Injury Report: TJPW Body Count Rising Again

Tokyo Joshi Pro is going through another tough injury absence stretch. Suzume missed an event lat week but should be back this weekend, however they have announced two new absences-Neko Haruna (again) & Haru Kazashiro. Haruna recently just returned from injury but now is out due to a knee injury. Kazashiro is out due to coronavirus. Both will miss the two events this weekend. Their status beyond that is mot yet known but both should be considered questionable for the upcoming events on 9/15 and 9/17.

More as it becomes available.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 7/29/23 Results (Updated)

Tokyo Joshi Pro continues the Tokyo Princess Cup Tournament today with the Quarterfinals. All 4 matches are on tap today with a random draw afterwards to determine the Semifinals pairings (it may not be as the bracket suggests). The tournament matches today are Miyu Yamashita vs. Moka Miyamoto, Rika Tatsumi vs. Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Kamifuku vs. Miu Watanabe and Yuki Arai vs. Arisu Endo. On paper Yamashita and the Tatsumi-Nakajima winner seem to be the favorites left but anything is possible. 3 non-tournament matches open the event and feature most of the rest of the roster. A special autograph and fan photo event at a separate location in Tokyo follows the event.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese and English. The broadcast should begin 10-15 minutes before the scheduled event start time. Due to the after-event party they’ll be on a slightly strict time limit although the event time is subject to change, even though there is no time limit for the tournament matches-that means nonetheless the event’s total runtime probably will not be more than 2 1/2 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Juria Nagano & Kaya Toribami vs. Wakana Uehara & HIMAWARI
Hyper Misao, Nao Kakuta & Yuki Aino vs. Mahiro Kiryu, Pom Harajuku & Neko Haruna
Mizuki, Toga, Haru Kazashiro & Runa Okubo vs. Hikari Noa, Raku, Suzume & Shino Suzuki
Tokyo Princess Cup Quarterfinals:

Miu Watanabe vs. Yuki Kamifuku
Rika Tatsumi vs. Shoko Nakajima
Miyu Yamashita vs. Moka Miyamoto

Updates below will begin at 7 PM PT/10 PM ET. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM PT/10:30 PM ET.

7 PM PT UPDATE: The stream has begun. According to the page on WRESTLE UNIVERSE, the match order has changed slightly from above-Tatsumi vs. Nakajima apparently will be the main event while Yamashita-Miyamoto will be Match 6. The first 5 matches otherwise should be in order as listed above.

7:22 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now…
We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Kagehiro Osano & Sayoko Mita. If you’re watching in English, your hosts are Chris Brookes, Baliyan Akki & Ash.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. The crowd is still filing in but it’s reduced capacity on the opposite hard-camera side where the commentary setups are. Sellouts lately have been close to 1500 but with this setup they’ll probably top out closer to 1000 and normally they do in the 500s-600s at Korakuen recently. (From the opening shots it’s early but definitely on the low side. Maybe they’ll get to around 500) (Update: The announced paid attendance was 437)

The matches should begin in 15-20 minutes.

During opening announcements two new trainees are introduced. Didn’t get names but one looked to be a teenager while the second one was from Australia based on her slow and uncertain Japanese…props for trying and managing to get through her intro in Japanese! (Updates: their tentative ring names are Chika & Kira, respectively)

Then announced for an event later this year in Nagoya is…OMG, the match I hoped would maybe happen before Saki Akai retires later this year…Saki Akai vs. Yuki Arai! AA Eye Candy faces each other for the first, last and only time, at least in singles action. Could this be Saki passing the torch to Yuki? FEELS!!! (Update: That match will happen on 9/18 in Nagoya)

The matches begin at 7:48 PM PT.

Match 1: Juria Nagano & Kaya Toribami vs. Wakana Uehara & HIMAWARI. 20 minute time limit
Result: Juria Nagano & Kaya Toribami beat Wakana Uehara & HIMAWARI. Nagano pinned HIMAWARI after a spinning head kick.

