Tokyo Joshi Pro wraps up the Tokyo Princess Cup today with the Finals. It’s a rather unlikely final and one that has a lot of fans disappointed and unsure about the future, not because it’s Suzume vs. Rika Tatsumi but because it’s the International Princess Champion vs. half of the Princess Tag Team Champions, and the winner goes on to face Yuki Arai for the Princess Of Princess Championship at WRESTLE PRINCESS 7 in October. I think it’s more if Suzume wins and potentially becomes a double champion but to me all signs point to Tatsumi taking the cup. Anyway, we’ll see what happens. As for Arai, she will be facing off against one of her mentors, Hiroyo Matsumoto, in a tag match today as Arai teams with Miyu Yamashita to face Matsumoto & Shoko Nakajima. Today also features the popular Ober Eats duo back together one more time as Yuki Kamifuku & Wakana Uehara team up again Mifu Ashida & Sumire Natsu, the latter making a special appearance today. The lower matches will also see the return of Kira Summer as she’s back from her first wrestling tour of her native Australia, much to the delight of her bestie & partner (at least today) Chika Nanase. Oh, and we also will have STREAMERS!!!
Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese & English. Yuka Okiguchi will be a special guest on commentary and regular UNIVERSE guest (and former SKE48 member & Arai teammate) Marika Tani is also expected to be on commentary at times. There are 8 matches planned with no time limit for the main event but there’s also the usual post-event gathering scheduled so although times for the latter can change, that suggests this will be a “standard” Korakuen event with a running time of about 2 1/2 hours.
