Dragon Gate kicked off the annual Rey De Parejas tournament (a round-robin format tag team event) today with their monthly Tokyo event, which also was the final event for Shun Skywalker in the promotion. He’a not retiring but it’s unclear what future plans are.
Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on DRAGONGATE NETWORK. You can also watch the first match FOR FREE on YouTube.

Match 1: Ryoya Tanaka, Kazuma Kimura & Tristan Moody beat JACKY KAMEI, Riiita & Mochizuki Junior and Madoka Kikuta, Kai & Jason Lee in a 3-way when Tanaka pinned Junior.
Match 2: TBA, revealed at match time to be Yasushi Kanda, beat Jiro Shinbashi in 45 seconds. Comedy squash.
Match 3: Ultimo Dragon, Yuki Yoshioka, Kota Minoura, Punch Tominaga & Ryu Fuda beat Masaaki Mochizuki, Genki Horiguchi, Don Fujii, Takashi & Problem Dragon.Fuda pinned Dragon after a Minoura R-301 (he stole the pin).
Match 4: YAMATO, BxB Hulk, Dragon Kid & Naruki Doi (Independent/Freelancer) beat Kzy, U-T, GuC & @KEY. YAMATO pinned GuC after Gallaria.
Match 5: Rey De Parejas Block B: El Cielo & Luis Mante beat Flamita & Sangre Azteca Jr. Mante pinned Flamita.
Match 6: Rey De Parejas Block A: Strong Machine J & LEONA beat Susumu Yokosuka & KAGETORA. J pinned KAGETORA.
Match 7: Shun Skywalker Dragon Gate Final Match: Shun Skywalker beat Homare.
Main Event: Rey De Parejas Block A: Hyo & Gianni Valetta beat ISHIN & Yoshiki Kato. Valetta pinned ISHIN after a King Kong kneedrop.
The next event is Saturday at Atelier Himeji in Hyogo. There will be no live or on demand broadcast.
UPDATE: The next challenger for Open The Brave Gate Champion Ryoya Tanaka was decided today…Ryu Fuda made the challenge but…OVERRULED!!! It was decided that Dragon Kid is next. That match will happen on 9/12 at Ebara Wave Arena Ota (Ota City General Gym). If Tanaka retains, he will be about 2 weeks away from passing Pac for longest title reign to date and it will be a new record 13th defense.
