In other news, New Japan’s English website posted backstage comments from Hikuleo after yesterday’s event in the first update on the status of the NEVER Openweight Championship match between Hikuleo & Karl Anderson scheduled for 11/5. As of now the match is still on even though Anderson and Doc Gallows have apparently returned to WWE and are scheduled to be at the WWE event in Saudi Arabia on 11/5, likely meaning they can’t be at the tour-ender in Osaka. The video version may soon be available on YouTube if it’s not already.

AEW Rampage 10/21/22 Results (SPOILERS!)

Here are the quick results from tonight’s LIVE AEW Rampage in Jacksonville, FL at Daily’s Place:

AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed beat Tony Nese & Josh Woods to retain the titles. Max Caster pinned Nese after Mic Drop. The Acclaimed gets the scissoring trademarks back.

Willow Nightingale beat Leila Grey. This was to have been Penelope Ford vs. Nightingale but Ford was injured. It seemed Jade Cargill had something to do with it. After the match, it was revealed that AEW has signed Nightingale. Cargill then came out and demanded the AEW TBS Championship belt be returned by Nyla Rose, but she instead drove off in Cargill’s rental car.

FTW Champion Hook beat Ariya Daivari to retain the title.

AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy beat 10 & Rush in a 3-way by pinning 10 to retain the title.

The show ended with an In Memoriam graphic for Brian Muster, AEW Lead Video Engineer. Commentary discussed his passing this week during the main event.

This was a very forgettable and skippable show unless you care for the featured wrestlers and their antics. At least watch Hook being Hook and the women’s post-match and be genuinely happy for Nightingale, she deserves the contract she just earned.

New Japan News: Final 2022 Events Announced

New Japan announced the final events of the year today on their Japanese website. Traditionally the Road to TOKYO DOME tour that represents the final build to their biggest event of the year on January 4 (also Japan’s biggest pro wresting event and the start of their annual schedule), this year’s version will be just two events on 12/22 & 12/23, both at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. There could be more announced later but this seems unlikely.

New Japan’s official fan club members can get tickets next week, everyone else has to wait until late November.

New Japan News: NEVER Openweight Title in Limbo?

This is currently unconfirmed but if you remember when Juice Robinson was stripped of the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship earlier this year, New Japan may have similar again with the NEVER Openweight Championship. Karl Anderson is scheduled to defend the title against Hikuleo on 11/5. Except The Good Brothers dropped a video today saying they’ll be in WWE that day-WWE is in Saudi Arabia for one of their big events there the Saudis are paying huge for. In response to this, fellow New Japan wrestler (and sort of international liaison) Rocky Romero demanded the belt be returned. No response yet from New Japan.

AEW Dynamite 10/18/22 Results (SPOILERS!)

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite from Cincinnati, OH (SPOILERS for west feed viewers!):
AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle beat Best Friends to retain the titles. Rey Fenix pinned Trent Beretta.

AEW Interim Women’s Champion Toni Storm beat Hikaru Shida to retain the title. A big post-match brawl saw Saraya fight Britt Baker and the return of Riho to make the save for Storm after a beatdown by Rebel & Jamie Hayter.

ROH World Champion Chris Jericho beat Dalton Castle to retain the title.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley beat Adam Page by doctor stoppage (injury) to retain the title. Page was legit injured at the end. Early rumors are he suffered a concussion, but he had to be stretchered out and the match was possibly cut up to 10 minutes short.

With unexpected TV time remaining, a Moxley promo led to MJF cashing in his “Money In The Bank” casino chip for a title shot anytime, anywhere…which will be at the upcoming Full Gear PPV on November 19.

Friday on a LIVE Rampage: AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed vs. Tony Nese & Josh Woods for the titles and The Acclaimed’s trademarks around scissoring, Penelope Ford vs. Willow NIghtingale, 10 vs. Rush and FTW Champion Hook vs. Ariya Daivari for the title.

Next week: FTR vs. Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland for the #1 contender’s spot for the AEW Tag Team Championship, Riho vs. Jamie Hayter, Chris Jericho & Daniel Garcia vs. Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli and Bryan Danielson vs. Sammy Guevara. Dynamite will be back at regular time next Wednesday unless there is a baseball pre-emption, and that will only happen if the American League Championship Series goes the full 7 games-if it does, Game 7 is next Wednesday night on TBS. Because Game 6 would be the night before, a Game 7 likely would mean Dynamite would have to air on a tape delay.