Match 2: Hyper Misao, Nao Kakuta & Yuki Aino vs. Mahiro Kiryu, Pom Harajuku & Neko Haruna. 20 minute time limit
Result: Hyper Misao, Nao Kakuta & Yuki Aino beat Mahiro Kiryu, Pom Harajuku & Neko Haruna. Misao pinned Kiryu with La Magistral. This ended very quickly, just a couple minutes. Comedy promos afterwards. Which led to…
Match 2 (Again): Hyper Misao, Nao Kakuta & Yuki Aino vs. Mahiro Kiryu, Pom Harajuku & Neko Haruna. 20 minute time limit
Result: Hyper Misao, Nao Kakuta & Yuki Aino beat Mahiro Kiryu, Pom Harjauku & Neko Haruna. Kakuta beat Harajuku with a combination toe hold/guillotine choke.

Match 3: Mizuki, Toga, Haru Kazashiro & Runa Okubo vs. Hikari Noa, Raku, Suzume & Shino Suzuki. 20 minute time limit
Result: Hikari Noa, Raku, Suzume & Shino Suzuki beat Mizuki, Toga, Haru Kazashiro & Runa Okubo. Noa pinned Toga with a blizzard suplex hold.

Quick break for ring repairs/maintenance.

Match 4: Tokyo Princess Cup Quarterfinals: Yuki Arai vs. Arisu Endo. No time limit
Result: Yuki Arai beat Arisu Endo. As a result, Arai advances to the Semifinals. Halfway there! Now the wait for the rest of the matches and the random draw afterwards to find out who’s next.

Match 5: Tokyo Princess Cup Quarterfinals: Miu Watanabe vs. Yuki Kamifuku. No time limit
Result: Yuki Kamifuku beat Miu Watanabe. As a result, Kamifuku advances to the Semifinals. She’s really turning heel based on her antics.

Match 6: Tokyo Princess Cup Quarterfinals: Miyu Yamashita vs. Moka Miyamoto. No time limit
Result: Miyu Yamashita beat Moka Miyamoto. As a result, Yamashita advances to the Semifinals. One step closer to finally taking that Princess Of Princess Championship away from Mizuki.

Main Event: Tokyo Princess Cup Quarterfinals: Rika Tatsumi vs. Shoko Nakajima. No time limit
Result: Rika Tatsumi beat Shoko Nakajima by submission. As a result, Tatsumi advances to the Semifinals.

The Semfinalists come out. It sounds like the draw will happen at a later time on TJPW’s official YouTube channel. Tatsumi finishes the post-main event promo to end the event.

The Semifinals will be on 8/12.

The next event is 8/5 at Duo CEREZO in Niigata for a Shoko Nakajima hometown event, featuring Yuki Arai participation and Aja Kong vs. Super Sasadango Machine (DDT). There will be no live broadcast.

UPDATE: The Semifinal draw was held at the post-event party. The matches will be Arai vs. Yamashita & Tatsumi vs. Kamifuku.

Tokyo Joshi Pro 7/27/23 Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro held a special summer athletic competition today, a break from traditional wrestling for a variety of unusual and comedy-themed activities with everyone divided into two teams for the unique event.

Today’s event was held at Sugamiku Resort Pleasure Forest in Kanagawa and is available on demand as a PPV on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. The event can be purchased until 8/2 and is available for 3500 Japanese yen (around $26) for non-monthly subscribers and 2800 yen (around $20) for monthly paying subscribers. It may be available to all paying subscribers at a later date (probably October at the earliest).

This was a closed event with no fans in attendance. The format was 5 events with 1 point for the winners, most points at the end wins.

Match 1: In a Falls Count Anywhere match, Rika Tatsumi, Hikari Noa & Nao Kakuta (Red Team) beat Pom Harajuku, Suzume & Yuki Arai (White Team). Tatsumi pinned Harajuku after Twist Of Fate.

Match 2: In a Spider Climbing Competition, where apparently the most combined distance climbed wins (and it was teams simultaneous and fighting each other), Mizuki, Miu Watanabe & Kaya Toribami (White Team) beat Yuki Aino, Moka Miyamoto & Arisu Endo 31.4 meters-22.9 meters.

