All-Japan continued their February tour today with a major event in Tokyo.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on AJPW.TV.

The announced paid attendance was 1269.

There was a change to the main event announced last week as Rei Saito was removed due to injury (shoulder). He was to have challenged Katsuhiko Nakajima for the Triple Crown. Jun Saito was the replacement. The Saitos also vacated the All-Japan World Tag Team Championship as a result.

There was a last-minute addition of an ActWres Girls pre-show match. Surprising given the promotion is on hiatus following the death of a roster member earlier this month (she was killed in a car accident en route to their last event).

Match 1: Suwama beat Hideki Suzuki.

Match 2: Shotaro Ashino, Kuroshio TOKYO Japan, Hikaru Sato & Hartley Jackson (Independent/Freelancer) beat Naruki Doi (Independent/Freelancer). Hokuto Omori, Ren Ayabe & Osamu Nishimura. Jackson pinned Ayabe after Falcon Arrow.

Match 3: Ryuki Honda & Yuma Anzai beat KONO & Toshizo. Honda pinned Toshizo after Final Vent.

Match 4: Kento Miyahara & Rising Hayato beat Yuma & Atsuki Aoyagi. Hayato pinned Atsuki Aoyagi after Overdose.

Match 5: GAORA TV Champion Seigo Tachibana beat Ryo Inoue to retain the title. V1 for Tachibana.

Match 6: All-Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Dan Tamura beat Fuminori Abe to retain the title. V3 for Tamura.

Main Event: All-Japan Triple Crown Champion Katsuhiko Nakajima beat Jun Saito to retain the Triple Crown. V4 for Nakajima.

The next event is Friday (Thursday night US time) at Okayama Convention Center in Okayama. There will be no live broadcast.

UPDATE: After the Jr. title match, MUSASHI made a surprise appearance and is aiming for Tamura and the title. MUSASHI, who has made some appearances in New Japan over the last few months thanks to relations/past partnerships with New Japan wrestler Yoh, is leaving home promotion Michinoku Pro in the coming weeks after his contract expires. It sounds like he will be participating in All-Japan going forward, but it’s not clear if he will sign with them or be doing so as a freelancerz.

UPDATE 2: Next up for Tamura: Not MUSASHI but Rising Hayato. That match will happen on 3/9 at Kotakuen.

All-Japan has announced a major change to the 2/20 Korakuen Hall event: Rei Saito is now off. Dislocated right shoulder. Out indefinitely. He was to have faced Triple Crown Champion Katsuhiko Nakajima for the Triple Crown. But no free pass for the champ-Jun Saito, Rei’s brother, is the replacement and will now challenge Nakajima for the title.

UPDATE: Because of this, the All-Japan World Tag Team Championship is now VACANT. They were to have defended the titles on 2/25 against Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi. Miyahara & Aoyagi will now face the winners of a 2/23 match between Suwama & Hideki Suzuki and Ryuki Honda & Yuma Anzai for the titles on 2/25.

All-Japan ran the third Rising Hayato Produced NEW AGE CHRONICLE Z event today, focused on younger and less experienced wrestlers.

Today’s event was held at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring and can be watched on demand on YouTube. It was to have been live on AJPW.TV but was bot due to technical issues and an emergency decision was made to stream it for free on YouTube. It will be available on demand on AJPW.TV at a later time. The YouTube video is joined in progress (it appears to start after intros for the first match so it’s missing the first few minutes of the event). I attempted to link to/embed it here but the provider doesn’t allow it. (The AJPW.TV version is now available on the service, they are still looking into the technical issues)

The announced paid attendance was 335, a legit advance sellout.

Match 1: Soma Watanabe beat Ryo Inoue.

Match 2: Hideki Sekine beat Imabari Towel Mascaras.

Match 3: Jun & Rei Saito beat Shotaro Ashino & Kumaarashi. Rei Saito pinned Lumaarashi after Iginari Saito Splash.

Match 4: Yuma Aoyagi, Yuma Anzai & Ryuki Honda beat Hokuto Omori, Ren Ayabe & So Daimonji. Anzai pinned Ayabe with a German suplex hold.

Main Event: Dan Tamura & Hayato Tamura beat Rising Hayato & TBA, revealed at match time to be Rising Atsuki. Dan Tamura pinned Atsuki after a powerbomb. It was originally announced that Atsuki Aoyagi would not be part of the event due to working as a producer for the event…clearly a well-played swerve.

There will be a 4th event in the series on 4/11-the series has been extremely successful so far as every event has been a legit advance sellout well ahead of time as they spotlight wrestlers with less than 10 years experience.

The next event is 2/20 at Korakuen Hall with 3 title matches including Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Rei Saito for the Triple Crown. Live streaming on AJPW.TV will begin at 1;30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET.

