been announced for the 11/22 event at Shibjuku Face in Tokyo.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling “ALL RISE ’24” LIVE Results (10/6/24)

Tokyo Joshi Pro runs their monthly mid-major event, ALL RISE ’24, today in Tokyo. It’s not quite as major as most monthly events because in an unusual occurrence there are no TJPW title matches and the only title match is for outside titles. The main attraction is an appearance by Meiko Satomura-the highly respected 30-year veteran is retiring in April and will find herself opposite Miyu Yamashita for the first time in 7 years, which was early on in Yamashita’s career when they faced each other in a single match. This time it’s a tag match as an early stop in Satomura’s farewell tour as her career has taken her from All-Japan Women to being a co-founder of Sendai Girls with Jinsei Shinzaki, to WWE in recent years (as part of the NXT brand, mostly it’s short-lived UK spinoff and as a coach) and now back to Japan and TJPW. As for the title match, Yuki Kamifuku will defend the Queen Of Asia & VPW (Vietnam) Certified Women’s Championships against Xia Zhao, the former Xia Li in WWE (the first Chinese woman wrestler in the promotion) who also has begun competing in TNA Wrestling under a different name.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese and English. There are 8 matches scheduled but only the title match and main event have more than 20 minute time limits so expect this to be a “standard” Korakuen event with a running time of about 2 1/2 hours, the longest it could possibly go is about 3 hours.

Today’s lineup (in order):
Wakana Uehara & Haru Kazashiro vs. Toga & Uta Takami
Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku vs. Kakeru Sekiguchi, Kira Summer & Chika Nanase
Suzume & Yoshiko Hasegawa vs. Moka Miyamoto & Kaya Toribami
Mizuki & Mahiro Kiryu vs. Andreza Giant Panda & Shino Suzuki
Maki Itoh & Rika Tatsumi vs, Yuna Manase & HIMAWARI
Ryo Mizunami vs Arisu Endo
Yuki Kamifuku vs. TBA (see update below)
Miu Watanabe & Miyu Yamashita vs. Meiko Satomura & Shoko Nakajima

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 7:30 PM PT/10:30 PM ET. The live stream is scheduled to begin at 7 PM PT/10 PM ET.

UPDATE (Pre-show): The double title match is now off. Zhao is now off the event. Visa issues. It will be rescheduled for a later date. Replacement TBA and it will be a NON-TITLE match with a 15 minute time limit instead of 30..

7 PM PT UPDATE: Live stream launch has been pushed back 10 minutes and will now begin at 7:10 PM PT/10:10 PM ET.

7:10 PM PT UPDATE: The live stream has launched. We should be going to the venue in 10-15 minutes.

7:20 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Kagehiro Osano & Sayoko Mita. Your English hosts are Mr. Haku & Baliyan Akki.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Both north side bleachers behind commentary are tarped off so it’s the usual reduced capacity setup and the Xia Zhao absence announcement may hurt same-day ticket sales. Advance sales seemed to be “as usual” so while it’s too early to take a guess I’ll predict it’ll be “my usual guess” of around 700. (After seeing some wider shots of the reserved seats mid-event I’m revising my prediction downward quite a bit to around 550) (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 611)

The matches should begin in about 20 minutes.

During the opening announcements two new trainees were introduced (didn’t get their names). One of them might be part of Up Up Girls in the future. The promotion will be holding tryouts on 10/31 (anyone can apply with the only requirements being between 13-25 years old and able to come to Tokyo for practice). Also announced recently was the bracket for the NEXGENE ’24 Tournament and that the winner gets a future title shot of their choice (Princess Of Princess, International Princess or Princess Tag Team). So one of them could be the next challenger for either Miu Watanabe or Yuki Arai. Neko Haruna then came out. She has been out most of the year due to injuries but it sounds like she may be very close to returning, possibly when they go back to Ryogoku KFC Hall later this month. Updates will follow. Then it’s Up Up Girls time so we’re trending for a roughly 7:45 PM PT start for the matches. (Update: Neko Haruna will return on 10/27)

The TBA for Kamifuku’s opponent will not be revealed until match time. It was also moved from match 7 to match 6 with Ryo Mizunami vs. Arisu Endo now the semifinal.

The matches begin at 7:45 PM PT/10:45 PM ET.

