Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling “Bright Eyes” LIVE Results (11/9/24)

Tokyo Joshi Pro returns to the US today (it’s a Sunday morning breakfast time start in Japan) as part of a tripleheader weekend with DDT and independent promotion DEFY Wrestling, at least those roster members not staying in Japan for another event later today. Most of the matches are crossovers between TJPW and DEFY & other independent wrestlers and there is a title match scheduled as Princess Tag Team Champions Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh defend the titles against Vertvixen & Nicole Matthews.

Today’s event will be held at Historic Washington Hall in Seattle, WA and can be watched LIVE only on Triller/FITE with a Triller+ subscription ($7.99/month or $69.99/year) in English. It WILL NOT be available live or on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There are 6 matches scheduled so this is probably going to be similar to a normal TJPW house show and have a running time of about 2 hours (they can’t go too long because there’s a DDT event later at the same venue).

Today’s lineup:
Rika Tatsumi & Amira vs. Suzume & Arisu Endo
Yuki Kamifuku vs. Wakana Uehara
Moka Miyamoto vs. Rebel Kel
Mizuki vs. Liiza Hall
Miu Watanabe & Shoko Nakajima vs. Yuki Aino & Zara Zakher
Princess Tag Team Champions Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh vs. Vertvixen & Nicole Matthews for the titles

2 PM PT UPDATE; Live updates start now.

Mandatory FBI Warning then…

The event will begin shortly.

Mandatory FBI Warning again a couple minutes in…and now…

We are LIVE from Historic Washington Hall in Seattle, WA. When we go live Miu Watanabe is in the ring and greets the crowd in English and Japanese. She reads a pre-written greeting in English before asking everyone in Japanese and English to help to the “Start!” shout they begin events with. Obviously no Sayuri Namba because of today’s event later on in Japan. So we have to “settle” for who presumably is the regular DEFY ring announcer.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. I didn’t have a chance to look up the venue but despite commentary saying it’s a full house it is not a legit sellout, as there are several empty seats on the stage opposite hard camera. This will give us an idea of what to anticipate the rest of the weekend though. From what I can see and hear I’m guessing it’ll be around 300. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 405)

The matches begin right away. Your hosts are Rich Bocchini & Veda Scott.

Match 1: Rika Tatsumi & Amira vs. Suzume & Arisu Endo. The ring announcer botched the intros and almost introduced Tatsumi as Suzume’s partner instead of Endo. The crowd booed him heavily for this, haha.
Result: Suzume & Arisu Endo beat Rika Tatsumi & Amira. Suzume pinned Amira after Ring A Bell.

Match 2: Yuki Kamifuku vs. Wakana Uehara
Result: Yuki Kamifuku beat Wakana Uehara

Match 3: Moka Miyamoto vs. Rebel Kel
Result: Rebel Kel beat Moka Miyamoto

Match 4: Mizuki vs. Liiza Hall
Result: Mizuki beat Liiza Hall

Match 5: Miu Watanabe & Shoko Nakajima vs. Yuki Aino & Zara Zakher
Result: Yuki Aino & Zara Zakher beat Miu Watanabe & Shoko Nakajima. Zakher pinned Watanabe. That’s TWICE these last few months that Zakher has beaten the Princess Of Princess Champion! With Zakher now on the radar of WWE (her being announced as a WWE ID Prospect got a huge pop from the crowd) can third time be the charm? Next time it’s for the Princess Of Princess Championship.

Main Event: Princess Tag Team Champions Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh vs. Vertvixen & Nicole Matthews for the titles
Result: Princess Tag Team Champions Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh beat Vertvixen & Nicole Matthews to retain the titles. Yamashita pinned Matthews after Skull Kick. V1 for the champs. This was far & away the longest match of the event and then some. The champs closed things out with an English promo.

The next event is tomorrow at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin TONIGHT at 7:30 PM PT/10:30 PM ET.