All-Japan has announced several title matches for upcoming events, plus some other news:

First, 3 title matches will be on 2/20 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo: GAORA TV Champion Seigo Tachibana vs. Ryo Inoue for the title, All-Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Dan Tamura vs. Fuminori Abe for the title, and Triple Crown Champion Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Rei Saito for the Triple Crown. Another match announced for 2/20 was Suwama vs. Hideki Suzuki. They’ve had their issues getting along the last couple months.

On 2/25 in Kyoto at Kyoto KBS Hall, All-Japan World Tag Team Champions Jun & Rei Saito vs. Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi for the titles has been announced.

AJPW.TV has announced the broadcast schedule for February: 2/8, 2/20 & 2/25 will be LIVE. 2/23 & 2/24 will have no live broadcast but will be available on demand later that day or, at the latest, the next day.

The 2/8 NEW AGE CHRONICLE Z 3 event is now a legit advance sellout as of today, so no same-day ticket sales. It will be broadcast live on AJPW.TV.

Also announced was their traditional New Year’s Eve Tournament, to be held on 12/31 at Yoyogi National Stadium Gym 2 in Tokyo.

Finally, All-Japan announced additional participation on 2/9 for the NTV 70 Years Of Pro Wrestling event at Korakuen Hall, which will also include Pro Wrestling NOAH participation. The All-Japan match will be Kento Miyahara, Ryuki Honda & Dan Tamura vs. Yuma & Atsuki Aoyagi & Rising Hayato. Previously announced matches set are Jun & Rei Saito vs. Timothy Thatcher & Saxon Huxley in an AJPW vs. NOAH match and the main event, which will be Kaito Kiyomiya vs. Yuma Anzai. The event will air on NTV (may be either the main network or their G+ network) in Japan on 2/18 at 1:50 AM JST and there currently is no live broadcast scheduled, also no word on when/if it will be available on AJPW.TV and/or WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

2/1 UPDATE: Added to the Champions Carnival schedule is 5/4 at Sanjo City Health and Welfare Center in Niigata.

All-Japan wrapped up their January tour yesterday with a major event featuring 3 title matches.

Yesterday’s event was held at Esforta Arena Hachioji in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on AJPW.TV.

The announced paid attendance was 1588.

Match 1: Shuji Ishikawa & Black Menso-re Final All-Japan Match: Shuji Ishikawa & Black Menso-re vs. Ren Ayabe & Ryo Inoue went to a 15 minute time limit draw.

All-Japan continues their year-opening New Year Excite Series 2024 tour today with a Masanobu Fuchi 50th Anniversary & 70th Birthday event. The septuagenarian and once Jr. Heavyweight legend still makes an occasional appearance here & there but mostly works behind-the-scenes now. He gets the main event treatment today, facing the winner of an 8-man battle royal immediately before that. Also today, Katsuhiko Nakajima & Hokuto Omori get their prize for winning the Real World Tag League at the end of 2023, which is a shot at All-Japan World Tag Team Champions Jun & Rei Saito. A GAORA TV Championship match is also on tap as new champion Black Menso-re defends against Seigo Tachibana.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on AJPW.TV in Japanese. There was a last-minute addition of an Actress Girls Provided Match that may be a pre-show match to start the event. Most of the matches are 1 Hour or No Time Limit so it’s hard to predict exactly how long the event will run, but I’m going to guess just under 3 hours.

Before the event officially begins, Masanobu Fuchi comes out. A video package of congratulatory messages for Fuchi, including from Kenta Kobashi, is played. Then Atsushi Onita comes out with a couple of fellow dignitaries for the customary flower presentations to Fuchi. Onita is almost certainly headed to Kanagawa right after this for the DDT event he is part of.

The fact that Nakajima was the one beaten here is HUGE. I can see Rei making a challenge to Nakajima if he retains the Trriple Crown against Shotaro Ashino later this month.

It took longer than expected, due solely to injuries that put him on the shelf last year, but Shotaro Ashino is finally getting his All-Japan Triple Crown shot for winning the 2023 Champions Carnival that he lost after getting injured before his original chance. The promotion announced Ashino will face Katsuhiko Nakajima for the Triple Crown on 1/27 at Esforta Arena Hachioji in Tokyo. That event will be streamed live on AJPW.TV.

UPDATE: In a separate post, All-Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Dan Tamura vs. Koji Iwamoto for the title was also announced for 1/27.

All-Japan is scheduled to run the second half of their New Year doubleheader today, amidst what has become a very difficult start to 2024 in Japan with the major earthquake off the western coast and now a tragic and deadly plane collision at Haneda Airport in Tokyo that killed 5 Japan Coast Guard service members (thankfully the roughly 380 aboard the passenger jet involved survived and got off before it caught fire). I join those all over the world in sending condolences and support to those in Japan affected by these disasters.