Match 5: Maki Itoh & Rika Tatsumi vs, Yuna Manase (Ganbare Pro) & HIMAWARI. 20 minute time limit
Result: Maki Itoh & Rika Tatsumi beat Yuna Manase & HIMAWARI. Tatsumi pinned HIMAWARI with a rollup.

Match 6: Yuki Kamifuku vs. TBA. 15 minute time limit. TBA is…Kuroshio TOKYO Japan!?! As usual his entrance is/will be longer than the actual match!
Result: Yuki Kamifuku beat Kuroshio TOKYO Japan. Mostly a comedy match.

Quick break for ring repairs.

Match 7: Ryo Mizunami (Independent/Freelancer) vs. Arisu Endo. 15 minute time limit
Result: Ryo Mizunami beat Arisu Endo

Main Event: Miu Watanabe & Miyu Yamashita vs. Meiko Satomura & Shoko Nakajima. 30 minute time limit
Result: Meiko Satomura & Shoko Nakajima beat Miu Watanabe & Miyu Yamashita. Satomura pinned Yamashita after Death Valley Bomb. Satomura followed with a few words post-match as Yamashita was left stunned & speechless to end the show.

The next event is 10/13 at Kasukabe Fureai Cube in Saitama with the first match of the NEXGENE ’24 Tournament, which will be Toga vs. HIMAWARI. Shoko Nakajima will miss the event due to a US tour. There will be no live broadcast.

In other news, the promotion announced thie year’s NEXGENE tournament, only for rookies and second year wrestlers, will begin on 10/13. It’s a single-elimination event with 8 participants, which is everyone who’s debuted on the last year-plus except for Runa Okubo.

Tokyo Joshi Pro 9/22/24 Results (Updated)

WRESTLE PRINCESS 5, Tokyo Joshi Pro’s signature fall blowout event and second-biggest event of the year (it was the biggest until being usurped by GRAND PRINCESS a couple years ago), is in the books.

Today’s event was held at Makuhari Messe Industrial Exhibition Hall 6 in Chiba and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. (Normally it would be held in Tokyo but Korakuen Hall wasn’t available)

The announced paid attendance was 756.

Match 1: Haru Kazashiro beat Runa Okubo.

Match 2: Yoshiko Hasegawa, Kaya Toribami & HIMAWARI beat Kira Summer, Chika Nanase & Uta Takami. Toribami pinned Nanase.

Match 6: Emi Sakura beat Shoko Nakajima.

Match 7: Xia Zhao (formerly Xia Li in WWE) & Mizuki beat Yuki Kamifuku & Veny. Zhao pinned Kamifuku after Thunder Strike. Post-match, Zhao challenged Kamifuku for both her current Asia promotion championships. (Zhao is also headed to TNA Wrestling soon but under a different name)

Match 8: International Princess Champion Yuki Arai beat Moka Miyamoto to retain the title. V5 for Arai. That’s a new record for most successful defenses in a reign. Obviously this all makes me very happy.

Match 9: Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh beat Princess Tag Team Champions Suzume & Arisu Endo to win the titles. Yamashita & Itoh become the 17th Princess Tag Team Champions. Yamashita pinned Endo after Crash Rabbit Heat.

Main Event: Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe beat Ryo Mizunami to retain the title. V4 for Watanabe. Over the last month or so Watanabe did her pre-GRAND PRINCESS ritual of counting down the days left each night before signing off on social media so it had me worried she might wind up losing the title. Thankfully that did not happen.

The next event is Saturday at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo to kick off the fall house show tour. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET.

In other news, only one match was announced for upcoming events today: Miu Watanabe & Miyu Yamashita vs. Meiko Satomura (WWE) & Shoko Nakajima will happen at ALL RISE ’24 on 10/6 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Ryo Mizunami participation has also been confirmed for the event.

UPDATE: Injury Report-Runa Okubo suffered an undisclosed injury today in her match. Out indefinitely and will miss Saturday. Also off Saturday are Raku, Pom Harajuku and Yoshiko Hasegawa. Raku & Harajuku will be at events in Thailand. Hasegawa is off due to scheduling conflicts.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 9/8/24 Results (Updated)

Tokyo Joshi Pro returns to Nagoya today for “Always Be A Challenger ’24”, with the focus on both Nagoya-based SKE48 and next week’s house show in Aizawakamatsu. That’s because SKE48’s Yuki Arai defends the International Princess Championship today against Arisu Endo, who wants nothing more than to go home as a double champion (she is half of the current Princess Tag Team Champions). Considering there’s only 2 weeks left until WRESTLE PRINCESS 5, one of the promotion’s biggest events of the year, there’s not much else build-wise to that event today. Also no SKE38 performance which is unusual for a Nagoya event, but Yoshiko Hasegawa makes her first appearance as a full-time participant in TJPW today as well.

