Grade: A (but Yim gets an A+ for her efforts)

Taya Valkyrie & Rosemary get a Knockouts Tag Team Championship match at Bound For Glory.

Bobby? Go Fish…Bobby Fish comes out. He apparently was just released from All Elite Wrestling, or is about to (expired/expiring contract). With microphone. He takes a thinly veiled shot at AEW & Warner Bros. Discovery with uncensored use of profanity among other things. He does note he doesn’t work here. Someone in the crowd shouts “Bobby Flay” and gets a “You F*cked Up” chant (it’s a very small crowd because the venue is very small-Impact used it for TV tapings during the pandemic). Fish says he’s here to pick a fight, which brings out Shera and Raj Singh. Singh with microphone. He tries to talk down Fish and gets “POS” chants. Fish says let them talk. Singh says Shera will gladly rip Fish’s head off. Singh tries to take a cheap shot at Fish to set up Shera for the ambush, but Fish gets the better of them…all while losing his shoe on a kick to Singh’s back before he makes Singh tap to Fish Hook before Shera drags him out. Fish brings up not needing both shoes to tap him out to wrap it up.
So from the AEW perspective, it sounds like Fish may either be heading to Impact soon or is at least setting the table. If nothing else it’s more Forbidden Door goodness.

Match 5: Josh Alexander, Heath & Rich Swann vs. Eddie Edwards & The OGK (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven)
Result: Eddie Edwards & The OGK beat Josh Alexander, Heath & Rich Swann. Edwards pinned Alexander after Die Hard Driver.
Grade: B

Match 6: Impact Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace vs. Max The Impaler in a Pick Your Poison NON-TITLE match. Max was picked as Grace’s foe by Masha Slamovich, who faces Grace for the title at Bound For Glory
Result: Jordynne Grace beat Max The Impaler
Grade: B-

Raven will be inducted into the Impact Hall of Fame at Bound For Glory.

Main Event: Sami Callihan vs. Moose & Steve Maclin in a 3-way Barbed Wire Massacre MatchResult: Steve Maclin beat Sami Callihan & Moose by pinning Callihan.
Grade: B- (absolute garbage hardcore, but damn it was fun)

Overall show grade: B
If you don’t keep up with Impact you may not get as much out of this as you otherwise would, but on it’s own this was a solid PPV and, at $5-10 depending on how you watch, an absolute bargain. Definitely worth the money and 2 1/2 hours. The Revolver match is must-see and also watch Bailey-Delirious, and check out Steelz-Kelly on the YouTube pre-show just for that match ending. These mid-major PPVs always seem to deliver a fantastic value and, even on demand, usually are worth watching.

End Show.

DEVELOPING: Joe Doering Battling Cancer Recurrence

Former All-Japan Pro Wrestling mainstay and current Impact Wrestling star Joe Doering, who beat brain cancer several years ago and made a successful comeback after that, is dealing with a return of the brain cancer and will be stepping away from wrestling. Impact was informed of this at last weekend’s TV tapings by Doering and made a subsequent announcement that surgery is forthcoming. There is no timetable for a potential return.
Doering, 40, is a former 4-time All-Japan World Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, a 2-time Triple Crown Champion (the first non-Japanese born champion), a 2-time Impact Tag Team Champion and a former European Wrestling Association World Heavyweight Champion. I join Impact Wrestling and others in sending best wishes and prayers to Joe Doering, he’s beaten this once and I am confident he can beat it again.

Moose promo in the ring. He threatens to hold the main event and show hostage but Sami Callahan returns to Impact and lays out Moose. Callahan was put out for months thanks to a neck injury at the hands of Moose, during which time he has intensely feuded with “Busted Open” radio show host Dave LaGreca.

Main Event: Impact World Champion Josh Alexander vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the title. During his entrances, commentary notes Alexander was in a major car crash on the way to the event yesterday, his new truck totaled as part of a 6-car wreck. Thankfully Alexander was not hurt and is here.
Result: IMPACT World Champion Josh Alexander beat Tomohiro Ishii to retain the title.
Grade: A+
MOTY Candidate.

Overall show grade: B+
Don’t be fooled by the $10 price tag for this PPV, normally the major Impact ones are $40. This was a $40 quality event, solid as a whole and an absolute bargain. You can skip the odd-numbered matches except the Tag Team Title match while all the even numbered matches and the main event are must-watch. That main event alone is worth paying $40 for. Also go find the pre-show on YouTube and watch the 3-way, which was a dark horse candidate for match of the night before the main event happened.

The next PPV is Slammiversary on June 19 in Nashville, TN.

End Show.
