All-Japan kicked off the 2024 Champions Carnival, the promotion’s annual major singles tournament, today. This will determine who gets the next Triple Crown chance unless Yuma Anzai wins the tournament as the current champion.
Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on AJPW.TV.
The announced paid attendance was 1157.
Before the event began, there was an Actress Girls pre-show segement and match, followed by a memorial for Akebono, the former sumo grand champion and Triple Crown Champion who died earlier this month.
Match 1: Dan Tamura & Ryo Inoue beat Rising Hayato & Seigo Tachibana. Tamura pinned Tachibana after a powerbomb.
Match 2: Hideki Suzuki (Pro Wrestling NOAH), Cyrus & MUSASHI (Michinoku Pro) beat Kuroshio TOKYO Japan, Hartley jackson & Ryuji Hijikata. Cyrus pinned Hijikata after a reverse splash.
Champions Carnival:
Match 3: Block B-Suwama beat Rei Saito.
Match 4: Block A-Shotaro Ashino beat Hokuto Omori by submission.
Match 5: Block B-Road Crew beat Ryuki Honda.
Match 6: Block A-Yuma Aoyagi beat Davey Boy Smith Jr.
Match 7: Block A-Ren Ayabe beat Kento Miyahara.
Main Event: Block B-Yuma Anzai beat Jun Saito.
The next event is Saturday at Act City Hamamatsu in Shizuoka. There will be no live broadcast. It is scheduled to be available on demand beginning at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET.