Today’s event will be held at Nagoya International Conference Center Event Hall in Nagoya and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. It’s a 7 match card and with only the main event possibly going longer than 20 minutes this event wouldn’t go much longer than 2 1/2 hours at most but probably will be just over 2 hours. Results may also be on slight delay because I will be simulcasting this event and a Stardom event today for most of the event.

Today’s; lineup:
Toga vs. Kira Summer
Raku vs. Mahiro Kiryu & HIMAWARI in a 3-way
Yuki Kamifuku & Pom Harajuku vs. Wakana Uehara & Chika Nanase
Rika Tatsumi & Yuki AIno vs. Kaya Toribami & Moka Miyamoto
Miyu Yamashita, Runa Okubo & Haru Kazashiro vs. Mizuki, Shino Suzuki & Uta Takami
Miu Watanabe & Suzume vs. Shoko Nakajima & Yoshiko Hasegawa
International Princess Champion Yuki ARai vs. Arisu Endo for the title

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 8:30 PM PT/11:30 PM ET. The live stream is scheduled to begin at 8:15 PM PT/11:15 PM ET.

8:30 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Nagoya International Conference Center Event Hall in Nagoya, Japan. There is no commentary.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Advance sales were good and while this venue can be configured for nearly 3000, today’s capacity will be much smaller. Probably going to be close to maybe 500. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 507)

They wasted little time getting right to Up Up Girls.

The matches begin at 8:38 PM PT/11:38 PM ET.

Match 1: Toga vs. Kira Summer. 15 minute time limit
Result: Toga beat Kira Summer

Match 2: Raku vs. Mahiro Kiryu & HIMAWARI in a 3-way. 15 minute time limit
Result: Raku beat Mahiro Kiryu & HIMAWARI in a 3-way by pinning HIMAWARI.

Match 3: Yuki Kamifuku & Pom Harajuku vs. Wakana Uehara & Chika Nanase. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuki Kamifuku & Pom Harajuku beat Wakana Uehara & Chika Nanase. Kamifuku pinned Nanase after Fameasser.

Match 4: Rika Tatsumi & Yuki AIno vs. Kaya Toribami & Moka Miyamoto. 20 minute time limit
Result: Rika Tatsumi & Yuki AIno beat Kaya Toribami & Moka Miyamoto. Aino pinned Toribami after Venus DDT.

Match 5: Miyu Yamashita, Runa Okubo & Haru Kazashiro vs. Mizuki, Shino Suzuki & Uta Takami. 20 minute time limit
Result: Miyu Yamashita, Runa Okubo & Haru Kazashiro beat Mizuki, Shino Suzuki & Uta Takami. Yamashita pinned Suzuki after Attitude Adjustment.

Match 6: Miu Watanabe & Suzume vs. Shoko Nakajima & Yoshiko Hasegawa. 20 minute time limit
Result: Miu Watanabe & Suzume beat Shoko Nakajima & Yoshiko Hasegawa. Watanabe beat Hasegawa with a modified sharpshooter.

Main Event: International Princess Champion Yuki ARai vs. Arisu Endo for the title. 30 minute time limit
Result: International Princess Champion Yuki Arai beat Arisu Endo to retain the title. V4 for Arai. And I go home happy, although Endo will not. Next up: Moka Miyamoto. Maybe in 2 weeks at WRESTLE PRINCESS 5. Updates to follow.

The next event is Saturday at Aizuwakamatsu City Tsuruga Castle Gym in Fukushima for the next Arisu Endo hometown event. Streamers/paper tape throwing will be allowed only for Endo. Shoko Nakajima will not be at the event due to a US tour and Yuki Kamifuku will miss the event due to a China tour. There will be no live broadcast.

UPDATE: It’s now official. Arai-Miyamoto at WRESTLE PRINCESS 5. With zero pre-match build because Arai is not on next week’s event unless plans change, and that’s it before WRESTLE PRINCESS 5. Arai has a great title reign going but much to my dismay this could be the end.
