Tokyo Joshi Pro Upcoming Cards, Notes

Tokyo Joshi Pro today announced this weekend’s card and more details regarding Hikari Noa’s first international excursion, which was announced at this past weekend’s event:
As revealed Sunday, Noa is headed to England for an International Princess Championship match against current Champion Alex Windsor. That match will happen during the Pro Wrestling Eve event on Thursday, September 1 at 229 The Venue in London. The event starts at 8 PM BST, which is 3 PM ET/Noon PT, in Japan that’s (I believe) on 9/2 at 4 AM JST. It will be streamed live on YouTube, but in all likelihood it will be behind a paywall so to see most of the event you’ll have to pay. I don’t know how much yet. This will be the first title defense for Windsor.

The full card for Saturday at Ryogoku KFC Hall (Friday night US time) has been announced:
Miu Watanabe & Shoko Nakajima vs. Suzume & Arisu Endo
Miyu Yamashita vs. Pom Harajuku
Yuka Sakazaki vs. Raku
Rika Tatsumi & Neko Haruna vs. Nao Kakuta & Hikari Noa
Maki Itoh & Moka Miyamoto vs. Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu
Mizuki vs. Hyper Misao & Yuki Aino in a 3-way
Kaya Toribami is off this event and 9/4 at Nagoya Congress Center due to scheduling issues. Status is unknown for 9/3 (Narimasu Act Hall, Tokyo) and currently is not on the 8/28 (Korakuen Hall) card.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 8/21/22 Results

With the Tokyo Princess Cup now behind us, Tokyo Joshi Pro is filling the time between that and the upcoming Fall 2022 tour with a couple of standalone events, beginning today with a “TJPW PERFECTION” doubleheader. This will be a standard house show that may start the build to the WRESTLE PRINCESS 3 main event in October when Shoko Nakajima will again defend the Princess Of Princess Championship against Yuka Sakazaki. Maki Itoh is also back from the US for this event, as is Mizuki from an overseas event.

Today’s event will be held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. Based on the card and time limits today’s event likely will run a little under 2 hours, so you’re not pulling an all-nighter in the US to watch. (it wound up running about 1 hour, 45 minutes)

Today’s lineup:

Hyper Misao vs. Moka Miyamoto

Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh vs. Yuki Aino & Raku

The paid attendance will be announced after the event, while the crowd is still filing in it looks smaller than usual for a Sunday matinee. Maybe 200 although as low as 175 wouldn’t surprise me.

The matches should begin in about 15 minutes.

During her opening announcements Sayuri Namba brings out Hikari Noa. It sounds like Noa will soon be headed to England to compete in Pro Wrestling EVE, possibly challenging International Princess Champion Alex Windsor for the title. (Update: That will happen on 9/1) Also…Max The Impaler returns on 10/9 at WRESTLE PRINCESS 3…

Tokyo Joshi Pro Tokyo Princess Cup Finals Results (8/14/22)

Tokyo Joshi Pro wraps up the 9th Tokyo Princess Cup Tournament today with the Finals, and among other things a likely chance at Princess Of Princess Champion Shoko Nakajima for the title is on the line. The favorite is Yuka Sakazaki, who will be hoping to get another shot at Nakajima to try and join Miyu Yamashita as 3-time champions, but her opponent is the petite powerhouse Miu Watanabe, who upset Yamashita yesterday to earn her spot in the finals and move one upset away from her first title opportunity. Who will be the strongest-The Magical Girl or Up Up Girl?

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. You can also watch the first 30 minutes FOR FREE on YouTube. Because there is a special fan event planned immediately after the show, I expect today’s event to be on the short side at right about 2 hours. So if you’re staying up late to watch New Japan or Pro Wrestling NOAH, you won’t miss anything.

Today’s lineup:
Nao Kakuta vs. Moka Miyamoto
Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu vs. Hyper Misao & Kaya Toribami
Miyu Yamashita, Suzume & Neko Haruna vs. Mizuki, Raku & Pom Harajuku
Saki Akai & Yuki Arai vs. Hikari Noa & Arisu Endo
Shoko Nakajima & Rika Tatsumi vs. Yuki Aino & Max The Impaler
Tokyo Princess Cup Finals: Yuka Sakazaki vs. Miu Watanabe
Once again Maki Itoh will be absent due to competing in the US for Game Changer Wrestling this weekend.

