Dragon Gate 2/11/24 Results (Doubleheader)

Dragon Gate continues the Truth Gate 2024 Tour today with their monthly same-day (or close to it) doubleheader, which usually is held in their hometown of Kobe or in nearby Fukuoka. Today it’ll be in Fukuoka with 2 events back-to-back, separated by a break of a couple hours between the events. They’re primarily house show lineups with nothing major of note but still a unique way to schedule events and allow fans 2 opportunities to see events in a day. This post will contain live results for the early/first event. Results for the second event will be posted tomorrow.

Today’s events will be held at Acros Fukuoka in Fukuoka and can be watched LIVE on DRAGONGATE NETWORK in Japanese. There will also be an alternate stream with wrestler commentary, a different one for each match. The events will have around 2 hours between them so I anticipate each event having a total running time of around 2 hours.

Today;s lineup (event 1):
Kzy, U-T & JACKY “FUNKY” KAMEI vs. BxB Hulk, Genki Horiguchi & Yasushi Kanda
Kagetora vs. Gianni Valetta
Strong Machine J & Jason Lee vs. Masaaki Mochizuki & Ryoya Tanaka
BIGBOSS Shimizu vs. Yoshiki Kato
Ultimo Dragon, Luis Mante & Hyo vs. Shun Skywalker, KAI & ISHIN
Madoka Kikuta, Dragon Dia, YAMATO & Susumu Mochizuki vs. Kora Minoura, Ben-K, Dragon Kid & Naruki Doi

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 8 PM PT/11 PM ET. The live stream is scheduled to begin at 7:45 PM PT/10:45 PM ET for the first event. The second event will begin at midnight PT/3 AM ET. (Live results are not scheduled for the second event but that is subject to change)

7:45 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Acros Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan. Commentary will join later. (Update: There is no commentary on the main stream, only on the Wrestler Commentary version)

The paid attendance will be announced after the events. This is a small venue and I think it normally has a max capacity of close to 500 for wrestling, and the first events of doubleheaders typically draw a smaller crowd than the second. The crowd is still filing in but it looks at least half full, so I’ll predict it’ll be about “average” for these events which is around 375. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 531, a full house/near sellout)

The matches should begin in 15-20 minutes.

Opening greeting & announcements begin at 7:55 PM PT.

The matches begin at 8:07 PM PT but right as intros are about to start we lose the feed. There was some kind of error screen in Japanese right before it cut out so it’s definitely on their end. Looks like they’re working on it so hopefully updates will resume shortly.

The live feed is restored at 8:11 PM PT so only out for about 4 minutes.

When we return Natural Vibes is in the ring then Z-Brats come out. Promo segment. And a minute later the feed cuts out again. Must be some kind of issue with the venue. A few seconds later we get audio back although there’s “waiting for live feed” music mixed in and no video.

Video restored at 8:17 PM PT as the first match has already started. (Post-show note: There were no further technical issues after this)

Match 1: Kzy, U-T & JACKY “FUNKY” KAMEI vs. BxB Hulk, Genki Horiguchi & Yasushi Kanda. 15 minute (I think) time limit
Result: Kzy, U-T & JACKY “FUNKY” KAMEI beat BxB Hulk, Genki Horiguchi & Yasushi Kanda. KAMEI pinned Horiguchi.

Match 2: Kagetora vs. Gianni Valetta. 15 minute time limit
Result: Gianni Valetta beat Kagetora. Glorified squash. His Takashi Iizuka-like entrance rampage through the crowd was longer than the match.

Match 3: Strong Machine J & Jason Lee vs. Masaaki Mochizuki & Ryoya Tanaka. 20 minute time limit
Result: Strong Machine J & Jason Lee beat Masaaki Mochizuki & Ryoya Tanaka. J beat Tanaka with a single leg Boston Crab.

Match 4: BIGBOSS Shimizu vs. Yoshiki Kato. 30 minute time limit
Result: No Contest. Z-Brats interference. Heel beatdown until Luis Mante & Hyo made the save. Shimizu & Shun Skywalker promo followed.

Intermission. Updates will resume after the break. (Started at 9 PM PT)

The matches resume at 9:17 PM PT.

Match 5: Ultimo Dragon, Luis Mante & Hyo vs. Shun Skywalker, KAI & ISHIN. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Ultimo Dragon, Luis Mante & Hyo beat Shun Skywalker, KAI & ISHIN. Hyo pinned ISHIN after Samson Driver.

