Of note: Hakkaku wellness check time. What is that now, 5 Kinboshi just this tournament? They’re not out of it with Hoshoryu now 4-2 and Onosato 3-3, but still…and now it’s just Shishi in the lead. He’s been here before but wasn’t able to hold on in the second half and has only faced lower-rank wrestlers so far. Wakanosho took his first loss today and is in a massive group of 5-1 wrestlers which include Kirishima & Aonishiki. Kirishima’s Yokozuna bid is still alive and Aonishiki is now halfway to Ozeki re-promotion and so far it’s looking really good for his chances.

Of note: No changes atop the leaderboard, but at the top of the rankings Asasuiryu is closing in on a top tier promotion at 5-1. He is hoping to join his real-life brother Asakoryu in the top tier. At the bottom, Tanji was the first Makushita man to come up for the day and his win puts him one away from promotion at 3-1.
Lower tier notes: 24-0 for Asahifuji as he goes to 3-0 in Makushita, as does Mita. But Kiryuko has WITHDRAWN so he is now likely to be demoted unless he can return by Day 9. And barring a miracle the losing streak will reach 41 for Moriurara in Jonokuchi as he fell to 0-3 today. He could clinch demotion on Day 8.