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 10:30 PM ET/7:30 PM PT. The live stream will begin at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT. The first match should begin around 10:45 PM ET/7:45 PM PT.

We are LIVE from Korakuen hall in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Kagehiro Osano & Sayoko Mita.

Ring announcer/MC Sayuri Namba is beginning her pre-event introduction and announcements. The matches should begin in about 15 minutes.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Looks like the same setup as yesterday, smaller capacity than normal so anticipating around 450 again.

There’s a new Up Up Girl! Shino is introduced as a new member after their performance. No opening recap video, which surprised me given it’s a Korakuen event. But then again, they’re in a time limit of sort s because the post-event special event is scheduled for in just over 2 hours.

Match 1: Nao Kakuta vs. Moka Miyamoto. 15 minute time limit
Result: Nao Kakuta beat Moka Miyamoto

Match 2: Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu vs. Hyper Misao & Kaya Toribami. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu beat Hyper Misao & Kaya Toribami. Kiryu pinned Toribami after a spinebuster.

Match 3: Miyu Yamashita, Suzume & Neko Haruna vs. Mizuki, Raku & Pom Harajuku. 20 minute time limit
Result; Miyu Yamashita, Suzume & Neko Haruna beat Mizuki, Raku & Pom Harajuku. Yamashita pinned Harajuku after Attitude Adjustment.

Match 4: Saki Akai & Yuki Arai vs. Hikari Noa & Arisu Endo. 20 minute time limit
Result: Saki Akai & Yuki Arai beat Hikari Noa & Arisu Endo. Arai pinned Endo after Finally.

Mizuki joins commentary.

Match 5: Shoko Nakajima & Rika Tatsumi vs. Yuki Aino & Max The Impaler. 20 minute time limit
Result: Shoko Nakajima & Rika Tatsumi beat Yuki AIno & Max The Impaler. Nakajima pinned Aino after a diving senton.

Miyu Yamashita replaces Mizuki on commentary.

Main Event: Tokyo Princess Cup Finals: Yuka Sakazaki vs. Miu Watanabe. No time limit
Result: Yuka Sakazaki beat Miu Watanabe to win the tournament. It’s the first time Sakazaki has won the Cup. As a result, Sakazaki likely will face Princess Of Princess Champion Shoko Nakajima for the title at an upcoming event, likely WRESTLE PRINCESS 3 in October. Excellent match.

The next event is “TJPW PERFECTION”, a doubleheader beginning on 8/21 at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin on 8/20 at 11:20 PM ET/8:30 PM PT.

Post-Show Update: The announced paid attendance was 551. Also, Maki Itoh lost to Billie Starks in Game Changer Wrestling last night in the US. The event can be watched on demand FOR FREE on YouTube.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Tokyo Princess Cup Semifinals Results (8/13/22)

Tokyo Joshi Pro returns to Tokyo this weekend to wrap up the 9th Tokyo Princess Cup. The first half of the doubleheader is today with the Semifinals, consisting of two veterans looking to earn another shot at Shoko Nakajima with tournament victories, and two younger opponents each looking for two more big upsets and their first tournament triumph. The undercard features the TJPW debut of massive US indy wrestler Max The Impaler (poor Pom Harajuku, she might just get killed today) and some AA Eye Candy as Yuki Arai & Saki Akai will be in tag team action.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese and English. And if you’re looking to pass the time until the start, last weekend’s Yuki Kamifuku Hometown Event is now available on demand. I anticipate today’s event having around a 2 1/2 hour runtime. (It can’t really go past 3 hours because there is a Ganbare Pro event coming up shortly after this one finishes)

Maki Itoh will miss this weekend’s events due to being in the US for an appearance in Game Changer Wrestling, while Yuki Aino is expected to return today after missing several events due to a leg injury.