Match 3: In a Steel Maze Battle, a series of 3 single battles where the first to escape a multi-level structure won, Raku, Nao Kakuta & Hyper Misao (Red Team) beat Suzume, Mahiro Kiryu & Yuki Kamifuku (White Team) 2-1.

Match 4: In a Sumo Pushing competition held in a small cage high above the ground (everyone was tethered to bungee cords and had to walk across suspension bridges to reach the structure), Red Team beat White Team 2-1. Nao Kakuta (Red) beat Pin Harajuku (White), Miu Watanabe (White) beat Moka Miyamoto (Red), Raku (Red) beat Yuka Sakazaki (White).

Main Event: In a Cavalry Deathmatch, pitting the entire teams against one another and the first to claim the opponent’s leader’s headband was the winner, White Team beat Red Team. The leaders were Yuki Arai & Moka Miyamoto, Arai won by claiming Miyamoto’s headband. White got 1 million points for winning and won the competition 1 million-3.

As a reward for winning, the White team got to enjoy a luxurious BBQ and party afterwards. And Arai being the big winner at the end made me very happy of course.

The next event is Saturday at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo for the Tokyo Princess Cup Quarterfinals. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin Friday at 7:30 PM PT/10:30 PM ET. Live results will be posted here.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 7/22/23 Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro continues the Tokyo Princess Cup today, wrapping up Round 1 with the last 2 matches before the Quarterfinals. The first match will be an underdog pairing as Arisu Endo faces Mahiro Kiryu, then the second match has Yuki Arai facing Hikari Noa. The winners will meet in the Quarterfinals. The rest of the card has 5 matches planned instead of the usual 4 to get almost everyone else onto the event.

Today’s event will be held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. The extra match and only one being a single match, plus the tournament matches, should make this a longer event than the unusually short tournament events so far. I anticipate this one being around the standard house show runtime of 2 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Mizuki vs. Neko Haruna & Shino Suzuki in a 3-way
Raku & Pom Harajuku vs. Suzume & Runa Okubo
Hyper Misao & Kaya Toribami vs. Nao Kakuta & Haru Kazashiro
Yuki Aino vs. Toga
Rika Tatsumi, Miu Watanabe, Moka Miyamoto & HIMAWARI vs. Miyu Yamashita, Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Kamifuku & Walana Uehara
Tokyo Princess Cup Round 1:

The matches should begin in about 10-15 minutes.

The matches begin at 8:42 PM PT.

Match 1: Yuki Aino vs. Toga. 15 minute time limit

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling “Tokyo Princess Cup” Results (7/15/23)

Tokyo Joshi Pro kicks off their annual Tokyo Princess Cup Tournament today, their yearly singles tournament to determine the top wrestler in the promotion. Not everyone will participate this year as the field is 16, with the most notable omission being Maki Itoh because the Finals would conflict with overseas participation that day. The first round will be spread over 3 consecutive days of events with two tournament matches today-first, and this one might decide it all, Miyu Yamashita faces Mizuki and the second match will be Hyper Misao vs. Moka Miyamoto. Non-tournament matches make up the rest of the event.

Today’s event will be held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. I’m not sure what the time limit will be for the tournament matches but with 6 matches and otherwise all tag matches I anticipate this event will have a normal house show runtime of about 2 hours.

Today’s lineup (match order TBA…Update: This wound up being the actual match order):
Wakana Uehara & HIMAWARI vs. Haru Kazashiro & Runa Okubo
Kaya Toribami vs. Shino Suzuki
Yuki Kamifuki, Mahiro Kiryu & Toga vs. Hikari Noa, Nao Kakuta & Arisu Endo
Rika Tatsumi, Miu Watanabe, Neko Haruna & Suzume vs. Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku
Tokyo Princess Cup Round 1:
Hyper Misao vs. Moka Miyamoto
Miyu Yamashita vs. Mizuki

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 8:30 PM PT/11:30 PM ET.

