AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy beat Swerve Strickland to retain the title.

Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta beat Best Friends & Rocky Romero. Moxley beat Romero with a rear naked choke.

MJF promo interrupted by Adam Cole. This seemed to set up Cole as the next challenger for the AEW Woeld Championship.

In a Texas Tornado Match (no tags, no DQs, all 4 legal at all times), Jungle Boy & Hook beat Preston Vance & Dralistico. Jungle Boy beat Dralistico with Snare Trap.

Konosuke Takeshita beat Damon Abe. Squash.

AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander beat Anna Jay.A.S. to retain the title.

Jay White beat Ricky Starks. Juice Robinson & FTR were banned from ringside but Gunn Club interfered after a ref bump at the end.

AEW Dynamite 5/31/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in San Diego, CA:

Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta beat Lucha Bros & Bandido. Yuta pinned Bandido with a seatbelt hold. Bandido managed to hanging vertical suplex and hold Yuta for ONE FULL MINUTE during the match.

Swerve Strickland beat Trent Beretta & Big Bill in a 3-way by pinning Beretta.

Don Callis has turned Konosuke Takeshita full heel. A noteworthy Kazuchika Okada name drop here.

Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin beat Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona. Allin pinned Kaun after Coffin Drop. Sting returned post-match.

Tony Khan’s next major Collision Announcement was made…See I’m A Punk. Crowd reaction was very loud and, because they were not in Chicago, mostly negative.

AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander beat Nyla Rose to retain the title. Already teasing Taya Valkyrie getting another chance.

Adam Cole & Britt Baker beat Chris Jericho & Saraya. Mixed tag rules meaning only the same sex was legal at all times, no intergender stuff. Cole pinned Jericho after BOOM.

While not as much PPV fallout as I hoped for (only a taped MJF promo again) this was a fine episode. Nothing must-see but nothing must-skip and I was entertained throughout.

Friday on Rampage: All Championship Edition! An AAA Mega Championship 3-way title match (El Hijo Del Vikingo vs. 2 others who I didn’t catch because they sped through announcements), New Japan STRONG Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale vs. Emi Sakura for the title, NJPW WORLD TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Action Andretti for the title and ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata vs. Lee Moriarty for the title. Rampage is back at regular time (Fridays at 10 PM ET/PT) going forward with only one more potential NBA/NHL pre-emption this season: That could be in 2 weeks on 6/16 if the NHL Stanley Cup Finals needs a Game 6 (TNT has all Finals games this year).

Next week: AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy vs. Swerve Strickland for the title and Jay White vs. Ricky Starks with Juice Robinson and FTR banned from ringside. Also there are 2 more non-televised house shows this weekend. Toni Storm claimed she will be defending the AEW Women’s Championship at one or both events.

All Elite Wrestling “Double Or Nothing” Results (5/28/23) (Updated)

AEW runs their second quarterly PPV of the year, Double Or Nothing today, back in Las Vegas for the casino-themed event. The build on TV hasn’t been the most impressive and the card seems rather underwhelming, even for the main event featuring the so-called Four Pillars of AEW (not including the “female pillar” Britt Baker) in a 4-way match for MJF’s AEW World Championship with the leading angle being a potential laying-down original plan when MJF tried to pay off original challenger Sammy Guevara, then it soon became a 4-way with Darby Allin & Jungle Boy added. Elsewhere, every AEW title is on the line with maybe the biggest question being will Taya Valkyrie end Jade Cargill’s unbeaten streak in a straight-up match? Also featured is Anarchy In The Arena as The Elite & Blackpool Combat Club will fight all over the venue, Chris Jericho vs. Adam Cole in an Unsanctioned Match and much more.

Today’s event will be held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV and can be watched LIVE in the US on PPV via cable/satellite providers, Bleacher Report, at select participating movie theaters and Dave & Buster’s restaurants. Elsewhere it will be available on YouTube in Canada and select countries and FITE elsewhere. There will be a FREE 1 hour pre-show on YouTube. Presumably the post-event press conference will stream free on YouTube after the event, which including the pre-show should run 4-5 hours.

Today’s current lineup:
Pre-show:
The Hardys & Hook vs. Gunn Club & Ethan Page

PPV:
AEW Trios Champions House Of Black vs. TBA (possibly The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn) for the titles
Adam Cole vs. Chris Jericho in an Unsanctioned Match (doesn’t count towards records, title shots, etc.). Sabu will second Cole
AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill vs. Taya Valkyrie for the title
AEW Tag Team Champions FTR vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal for the titles
AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy vs. 20 others in a Blackjack Battle Royal for the title
AEW TNT Champion Wardlow vs. Christian Cage in a Ladder Match for the title
AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter vs. Toni Storm for the title
The Elite vs. Blackpool Combat Club in Anarchy In The Arena
AEW World Champion MJF vs. Sammy Guevara, Jungle Boy & Darby Allin in a 4-way for the title

UPDATE: During the media scrum, Tony Khan confirmed the mixed tag match for Dynamite this week. And when asked if a See I’m A Punk may be in Chicago for the Collision premiere, Khan sidestepped the question. The guest lineup was MJF right at the start (impromptu and being MJF), Kris Statlander, Orange Cassidy, Toni Storm & Bryan Danielson (very much not in character).
When asked about All In in England, Khan said the latest estimate on ticket sales so far is 65,000 with a UK record $9 million live gate.

AEW Dynamite 5/24/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Las Vegas, NV:

Taya Valkyrie beat Lady Frost.

Adam Cole-Chris Jericho contract signing for Sunday’s Unsanctioned Match. Cole has brought in Sabu as a special enforcer.

Tony Khan announced the Collision premiere on 6/17 will be in Chicago, IL. Not mentioned in any form: CM Punk, who is expected to return to AEW then. Reportedly the hold-up was Ace Steel, who apparently Punk has to have around for creative. We’ll see what happens.

Roderick Strong beat Daniel Garcia.

ROH Tag Team Champions Lucha Bros beat Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta to retain the titles.

It was okay for a PPV go-home. Matches were so-so but promos and video packages were excellent.

Rampage airtime is “check local listings” because it will depend on NHL and NBA Eastern Conference Finals Game 4/5 outcomes. As of this post NHL Game 4, with Florida leading Carolina 3-0 in the series, had 15 minutes to go and it was 3-2 Florida. If Carolina wins, Game 5 is Friday at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT. NBA Game 5 between Miami & Boston is Thursday and it’s now 3-1 Miami. If Boston wins, Game 6 would be Saturday at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on TNT with Rampage originally rumored to follow NBA. Spoilers will be posted when available.