Main Event: Madoka Kikuta, Dragon Dia, YAMATO & Susumu Mochizuki vs. Kora Minoura, Ben-K, Dragon Kid & Naruki Doi (Independent/Freelancer). 1 Hour time limit
Result: Madoka Kikuta, Dragon Dia, YAMATO & Susumu Mochizuki beat Kota Minoura, Ben-K, Dragon Dia & Naruki Doi. YAMATO pinned Minoura after Gallaria.

In news coming out of today, 2 title matches were announced for CHAMPION GATE 2024 on 3/3: Open The Brave Gate Champion Hyo vs. Yasushi Kanda for the title and Open The Dream Gate Champion Luis Mante vs. Susumu Mochizuki for the title.

Also, the field for this year’s Rey de Parejas Tournament was announced: Block A is Kota Minoura & Ben-K, BIGBOSS Shimizu & Strong Machine J, Dragon Kid & Naruki Doi, Toru Owashi & Shuji Kondo, KAI & Gianni Valetta, and a team from Ryukyu Dragon Pro Wrestling (Update: That team is Mozoku Tominaga & Shuri Joe). Usual round-robin tournament format, the top 2 teams in each block will advance to the Semifinals. If there are ties, tiebreaker matches will be held. The tournament starts on 3/6 at Korakuen and ends on 4/10 at Korakuen. At this time only those 2 events and 3/30 ate scheduled for DRAGONGATE NETWORK broadcasts but that is subject to change.

Dragon Gate 2/4/24 Results

Dragon Gate continues the Truth Gate 2024 Tour today with their annual mid-winter major event in Wakayama, MEMORIAL GATE 2024 in Wakayama. 2 title matches are on tap for today’s event-first up, Open The Brave Gate Champion Hyo defends the title against Punch Tominaga, who usually is more of a comedy wrestler & jobber but somehow managed to get himself nominated as the next challenger. In the main event, trios action is on tap as Open The Triangle Gate Champions KAI, ISHIN & Yoshiki Kato defend the titles against Kzy, BIGBOSS Shimizu & JACKY “FUNKY” KAMEI. The undercard is highlighted by the penultimate match together for the M3K faction as the 3 Mochizukis-Masaaki, Susumu & Junior (Masaaki & Junior are father-son, Susumu is not related to either) and Yasushi Kanda are in 8-man tag action. Later this week they will apparently disband and Junior will be heading to Europe for a training excursion.

Today’s event will be held at Wakayama Prefectural Gym in Wakayama and can be watched LIVE on DRAGONGATE NETWORK in Japanese. There will also be an alternate version with wrestler commentary. This is my first time watching Dragon Gate live on the service so it’s hard to predict how long the event will run, but between 7 matches and 2 title matches (plus a potential squash), and most regular matches have 15-20 minute time limits I’ll guess maybe 3 hours. (Update: You can also watch the first match FOR FREE on YouTube)

Today’s lineup:
Madoka Kikuta & Dragon Dia vs. Genki Horiguchi & Kagetora
Ryoya Tanaka vs. Strong Machine J
Kota Minoura, Ben-K & BxB Hulk vs. Don Fujii, Takashi Yoshida & Ho Ho Lun

We are LIVE from Wakayama Prefectural Gym in Wakayama, Japan. Commentary will begin in a few minutes. The wrestler commentary version features a different wrestler on commentary for each match.

The paid attendance will be announced later today. This is a small venue and last year’s event here, held in mid-March, drew just under 500, so I think a safe estimate will be 450-500. (There is much more capacity, which would’ve probably pushed it closer to 2000, but it’s not used) (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 462)

The matches should begin in about 10-15 minutes.

The Natural Vibes faction comes out to open the event. Kzy with microphone. He gets the crowd fired up before talking about today’s main event. They are then joined by their opponents, Open The Triangle Gate Champions KAI, ISHIN & Yoshiki Kato. Main event promo follows.

The matches (really this time) begin at 10:17 PM PT. It looks like a hard-camera-only view today with no onscreen graphics, akin to a house show on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

Result: Madoka Kikuta & Dragon Dia beat Genki HoriguchI & Kagetora. Dia pinned Horiguchi after DDDDT.

Match 2: Ryoya Tanaka vs. Strong Machine J. 15 minute time limit
Result: Strong Machine J beat Ryoya Tanaka

Match 3: Kota Minoura, Ben-K & BxB Hulk vs. Don Fujii, Takashi Yoshida & Ho Ho Lun. 20 minute time limit

The matches resume at 11:58 PM PT.
