SUMMER SUN PRINCESS ‘26, Tokyo Joshi Pro’s annual July blowout event, finally happens today. The hype is over and it’s time for Princess Of Princess Champion Yuki Arai to make her toughest title defense yet against the Final Boss of TJPW-Miyu Yamashita, who hasn’t held the title on over 2 years and looks to become the first 5-time champion. Arai has beaten Yamashita by submission before in a tag match so there is hope, but part of me fears her first title reign ends today…elsewhere there of course are 2 other title matches. International Princess Champion Suzume defends against Wakana Uehara, with the Super Big Eater looking to turn all those YouTube calorie hunts into her first singles championship. And the Princess Tag Team Championship is on the line as Miu Watanabe & Rika Tatsumi defend against Shoko Nakajima & Hyper Misao in a match that promises a lot of hijinks. Elsewhere, the Yuki Kamifuku retirement road kicks off as The Casual Beauty has a really fun match, and quite the appropriate partner in the TJPW debut of O-MENZ Kumadori, who joins Kamifuku & Sakura Hattori to face Sanshiro Takagi, Yumehito Imanari & Mahiro Kiryu. The opening match will see the debut of Momo Sato, as the idol-turned-wrestler follows her big brother, DDT’s Daichi Sato, into the ring.
There has been a last-minute change to the card due to Willow Nightingale (All Elite Wrestling) being pulled off the event. Travel issues-her flight to Japan was cancelled and while alternate arrangements have been made it sounds like she won’t make it in time. She was to have faced Mizuki. Chris Brookes (DDT) is the replacement.
Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese & English. Rio Omori of idol group Ma’Scar’Piece will be the guest on Japanese commentary It was previously announced that the event’s expected running time will be 3 hours so no speculation needed.