8:28 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now…

We are LIVE from Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo, Japan. There is no commentary.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Didn’t get a good long initial look before the lights were turned down and opening announcements began but it looks so far like an average crowd for the venue, so I’m initially estimating 200-225. The venue’s max capacity is about 500. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 219)

The matches should begin in about 15 minutes.

The matches begin at 8:40 PM PT. Also, no time limit for the tournament matches. As is now often the case at this venue, hard-camera only view today.

Match 1: Wakana Uehara & HIMAWARI vs. Haru Kazashiro & Runa Okubo. 20 minute time limit
Result: Wakana Uehara & HIMAWARI beat Haru Kazashiro & Runa Okubo. Uehara beat Kazashiro with a sleeper hold.

Match 2: Kaya Toribami vs. Shino Suzuki. 15 minute time limit
Result: Kaya Toribami beat Shino Suzuki by submission

Match 3: Yuki Kamifuki, Mahiro Kiryu & Toga vs. Hikari Noa, Nao Kakuta & Arisu Endo. 20 minute time limit
Result: Hikari Noa, Nao Kakuta & Arisu Endo beat Yuki Kamifuku, Mahiro Kiryu & Toga. Noa pinned Toga.

Match 4: Rika Tatsumi, Miu Watanabe, Neko Haruna & Suzume vs. Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku. 20 minute time limit
Match 4: Rika Tatsumi, Miu Waanabe, Neko Haruna & Suzume beat Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku. Tatsumi pinned Harajuku.

Match 5: Tokyo Princess Cup Round 1: Hyper Misao vs. Moka Miyamoto. No time limit
Result: Moka Miyamoto beat Hyper Misao. As a result, Miyamoto advances to the Quarterfinals and will face the Miyu Yamashita-Mizuki winner on 7/29.

Main Event: Tokyo Princess Cup Round 1: Miyu Yamashita vs. Mizuki. No time limit
Result: Miyu Yamashita beat Mizuki. As a result, Yamashita advances to the Quarterfinals and will face Moka Miyamoto on 7/29 and the eventual tournament winner is now all but guaranteed to get to face Mizuki for the Princess Of Princess Championship in the future. And hopefully it’ll be Yamashita and a repeat of today which for me would mean HAPPY HAPPY.

Unusually fast event tonight, the matches didn’t even go 90 minutes total and Yamashita kept the post-main event promo very short, saying she was going to win it all and that’s it.

The next event is tomorrow. Tomorrow’s tournament matches are scheduled to be Raku vs. Rika Tatsumi and Suzume vs. Shoko Nakajima with the rest of the card announced near-last-minute. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 8:30 PM PT/11:30 PM ET. Live results are scheduled.

Tokyo Joshi Pro 7/8/23 Results

SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23, Tokyo Joshi Pro’s annual summer blowout event, is now in the books.

Today’s event was held at Ota City General Gym in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. Japanese voice actress Rika Matsumoto, part of the case of the Japanese version of the iconic “Pokemon” anime (I believe she voiced Brock), was a special guest on commentary. You can also watch a pre-show public signing ceremony that began one hour before the event and the first match FOR FREE on YouTube.

The announced paid attendance was 1222. While probably only about half or close to half capacity depending on the layout, they actually sold out of all but the cheapest seats so this was still a strong number.

Match 1: Juria Nagano Return Match: Suzume & Arisu Endo beat Moka Miyamoto & Juria Nagano. Endo beat Nagano with a camel clutch. This was Nagano’s first match in roughly 6 months (she was out due to a broken finger).

Match 2: Mahiro Kiryu, Neko Haruna, HIMAWARI & Shino Suzuki beat Kaya Toribami, Toga, Haru Kazashiro & Runa Okubo. HIMAWARI beat Kazashiro with a single leg Boston Crab. This was Haruna’s first match in roughly 2 months due to injury.

Match 3: Ryo Mizunami (Independent/Freelancer) & Nao Kakuta beat Yuki Kamifuku & Asuka (Veny). Kakuta pinned Kamifuku after Shiden Kai.

