Match 3: Yukio Sakaguchi, Saki Akai & Hideki Okatani beat Yusuke Okada, Rayne Leverkusen & Kazuma Sumi. Okatani pinned Sumi after a double arm suplex. Leverkusen is the niece (I believe) of one of the members of legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden.

Match 4: Yuki (NOT SEXY!) Iino & Dansoku Dieno vs. HARASHIMA & Toru Owashi went to a no contest. Out of control.

Match 5: Yuji Hino & Makoto Oishi beat Kazusada Higuchi & Yuki Ishida. Hino beat Ishida with a King Kong sleeper.

Main Event: Tetsuya Endo, Jun Akiyama & Yuya Koroku beat MAO, Shunma Katsumata & Toui Kojima. Endo pinned Kojima after Burning Star Press.

New Japan continued the Road to WRESTING DONTAKU Tour today with a non-televised house show and more 5/3 developments.

Match 6: Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Ren Narita, El Desperado & Minoru Suzuki beat Tomoaki Honma, Toru Yano, Tomohiro Ishii & Lazuchika Okada. Narita beat Honma with a cobra twist.

Main Event: DOUKI, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Taichi & SANADA beat BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito. Taichi pinned BUSHI after Tensho Cross Phoenix.

The next event is a Hirooki Goto 20th Anniversary event tomorrow at Tsu City Sports Center in Mie. There will be no live broadcast.

The current tour resumes Sunday at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET.

In the 5/3 developing news, Kazuchika Okada has chosen Tomohiro Ishii has one of bis partners for the NEVER 6 Man Tag Team Title match. The other is TBD. I was thinking Hiroshi Tanahashi but his current injury has that being doubtful (Tanahashi suffered a broken rib Saturday and is out for this tour. Status for 5/3 uncertain but he currently is not on the card).

DDT News: 5/3 Card Changes Announced

DDT has announced changes to the 5/3 major event lineup today, and teen phenom fans will be disappointed: Nick Wayne, a hot teen independent star in the US who is about to turn 18 and then debut in All Elite Wrestling, who was to make his Japan debut on 5/3, is now off. Visa issues. Delays mean he won’t get it in time. He was to have teamed with Takeshi Masada to face Yuki Ueno & Muko (?). Vanvert Jacques, 17, is the replacement.

Continuing the build to their 5/3 event, DDT has added Sunday’s DRAMATIC EXPLOSION event to YouTube FOR FREE for a limited time. Check it out below:

Jimmy Jacobs interviews the returning Nick Aldis. He immediately calls out NEW Impact World Champion Steve Maclin.

Match 4: In a handicap match, Frankie Kazarian beat The Good Hands by heating John Skyler.

The Coven promo.

Sami Callihan promo. He plans to destroy The Design.

Match 5: Impact Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry beat Sheldon Jean to retain the title.

Stwve Maclin Changing Of The Guard Ceremony. Everyone was banned from ringside. Maclin came out with camo shirt-wearing security as backup. After he issues an open challenge to any Canadian for the Impact World Championship, Scott D’Amore comes out. He suggests Maclin is ducking Aldis and doesn’t back down, even after Maclin & D’Amore had issues at Rebellion. D’Amore says that at Under Siege, Maclin will defend against PCO. Maclin’s security overwhelms PCO and the beatdown is on. At least until PCO clears them out and it’s on with Maclin until he bails for now, leaving PCO standing tall in the ring as he drives two of the security personnel through a table set up in the corner.

Next week: NEW Impact Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo vs. Taylor Wilde for the title, Masha Slamovich vs. Jordynne Grace and Impact Tag Team Champions Bullet Club (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) vs. The Design (Angels & Kon) in a NON-TITLE match. Interesting seeing Grace as rumors were her contract was up after Rebellion.

New Japan News: Tanahashi Off Next Tour

New Japan just announced that, as probably expected, Hiroshi Tanahashi is off the Road to WRESTLING DONTAKU Tour starting tomorrow. Broken rib suffered Saturday at Capital Collision. No return date set. While not currently on the WRESTLING DONTAKU card, I’d call him doubtful given it’s in 2 weeks and questionable for the next US event on 5/21, when he is scheduled to face Will Ospreay.

More as it becomes available.

AEW Dynamite 4/19/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Pittsburgh, PA, which aired LIVE NATIONWIDE due to live soccer on TBS at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT thus pre-empting the taped west coast airing (simulcast of US men vs. Mexico, which also streamed on HBO Max):
Jungle Boy/Sammy Guevara/Darby Allin/MJF promo opens. This leads to MJF announcing a Four Pillars Tournament between the other 3 where the winner gets an AEW World Title shot at Double Or Nothing. Allin wins a random draw to get tonight’s winner next week.

Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter beat Toni Storm & Ruby Soho. Baker beat Soho with Lockjaw.

Wardlow beat AEW TNT Champion Powerhouse Hobbs to become THE NEW AEW TNT CHAMPION! Arn Anderson was in Wardlow’s corner and helped.

Jay White beat Komander. AEW debut for White. After the match, Tony Khan announced on Twitter that AEW has signed Komander.

Chris Jericho-Adam Cole confrontation ends with Jericho & Daneil Garvia beating down Cole and The Outcasts joining in, leading to Saraya beating Baker repeatedly with a Singapore cane while Cole was handcuffed to the ropes.

The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn beat Angelo Parker, Matt Menard & Jake Hager. Max Caster pinned Parker after Mic Drop. Had JAS won, The Acclaimed would’ve had to join JAS until Double Or Nothing.

Sammy Guevara beat Jungle Boy by countout. MJF interference prevented Jungle Boy from beating the countout. As a result, Guevara will face Darby Allin next week with the winner facing MJF for the title at Double Or Nothing.

The show was a bit better tonight than the last few weeks, but hour 1 was better overall. All the non-wrestling stuff tonight was great.

Next week: Allin-Guevara and AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill vs. Taya Valkyrie for the title. I think this is where The Streak ends.

Saturday on Rampage (bumped from Friday due to NHL Playoffs on TNT) at 10 PM ET/PT: AAA Mega Champion El Hijo de Vikingo vs. Dralistico for the title, Jeff Jarrett/Jay Lethal/FTR vs. Varsity Athletes, Kiera Hogan vs. Julia Hart and Jon Moxley vs. Christopher Daniels.
