Tokyo Joshi Pro continues the Tokyo Princess Cup Tournament today with the Quarterfinals. All 4 matches are on tap today with a random draw afterwards to determine the Semifinals pairings (it may not be as the bracket suggests). The tournament matches today are Miyu Yamashita vs. Moka Miyamoto, Rika Tatsumi vs. Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Kamifuku vs. Miu Watanabe and Yuki Arai vs. Arisu Endo. On paper Yamashita and the Tatsumi-Nakajima winner seem to be the favorites left but anything is possible. 3 non-tournament matches open the event and feature most of the rest of the roster. A special autograph and fan photo event at a separate location in Tokyo follows the event.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese and English. The broadcast should begin 10-15 minutes before the scheduled event start time. Due to the after-event party they’ll be on a slightly strict time limit although the event time is subject to change, even though there is no time limit for the tournament matches-that means nonetheless the event’s total runtime probably will not be more than 2 1/2 hours.

Sellouts lately have been close to 1500 but with this setup they’ll probably top out closer to 1000 and normally they do in the 500s-600s at Korakuen recently. During opening announcements two new trainees are introduced. Didn’t get names but one looked to be a teenager while the second one was from Australia based on her slow and uncertain Japanese…props for trying and managing to get through her intro in Japanese! (Updates: their tentative ring names are Chika & Kira, respectively)

Then announced for an event later this year in Nagoya is…OMG, the match I hoped would maybe happen before Saki Akai retires later this year…Saki Akai vs. Yuki Arai! AA Eye Candy faces each other for the first, last and only time, at least in singles action. Could this be Saki passing the torch to Yuki? FEELS!!! (Update: That match will happen on 9/18 in Nagoya)

Result: Yuki Kamifuku beat Miu Watanabe. As a result, Kamifuku advances to the Semifinals. She’s really turning heel based on her antics.

Match 6: Tokyo Princess Cup Quarterfinals: Miyu Yamashita vs. Moka Miyamoto. No time limit
Result: Miyu Yamashita beat Moka Miyamoto. As a result, Yamashita advances to the Semifinals. One step closer to finally taking that Princess Of Princess Championship away from Mizuki.

Main Event: Tokyo Princess Cup Quarterfinals: Rika Tatsumi vs. Shoko Nakajima. No time limit
Result: Rika Tatsumi beat Shoko Nakajima by submission. As a result, Tatsumi advances to the Semifinals.

The Semfinalists come out. It sounds like the draw will happen at a later time on TJPW’s official YouTube channel. Tatsumi finishes the post-main event promo to end the event.

The next event is 8/5 at Duo CEREZO in Niigata for a Shoko Nakajima hometown event, featuring Yuki Arai participation and Aja Kong vs. Super Sasadango Machine (DDT). There will be no live broadcast.

UPDATE: The Semifinal draw was held at the post-event party. The matches will be Arai vs. Yamashita & Tatsumi vs. Kamifuku.

Tokyo Joshi Pro continues the Tokyo Princess Cup today, wrapping up Round 1 with the last 2 matches before the Quarterfinals. The first match will be an underdog pairing as Arisu Endo faces Mahiro Kiryu, then the second match has Yuki Arai facing Hikari Noa. The winners will meet in the Quarterfinals. The rest of the card has 5 matches planned instead of the usual 4 to get almost everyone else onto the event.

Today’s event will be held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. The extra match and only one being a single match, plus the tournament matches, should make this a longer event than the unusually short tournament events so far. I anticipate this one being around the standard house show runtime of 2 hours.

Today’s event was held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 202.

Match 1: Suzume beat Haru Kazashiro.

Match 2: Raku & Pom Harajuku beat Hyper Misao & Shino Suzuki. Raku pinned Suzuki after Doctor Yellow.

Yesterday’s event went a bit faster than I predicted so if that happens again today, the total running time will be around 1 hour 45 minutes, good if you plan to tune in to New Japan’s event starting just before this one ends.

Tokyo Joshi Pro kicks off their annual Tokyo Princess Cup Tournament today, their yearly singles tournament to determine the top wrestler in the promotion. Not everyone will participate this year as the field is 16, with the most notable omission being Maki Itoh because the Finals would conflict with overseas participation that day. The first round will be spread over 3 consecutive days of events with two tournament matches today-first, and this one might decide it all, Miyu Yamashita faces Mizuki and the second match will be Hyper Misao vs. Moka Miyamoto. Non-tournament matches make up the rest of the event.

Today’s event will be held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. I’m not sure what the time limit will be for the tournament matches but with 6 matches and otherwise all tag matches I anticipate this event will have a normal house show runtime of about 2 hours.

And hopefully it’ll be Yamashita and a repeat of today which for me would mean HAPPY HAPPY.

Unusually fast event tonight, the matches didn’t even go 90 minutes total and Yamashita kept the post-main event promo very short, saying she was going to win it all and that’s it.