Match 4: DEFY Women’s Champion Vertvixen beat Hikari Noa to retain the title. V6 for Vertvixen.

Match 5: Shoko Nakajima & Hyper Misao beat Max The Impaler & Pom Harajuku and Aja Kong (OZ Academy) & Raku in a 3-way when Nakajima pinned Harajuku. Probably not a popular result with the outside-Japan internet fanbase who absolutely loves Wasteland Pom Party.

Match 6: Nyla Rose (All Elite Wrestling) beat Miu Watanabe. And yes, it appears Watanabe managed to EPIC GIANT SWING Rose during the match! This originally was to have been Rose vs. Yuka Sakazaki but plans had to be changed due to a Sakazaki injury.

Match 7: Pro Wrestling EVE Champion Miyu Yamashita beat Sawyer Wreck to retain the title. V7 for Yamashita. This match was held under Spirit Of EVE Rules, which meant no countouts and failure to display sufficient fighting spirit at the referee’s discretion meant a wrestler would be DQ’d.

Match 8: Saki-sama (Saki Akai) & May Saint-Michel (Mei Suruga) beat Yuki Arai & Wakana Uehara. Saki-sama pinned Uehara after Academy Awards. This is the first-and perhaps will be the only-time that Saki & Arai, former Princess Tag Team Champions, will face each other as opponents due to Saki retiring later this year, but we’ll see.

Match 9: International Princess Champion Rika Tatsumi beat Yuki Aino to retain the title. V4 for Tatsumi.

Main Event: Princess Of Princess Champion Mizuki beat Maki Itoh to retain the title. V3 for Mizuki. Once again Itoh is denied the one prize that has eluded her to this date in TJPW. Admittedly the only outcome that would’ve satisfied me here would have been a draw but I guess UNHAPPY UNHAPPY is the lesser of two evils. Next up: Almost certainly the Tokyo Princess Cup winner unless it’s Mizuki. Tentatively put that match down for WRESTLE PRINCESS 4 on 10/8 at Tama Mirai Messe in Tokyo.

The next event is the Tokyo Princess Cup Tournament, the promotion’s annual singles tournament, a single-elimination format with 16 participants this year, beginning Saturday at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo. The first round will be held over 3 straight days of events there. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin Friday at 8:30 PM PT/11:30 PM ET. Live results are scheduled.

The promotion has also announced a Summer Athletic Park Match PPV event will be held on 7/27 at Lake Sagami Pleasure Forest in Tokyo. 18 wrestlers are scheduled to participate including Yuki Arai & ring announcer Sayuri Namba, Yuka Sakazaki is listed as participating but should be considered questionable due to injury. Everyone will be divided into 2 teams for a best-of-5 Street Pro Wrestling Showdown with a special prize for the winning team. This will be available only as a PPV on WRESTLE UNIVERSE with a separate purchase required. The PPV can be pre-ordered now for 2800 yen (around $19) for paying subscribers and 3500 yen (around $25) for non-subscribers. The PPV will be available to buy until 8/2 at 4 AM PT/7 AM ET and can then be watched on demand until 10/30 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET. On or after 11/1 it may be available to all WRESTLE UNIVERSE paying subscribers. There will be Japanese commentary for this event. Special support ticket packages with specific wrestler goods/rewards are also available for purchase but this may be Japan-only.

TJPW News: Yet Another 7/8 Change

Tokyo Joshi Pro has made yet another change to this weekend’s SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ’23 card, but again it’s for an existing match and not a bad change-at the request of Miyu Yamashita, who just returned from a successful title defense in England, her match against Sawyer Wreck will now be for the Pro Wrestling EVE Championship under Spirit Of EVE rules. That means 30 minute time limit, no countouts and not displaying enough fighting spirit in the referee’s view results in being DQ’d. This will be the 7th defense of the title for Yamashita. It makes a total of 4 title matches on the event between TJPW and other titles. (And for those wondering, still no word on when the vacant Princess Tag Team Championship situation will be resolved)
