DDT Pro Wrestling “Get Alive 2024” LIVE Results (11/23/24)

DDT runs their monthly signature tour-ender event in Tokyo today, Get Alive 2024. There have been big shakeups to the card since yesterday because of the announcement that the KO-D Tag Team Championship, which was to have been defended today, is now VACANT due to a Shunma Katsumata injury that will keep him out for months. No word on plans to crown new champions yet. Instead of Katsumata & MAO defending the titles against Tetsuya Endo & Yuya Koroku, it’s now MAO, Yuki Ueno & To-y vs. Endo, Koroku & Yuki Iino. And earlier today came word that Yusuke Okada is retiring immediately due to the effects of treatment for cancer-he is in remission and doing well but physically is not in a good enough condition to continue wrestling. He will appear today to address fans. As for the event itself, the headliner is a DDT Extreme Championship match where Danshoku Dieno defends against Yuni, originally planned to feature the DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Championship in a double title match but, as is often the case with that 24/7 Iron Man title, plans change. And they changed many times. And they could change yet again. As always the Extreme Championship rules are wacky-there will be a ‘Cinderella Time” period or periods during the match. During those times, if Dieno does any of his usual shenanigans (NSFW stuff), he is DQ’d. When Cinderella Time is not in effect, it’s a No DQ match. Also, Kazuki Hirata is celebrating his birthday with a wacky 1 vs. 6 Handicap Match that will be all about DDT comedy…all you need to know is Yoshihiko is involved so it’s must-see.
Also, after the event is over the full card for ULTIMATE PARTY 2024 on 12/28 at Ryogoku Kokugikan will be announced.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. Raira (?) Ikeda, who appears to be a member of a comedy group, will be a special guest on commentary. There are 2 title matches scheduled out of 7 total but in spite of those I anticipate this being a “normal” Korakuen event with a total running time of around 2 1/2 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Demus & Illusion vs. Munetatsu Nakamura & Kazuma Sumi
Kazuki Hirata vs. Toru Owashi, Takao Soma, Diego, Antonio Honda, Yuki Ishida & Yoshihiko in a handicap match
Jun Akiyama, Shinya Aoki & Keigo Nakamura vs. HARASHIMA, Yukio Naya & Tomomitsu Matsunaga
Akito 15th Anniversary Match: Akito vs. Isami Kodaka
Yuki Ueno, MAO & To-y vs. Yuki Iino, Tetsuya Endo & Yuya Koroku
DDT Extreme Champion Danshoku Dieno vs. Yuni in a “You’re still a Cinderella even climbing the path to Adulthood Deathmatch” for the title. No DQ except during “Cinderella Time”, in that time Dieno is DQ’d if he does any of his usual shenanigans
KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions Daisuke Sasaki, MJ Paul & KANON vs. Chris Brookes, Masa Takanashi & Takeshi Masada for the titles

Updates below will begin at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET. The live stream is scheduled to begin at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET.

6 PM PT UPDATE: The live stream has begun. We should go to the venue in 20-25 minutes.

6:18 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Kagehiro Osano & special guest Layla Ikeda. We will likely be joined later for a time by Satoshi Dairaku.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. The crowd will still be filing in over the next 15-20 minutes but it’s pretty light so far with the usual smaller Korakuen setup. I’m gonna guess on the low side for now with a prediction of 700-750.

The matches should begin in about 20 minutes.

The matches begin at 6:33 PM PT/9:33 PM ET. Your host to start is Satoshi Dairaku. Haruo Murata will return later.

Match 1: Demus & Illusion vs. Munetatsu Nakamura & Kazuma Sumi. 30 minute time limit
Result: Demus & Illusion beat Munetatsu Nakamura & Kazuma Sumi. Demus pinned Sumi.

Match 2: Kazuki Hirata vs. Toru Owashi, Takao Soma, Diego, Antonio Honda, Yuki Ishida & Yoshihiko in a handicap match. 30 minute time limit. At least that was the plan but Hirata laid out Ishida backstage…and apparently won the Iron Man Title back from Yuki Ueno after that recent fishing expedition where he lost it…
Result: Toru Owashi, Takao Soma, Diego, Antonio Honda, Yuki Ishida & Yoshihiko beat Kazuki Hirata, with Yoshihiko pinning Hirata to win the DDT Iron man Heavymetalweight Championship. Yoshihiko becomes (I think) the 1697th Champion. With a little help from Yuki Ueno interfering. Afterwards, Hirata with microphone hilariously still in post-pinfall position. He apparently tried to turn heel for this, his birthday celebration match, but hilariously failed. As Hirata finished his music didn’t play and instead someone wearing a Kabuki mask came out. Things soon back to normal but the mystery man interrupted Hirata’s dancing with quite the impressive breakdancing moves. Not sure who it was but it could be the new guy who will debut on 12/28, apparently against Hirata. I think he’s a musician/entertainer much like Kaisei Takechi.

Quick break for the opening announcements with GM Imabayashi. Shunma Katsumata joins him in the ring. He briefly greets the fans before the announcements, then Sanshiro Takagi is brought out to address the fans. He will have a 30th Anniversary match on 2/3 at Shinjuku Face. He also announces the first match for the event-Toru Owashi & Dump Matsumoto vs. Brahmans Shu & Kei. And then the dates for their next US evnets in Las Vegas, NV-DDT on 4/18 and a DDT/Tokyo Joshi Pro/Game Changer Wrestling joint event on 4/19. This is just before WWE WrestleMania 41 in Vegas. Although it’s only an hour flight away for me I have a trip to Japan coming up around that time. After this Yusuke Okada comes out to greet the fans following his announcing his retirement earlier today as he continues treatment for cancer. He was very emotional and his voice was cracking badly at times because of it. They gave him the customary final announcement send-off and playing of his entrance theme one more time. Reportedly his cancer is in remission so let’s hope that continues and he successfully beats it like others before him managed to. Most of the roster came out to offer well-wishes and give him a nice sendoff, including Saki Akai, who retired last year but remains in DDT in a corporate/backstage role. After this, Katsumata returned to the ring with Kazuma Sumi & Yuni to announce a new music CD from the promotion coming out on 12/28.

And now back to your regularly scheduled DDT with…

Match 3: Jun Akiyama, Shinya Aoki & Keigo Nakamura vs. HARASHIMA, Yukio Naya & Tomomitsu Matsunaga. 30 minute time limit
Result; Jun Akiyama, Shinya Aoki & Keigo Nakamura beat HARASHIMA, Yukio Naya & Tomomitsu Matsunaga. Aoki pinned Matsunaga. Afterwards, everyone had to try and keep Naya & Akiyama separated. When they left, Aoki with microphone. His voice is so shot it’s hard to understand but I thought he said KO…hold up…Kenoh in the house! He grabbed a chair from the seating and tried to throw it into the ring. Kenoh with microphone. Sounds like he wants a match and from what I could understand from Aoki I heard him say Ryogoku…12/28 match perhaps? Baka Survivor vs. The Fist King?!? Kenoh then brings over fellow NOAH wrestler Yu Owada, who came over with him. And we’ve got an impromptu match! Which led to..
Impromptu Match: Shinya Aoki beat Yu Owada in less than 10 seconds. Kenoh then hit the ring again but Keigo Nakamura got between them with microphone. He attacked Kenoh which triggered a brawl between all 4. Aoki apparently extended the challenge to make it a tag match of himself & Nakamura vs. Kenoh & Owada. We’ll see what happens!

Your host is Haruo Murata once again.

Match 4: Akito 15th Anniversary Match: Akito vs. Isami Kodaka (BASARA). 30 minute time limit
In progress.
