Ganbare Pro ran one of their biggest events of the year, if not their biggest, today, an event that like Tokyo Joshi Pro earlier in the day would feature vocal cheering and streamer throwing allowed for the first time in over 2 years as Japanese wrestling slowly attempts to return to normal amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Today’s event was held at Ota City General Gym in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 804.

During the opening, it was announced that female wrestler Yoshiko Hasegawa, a 35-year-old with about 2 1/2 years of experience, is joining the promotion and will debut for Ganbare on 8/13.

Match 1: Isami Kodaka & Shuji Ishikawa beat Keisuke Ishii & Shigehiro Irie. Kodaka pinned Ishii after Brave legs & swords.

Match 2: Kouki Iwasaki & Tyson Maeguchi beat Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Black Tiger 5. Maeguchi pinned Tiger after Tyson Splash.

Match 3: Ganbare Tamagawa, Nobuhiro Shimatani & HARUKAZE beat Onryo, YuuRI & Lingerie Muto (Munenori Sawa). HARUKAZE pinned YuuRI after Flame Spear.

Match 4: Mizuki Watase, Moeka Haruhi & Shinichiro Tominaga beat Yukio Sakaguchi, Saki Akai & Hideki Okatani. Watase pinned Sakaguchi after an elbow butt.

Match 5; Sayaka Unagi beat Yuna Manase.

Match 6: Minoru Suzuki beat Shuichiro Katsumura.

Match 7: Shota & Takao Soma beat Chris Brookes & Masa Takanashi. Shota beat Brookes with Gannosuke Clutch.

Main Event: Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Champion Yumehito Imanari beat Ken Ohka to retain the title. V1 for Imanari.

The next event is 7/17 at Basement MON*STAR in Tokyo. There will be no live broadcast.

Ganbare Pro ran their first post-CyberFight Festival event today, finishing a very quick build to their next major event in July.

Today’s event was held at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 112.

During the opening, fans were encouraged to bring their voices to the next event in July, where at both Ganbare and Tokyo Joshi Pro fans will be allowed to cheer vocally, throw ticker tape/streamers and post support banners for the first time since the pandemic began. Masks are still required for fans and capacity at the venue will be limited to 50% (that will mean max crowds of around 1500).

Match 1: Kouki Iwasaki beat Tatsuya Matsubo by submission.

Match 2: Mizuki Watase, Moeka Haruhi & HARUKAZE beat Shuichiro Katsumura, Yuna Manase & YuuRI. Haruhi pinned YuuRI after 79.5MHz.

Match 3: Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Shigehiro Irie beat Grief & Taison Maeguchi. Takaiwa pinned Maeguchi after Death Valley Bomb.

Match 4: Keisuke Ishii & Nobuhiro Shimatani beat Isami Kitaka & Daiki Shimomura. Ishii pinned Shimomura after Nail Kick.

Main Event: Ken Ohka, Masa Takanashi & Chris Brookes beat Yumehito Imanari, Shota & Takao Soma. Ohka pinned Imanari after Flame Spear.

The next event is 7/10 at Ota City General Gym in Tokyo, headlined by Imanari-Ohka for the Spirit of Ganbare Openweight Championship. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin on 7/9 at 10 PM PT/1 AM ET.

On a side note, if you subscribe to or renew your WRESTLE UNIVERSE subscription today, the monthly fee absolutely tanked for the coming month. I just got my renewal notice and this month’s current fee is $6.66 US. That is down by at least 40 cents from last month and is a new low since I have been a subscriber. Today’s event was held at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 122.

Match 1: Rie Kawabata & Maria beat HARUKAZE & YuuRI. Kawabata pinned YuuRI after a moonsault press.

Match 2: Takao Soma beat Tsuyoshi Okada.

Match 3: Shuichiro Katsumura & Shigehiro Irie beat Kouki Iwasaki & Taison Maeguchi. Katsumura beat Maeguchi. After this, Katsumura vs. Minoru Suzuki was added to their 7/10 event.

Match 4: Masa Takanashi beat Shota.

Main Event: Yumehito Imanari, Keisuke Ishii & Yuna Manase beat Ken Ohka, Mizuki Watase & Moeka Haruhi. Imanari pinned Ohka with a Thesz Press.

The next standalone event is 6/29 at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring, but up next is CyberFight Festival ’22 Sunday at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama.

DDT sub-brand Ganbare Pro ran their major Golden Week event, “Love Phantom 2022”, today after the Tokyo Joshi Pro event, featuring some TJPW participation and a Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Championship main event.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 380.

Match 1: Grief beat Taison Maeguchi.

Match 2: HARUKAZE & Tsuyoshi Okada beat Yuu Yamagata & Shinichiro Tomonaga. Okada beat Tominaga with an armbar.

Match 3: Yuki Kamifuku (Tokyo Joshi Pro) & Asuka (Veny) beat Yuna Manase & YuuRI. Kamifuku pinned YuuRI after Fameasser.

Match 4: Shota & Takao Soma beat Chris Brookes & Antonio Honda and Takumi Tsukamoto & Yasu Urano in a 3-way when Shota beat Honda.

Match 5: Ken Ohka beat Muscle Sakai.

Match 6: Keisuke Ishii & Koki Iwasaki beat Shuichiro Katsumura & Mizuki Watase. Ishii pinned Watase after Nail Kick.

Main Event: Yumehito Imanari beat Spirit Of Ganbare World Openweight Champion Tatsuhito Takaiwa to win the title. Imanari becomes the second Spirit of Ganbare World Openweight Champion. Just what DDT dreads-more gold for those deplorable Pheromons. Next up: Probably Ken Ohka. That match will happen on 7/10 at Ota City General Gym.

The next event is 5/14 at Chiba 2AW Square in Chiba.

UPDATE: It’s now official-Imanari vs. Ohka for the title on 7/10 as is Chris Brookes & Masa Takanashi vs. Shota & Takao Soma.