The event today is currently on as planned but refunds will be offered for those with tickets who cannot travel to the event from affected areas (the earthquake was centered in Ishikawa Prefecture, northwest of Tokyo and northeast of Osaka). The headliner is Katsuhiko Nakajima defending the Triple Crown against Charlie Dempsey, who is getting this chance mainly as a favor from WWE towards William Regal as Dempsey is his real-life son and very few people are more respected in pro wrestling than Regal, who I can listen to talk about wresting for all eternity (he is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the sport). As for what may happen, let’s just say, as always in wrestling, you never know.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on AJPW.TV, presumably in Japanese. Yesterday’s event went shorter than I predicted and with one fewer match today, and just one title match, I anticipate this event having a running time of around 2 1/2 hours.

Next up: Possibly Shotaro Ashino, who still has never gotten the title match he earned for winning the Champions Carnival last year. He lost that opportunity due to injury. After the challenge is issued, Nakajima leaves first in an odd spot, leaving Ashino to finish the post-match promo. I’ve been waiting for Ashino to hopefully get his chance since he just came back and now it seems it’ll be sooner rather than later. Only question is when.

The next event is 1/14. Live streaming on AJPW.TV will begin on 1/13 at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET. Live results are scheduled. The promotion is also sponsoring/co-promoting a Sayaka Unagi Produced event Sunday but that event will not be broadcast, at least not on AJPW.TV.

All-Japan kicks off 2024 today with the start of the New Year’s Series 2024. This is the first half of a doubleheader. It should be noted that, at this time, this and all other events this week I am aware of are set to go on as planned despite the major 7.5 earthquake that struck western Japan today (centered in Ishikawa prefecture, northwest of Yokyo). Today’s event features 2 title matches-first up is a GAORA TV Championship match as Minoru Tanaka defends against Black Menso-re, then NEW All-Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Dan Tamura defends against former partner Hikaru Sato. The main event will be a battle royal with participants TBA later today, so we may not know everyone in it until match time.
The promotion also has announced Shuji Ishikawa is off today’s and tomorrow’s events. Illness. This comes amidst reports from Tokyo Sports that he will leave the promotion at the end of the month amidst apparent disputes with the President of All-Japan.

Depending on how long some of the matches go, and there is also an “Actress Girls Wrestling” segment planned, it’s hard to predict a potential running time for this event but I’ll guess it’ll be close to 3 hours.

We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Didn’t hear who is on commentary as it started a couple minutes before I jumped on but it sounds like Kagehiro Osano is one of the hosts today. This may be another Samuraii! TV simulcast in Japan. As I Join in the roster comes out for New Year’s greetings from the President of the promotion.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. It’s a Tuesday morning event but I think ti’s a holiday and it looks like a decent crowd so far although most of the bleacher seats aren’t full. I’m going to guess it’ll be in the 800-850 range. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 1008, but the promotion has announced that, in the wake of the earthquake, refunds will be offered for fans affected by the disaster who were unable to attend the event and who also cannot make tomorrow’s event)

Match 1: Rising Hayato, Fuminori Abe & Ryo Inoue vs. Naruki Doi (Independent/Freelancer), Koji Iwamoto & Takahiro Katori. 30 minute time limit
Result: Naruki Doi, Koji Iwamoto & Takahiro Katori beat Rising Hayato, Fuminori Abe & Ryo Inoue. Iwamoto pinned Inoue.

After this, Hayato returned to the ring. With micorphone. He said a few words then walked off.

Match 2: GAORA TV Champion Minoru Tanaka vs. Black Menso-re for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Black Menso-re beat GAORA TV Champion Minoru Tanaka to win the title. Menso-re becomes the 24th GAORA TV Champion. That ends what had been the 3rd-longest title reign to date as Tanaka came just 3 weeks short of reigning for a year.

Match 3: Kento Miyahara, Yuma & Atsuki Aoyagi vs. Shotaro Ashino, Kuroshio Tokyo Japan & Seigo Tachibana. 30 minute time limit
Reslut: Shotaro Ashino, Kuroshio TOKYO Japan & Seigo Tachibana beat Kento Miyahara, Yuma & Atsuki Aoyagi. Ashino pinned Atsuki Aoyagi.

An ActWres Girls segment is happening now (starts at 7:23 PM PT/10:23 PM ET). I believe they are a promotion featuring former idols/actresses turned wrestlers. A song/dance number leads to a face-painted girl (Great Asako) coming out slowly, then it leads to a tag match involving some of the girls. There is no commentary for this segment. Asako was pinned and slowly crawled to the back weirdly afterwards. Weird…

Result: Yuma Anzai & Charlie Dempsey beat Katsuhiko Nakajima & Hideki Suzuki. Dempsey pinned Nakajima.

Match 6: All-Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Dan Tamura vs. HIkaru Sato for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: All-Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Dan Tamura beat Hikaru Sato by submission to retain the title. V1 for Tamura.

Main Event: New Year’s Battle Royal. Everyone participating including Dan Tamura & Hikaru Sato despite just finishing their match, with a few exceptions (Nakajima, Dempsey, Nishimura, Nagai, Smith, Minoru Suzuki, Tanaka, Menso-re) Everyone in the ring to start. Eliminations by pinfall, submission or over the top rope unless otherwise noted. No time limit