Today’s lineup:
Shoko Nakajima vs. Kaya Toribami
Hikari Noa & Nao Kakuta vs. Yuki Aino & Raku
Rika Tatsumi vs. Mizuki & Hyper Misao in a 3-way
Saki Akai, Yuki Arai & Moka Miyamoto vs. Yuki Kamifuku, Mahiro Kiryu & Neko Haruna
Arisu Endo vs. Mei Suruga
Max The Impaler vs. Pom Harajuku
Tokyo Princess Cup Semifinals:
Miyu Yamashita vs. Miu Watanabe
Yuka Sakazaki vs. Suzume

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 10:30 PM ET/7:30 PM PT. The live stream will begin at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT. The first match should begin around 10:50 PM ET/7:50 PM PT.

We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in TOkyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Kagehiro Osano & Sayoko Mita. There is no English commentary despite WRESTLE UNIVERSE advertising it on their website.
The paid attendance will be announced after the event but it is a reduced capacity setup on the opposite-hard camera side. That probably means a top crowd of 450-500.

The first match should begin in about 20 minutes (as of 10:30 PM ET).

After the opening announcements & Up Up Girls performance, a video recap of the Tokyo Princess Cup so far is shown before the opening card rundown.

Result: Mei Suruga beat Arisu Endo by submission

Match 4: Hyper Misao vs. Mizuki & Rika Tatsumi in a 3-way. 20 minute time limit
Result: Rika Tatsumi beat Hyper Misao & Mizuki in a 3-way by pinning Misao.

Result Yuki Kamifuku, Mahiro Kiryu & Neko Haruna beat Saki Akai, Yuki Arai & Moka Miyamoto. Kiryu pinned Arai after a spinebuster. Afterwards, Kiryu with microphone. Challenge issued for the Princess Tag Team Championship-Kiryu & Kamifuku, seemingly accepted by Akai. More to come post-event.

Result; Yuka Sakazaki beat Suzumu. As a result, Sakazaki advances to the Finals.

Main Event: Tokyo Princess Cup Semifinals: Miyu Yamashita vs. Miu Watanabe. No time limit
Result: Miu Watanabe beat Miyu Yamashita. As a result, Watanabe advances to the Finals. UPSET ALERT!
The Final will be Sakazaki vs. Watanabe. Will The Magical Girl get her chance to join Yamashita as 3-time Princess Of Princess Champions or will the Up Up Girl idol break through with one final upset?

The Final is tomorrow. The full card will be announced shortly. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 10:30 PM ET/7:30 PM PT.

UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 444.
Today’s card has only 6 matches and will be a shorter event due to a special event being held immediately after the show.

DDT Injury/Illness News (Updated 8/5)

DDT has become the latest promotion to take another big hit from the coronavirus as they have lost 3 big names for now-HARASHIMA, Jun Akiyama and Tetsuya Endo. HARASHIMA & Endo both tested positive after being evaluated for the ever-vague “poor physical condition”. Akiyama is pending test results after a fever. All 3 are off this weekend’s events and out until at least after 8/11’s event (Akiyama is tentative for that event). Hopefully they will be back in time for WRESTLE PETER PAN on 8/20, when Endo faces KO-D Openweight Champion Kazusada Higuchi for the title at DDT’s biggest event of the year.

In other injury news, Tokyo Joshi Pro announced that Yuki Aino is off this weekend’s event due to a leg injury, which caused her to miss this past weekend’s events. Aino is scheduled to return for the Korakuen Hall doubleheader on 8/13 & 8/14. Maki Itoh will miss those events due to returning to the US for appearances in Game Changer Wrestling.

UPDATE: TJPW will be shorthanded again in September as overseas independent Prestige Wrestling has announced Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh participation for 9/3, including Yamashita vs. Trish Adora. That means both would miss TJPW events on 9/2 and 9/3 but should not miss the Women-only 8/27 event (free but only women can attend).

8/5 UPDATE: Akiyama tested positive for the coronavirus, as has Toru Owashi and now Daisuke Sasaki has a fever. All out indefinitely.
